Hey guys,
Just bought my first slr to learn photography on (canon ae-1) and am now thinking about doing an intro photography course at uni. I was wondering if there was a reason why so many of the portraits in photography seem to err on the side of nudes? It just seem kind of odd to me. Can't similar blocking/composition be achieved in clothed subjects?
People tend to be fascinated with the nude form - especially male photogs with female subjects. But there's plenty of non-nude portraiture out there.
women are fucking sexy dude
>>3091843
>Can't similar blocking/composition be achieved in clothed subjects?
Yes but spotty faced students and sleazy old men like to think the object of their fascination is art rather than just fap fodder.
Artistic nudes can be pleasing but 98% of the time they are just crass. Whereas porn at least is honest about the reason for its existence.
>24-2000mm
why cant any other manufacturer do this?
Be two years late delivering?

>bridge camera
Who cares?
How do you find models who are ok with having sex both on and off camera during a shoot? Somehow I don't think most girls on modelmayhem would be down for that. Also, what is a reasonable rate to pay for something like that?
>inb4 just hire a hooker
They're usually worn out whores who are anything but model material, even the "high end" ones.
If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
hey guys
ive been trying to get looks like these, i know that i can buy the exact presets, but you know, im 50/50 a cheap fuck and i want to make this stuff on my own

VSCO can do that in a press of a button but you would need lightroom.

you by any chance know which one of those hundreds vsco presets?
i use c1, so... still would have to somehow work that out, but i guess it could help me to have at least some kind of idea how it works
Apple decided to update their OS to 'High Sierra' edition, and it will come with tone curves for it's Photos editing software and it will be able to edit in Photoshop. Seems like Photos are getting close to what Aperture was, and I guess it will be even closer to Lightroom.
Is this update going to make any pressure on Lightroom, since it's free? What are the pros from editing in Photos and not in Lightroom or Capture One?
>>3091095
I really like that they've expanded the functionality of their stock editor, especially seeing as it was already pretty good. It suggests they actually respect their users' intelligence, as opposed to Windows' built-in editor which has been dumbed down every version and now only has 'colour' and 'light' sliders, a complete joke. However, I think I'll stick to Lightroom for the time being just because of the healing tool and the graduated/radial filters.
While we're on the subject, does anybody here use an iPad to edit pictures? I've been thinking about getting the new iPad Pro to use for photography, especially now when they announced that Affinity Photo will be on the iPad, so I'd either use that or Lightroom Mobile. And the iPad Pro probably has one of the best, if not the best screens on a mobile device, and having a stylus is a hundred times better than editing with the trackpad on a laptop.
>>3091146
I mean if you have the money to blow on it sure, I just don't really see it as a wise investment because you can do the all the same stuff and way more on a laptop.
Is video as important as still photography? Can a still photo capture everything a video can? Is video redundant?
Tbh photography is inferior as an artistic medium to paint.
Photography is the lowest form of any art medium. It's too easy to be great at.
>>3090822
I know you're a samefag OP but this board is proof that photography is not easy at all.
you know what's easy?
researching the best gear for your budget.
getting a good deal on craigslist.
ordering expired fuji film off rakuten.
calling things 'snapshits' and 'uninteresting'.
you know what's hard?
taking a picture that is technically well-executed, interesting to look at, and meaningful on a deeper level.
plebs here will claim you can have a good picture with only 1 or 2 of those 3 criteria, but you can't.

>People looking to get their photos critiqued please include the film, lens and camera used to give some context.

Because he's a gearfag.

How did Capa or (((Friedmann))) managed to avoid getting shelled while doing these shots? He was in the literal line of fire. Did he pull a classic jew trick like staging everything when all was under control?
maybe he was in cover himself you dumbass
Whenever I see Capa images all I can think of is what happened during development;
"While under constant fire Capa took 106 pictures, all but eleven of which were destroyed in a processing accident in the Life magazine photo lab in London."
Imagine you risk your life shooting a once in a life time event and some fucking tech ruins your negs. Holy shit!
