How does lightning affect photos?
Lighting is the photo
You wouldn't have a photo without lighting
>>3090743
This. In order to even see anything light has to bounce off of something in the first place, and proper lighting is essential because of absorption, that is, when light bounces it loses some of its wavelengths, which is one of the reasons fluorescent and sodium street lights looks like hot shit, they an extremely narrow light bandwidth that doesn't bounce well off anything.
I imagine lightning would destroy photos, much like it does trees, livestock, and the homes of those who did not sacrifice to Odin

I've never really liked smartphones, I like having stuff separate. I'm looking for a decent point-and-shoot camera, not too advanced, but it can't be all too simple either. Just something available for around $200 or so that takes decent images. I'm not a professional photographer, nor do I aspire to be one.
go find the gear thread
>>3090323
$200 doesn't get you much if you're not going used. Just pick something from here

That's what I was planning.
Hey guys, I am looking to buy a decent camera with zoom (at least 20x) and 15mp or above.
To get to the point: I don't know shit about modern cameras, I want something with good flash, digital and what not, maybe that can withstand a drop that cost 200$ or less
Can someone help orient me to as to what the fuck model I am looking for?

sounds like you want a shitty bridge camera, even though you shouldn't

Freelance marketing
Many smaller companies want nice videos to put on their social media sites. But you'll have to work closely with them and search for that work.
Drone footage
Many of the HUGE YT channels, like the ones that have stores and sell shit etc, have a dedicated cameraman/editor.
If you want constant cash, find someone with amazing talent and offer to mooch off of them
>>3090227
This is pretty accurate.
Smaller business (think doctors, car dealers, etc) often outsource social marketing. You can build a little book of business that way, or linkn up with the local agencies

Hell bro, you FIRE - you can make money with anything you want to do.
My fitness club is looking to get a new camera for shooting stage photos but none of us really have a clue on what to get.
Budget is max $1000.
So we need a camera and a lens. Main purpose is to shoot stage photos. So where the camera will be its gonna be dark, and bright ish light on stage, need a good lens for that I guess, and the competitors are standing still when posing, so cant imagine we need something super advanced?
Thanks a bunch in advance

Lens depends on how far the camera will be from stage, probably light telephoto with image stabilizing. Also you might want to consider a tripod.
Distance will probably be around 20 or so meters. And we have a tripod

Get a Sony A7RII and Gmaster 70-200mm 2.8, 100mm f2, and 85mm 1.4. If you're going to make an investment, buy the best there is.

Assuming the contact sheets shown are legit and not heavily doctored, she never second guessed a shot, they were all one shots, thats a very respectable trait on a photog (Eggleston was like this too).

Not a great photo. There's hardly any detail in the dark areas, and the colors are all wrong. I realize why you like it, but I imagine it looked much better in person.

I was wandering if anyone could show me what one of these shutters looks like, I'm trying to recreate this in 3D but the shutter is giving me a little issue. the camera is a DSC-HX20V. I gave it a go to what I thought it might look like and where the pivot point may be, but this is wrong. thanks in advance

At least once a month or so we get something like this on /p/. I honestly can never tell if it's serious or not.
Hello /p/, I come to you in time of great need.
Actually I am simply wondering if any of you have experience in photographing pieces of art for the sake of advertising and selling them.
Ive been using the Nikon Coolpix L110 (https://www.cnet.com/products/nikon-coolpix-l110/review/) but the pictures don't always come out nice and crisp and it doesn't look professional enough. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I joined a pic as an example.
Is it a matter of Mp? I don't think so because 10-12 Mp should be more than enough for small pictures right?
I was looking into this Olympus model perhaps: Olympus PEN E-PM2 16.1 MP (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Olympus-PEN-E-PM2-16-1-MP-Digital-Camera-White-Kit-w-M-Zuiko-Digital-II-14-4-/262962776461)
Anybody has experience with that model or with art pictures in general? How could I make my pics more neat and crisp?
Thank you
>>3089519
Are you shooting on manual
>>3090025
Regardless, OP. Shoot on the lowest ISO. Back that shit up and make sure your horizontals are actually level. Also make sure it is in focus. If it isn't "neat and crisp" you missed focus and/or your ISO is too high.
Lighting is your problem, but buying lights can be complicated and a little pricey considering the camera you're using. The easiest way to get good lighting for free is by placing it near a window. It'll cast a large soft light over your work and make it look much better. Everything beyond that is just exposure triangle stuff. A new camera will let you take photos with less light, but it cant fix poor quality light.
Did I overdo it with the high pass filter?
>dat white halo
It has white around it in the unedited RAW too, it could actually be part of the kite.
>>3089450
It's the kite that kind of ruins it, but if you can fix the halo on it you'll be fine.
it's possible
worst case scenario it can be edited out
good picture though, nice composition and pleasing contrast
>>3089450
Yes. If you have to ask, you know you've gone way the fuck overboard.
