This photo is nothing special.
In before the true savages rip your photos apart tho.

Post more, you might be lucky enough to get some actual constructive feedback. But almost 99% of the time, especially if the photos are not great, will always get ripped to shreds. Good luck.

lol thanks dude im honestly looking for that kind of feedback anyways, but it's cool to have some nice feedback before the shitstorm

Corrupted file? I remember I had a few images, where the preview was fucked, but the raw image was OK. Never had it the other way around.

Its grey due to your flat picture profile, it looks a block of grey but it actually contains more information than the rest of your picture. Your virtual shutter isn't spinning fast enough(firmware update?) and thus only correctly captures the high information on the left side of your picture.

Try turning your phone horizontally next time you take a picture as the lens levels with the horizon line and there is less gravity pull down on your sensor.

spent two days in Okinawa wanted to create a set representative of the island but all i got was torrential rains for most of it.
Anyway heres a few photos.
As always Ricoh GR / VSCO and white borders. Only 7 Photos so too much for the RPT But hardly enough for its own thread so I'm happy if it turns into some kind of japan general if need be.

Has anyone ever tried to get into a factory/refinery/business with lots of machinery before?

I'm an amateur still but it fascinates me seeing obviously the difference between man and machine and I'd like to have the chance to go into some of these places.

Anyone with experience or advice? I imagine emailing would be a way to go.

You need to contact the PR departments of the companies whose factories you want to shoot. I always found it was best to phone the switchboard first. Your intro would be something like this:

"Hello, my name is Drippy McFaggot. I'd like to speak to someone in your Public Relations department with regard to setting up a photo shoot in your thingumyjig making factory. Could you tell me who the best person to speak to is?"

When you get put through you will need a good explanation of why you want to take photos of their thingumyjigs.

If you are young enough you can just lie and say it's for a school project. People usually buy that since they feel like they are helping you with homework and fell bad if they say no.

If you are older say either you are a big fan of what they make and would love to take some pictures, and/or you have a blog/website where you want to post pictures of it.

Oh great this helps a lot, after seeing a lot of the italian neorealists shoot factories I couldn't help but be fascinated at the attempt to do the same when i got my own camera.

I'm 22 so maybe I can slide by the school angle.

Thanks for the advice, it'll be great to start shooting thingymuhjiugs.

Hi, /p/.
I'm not in any way a photographer, but I just got really interested in old film cameras for some reason. I want to pick up some cheap camera to play around with for a while.
There's a store near me that sells old Zenit cameras, those seem fun.

They've got E, EM, ET, TTL, and 12cd models (they all cost about the same, roughly 20-40$). Are any of them worth it?
I have no strong feelings towards either model (12cd seems pretty good, though), so any guidance whether which one is better and why is welcome.
51 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
20$ for a zenit is a ×4 markup from what it's worth. They're all very bad primitive limited amateur SLRs, and the models you listed only differ with metering and focusing screen type. Go for the 12cd, it's relatively newest, has real through the lens metering and unlike then TTL model doesnt have a moving spring-tensioned part in the meter that can fail/malfunction. Also has a microprism focusing patch to somewhat help getting stuff in focus, unlike the E model.

But honestly for 20$-40$ buy a proper western SLR, ebay, craigslist and so on.
>>
>>3075767
>proper western SLR
Suggestions?
I don't want anything too new, like Canons that look like you took all the electronics out of a modern DSLR.

>ebay
It'll probably be real expensive, including shipping to Russia.

Sup /p/

Just recently I was out shooting downtown with a Sony a7 and a Tamron 28-75. I switched to my 50mm for a little bit, then back to the 28-75 and noticed it wouldn't allow me to change the f-stop. All of my other lenses work fine, and when I don't allow the camera shutter to open without a lens on it, it won't shoot with the 28-75. Is this an issue with my lens? Is it fucked? Is there anything I can do?

Bumping with random photos.

Thanks in advance for any advice, /p/

Just a note: I didn't drop it or anything. It sat snug in my camera backpack. It was just from one switch to another it stopped working.

I am using a power adapter to allow me to shoot with Canon/Tamron lenses. Could this be the issue?

Although my 50mm is Canon and it works fine.

how do you take decent photos innawoods?

I'd like to be proficient at it but it's hard to "see the trees for the forest." you mostly end up taking landscape or nature photos.

Why do large aperture telephoto lenses cost so much more than a lens with smaller aperture?

A 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lens costs up to $200, while a similar one with f/2.8 would cost over a thousand!

I'm new to DSLRs, so I don't really get it.

Takes more material and higher quality material to achieve that aperture. It's not as easy as just "making it larger". the glass has to also be larger, and the larger a round piece of glass is, the more it costs.
>>
>>3077582
Ah, I see. Simple enough.
>>
>>3077582
It's not just the extra material, it's the R&D involved in correcting the aberrations such a large piece of glass introduces while maintaining that aperture.
