The idea is to hide you when you're lying in the ground. When you're standing up or moving, everyone can see you anyway.
>>671837
>why don't you
Ugly pattern and does not fit with my environment.

Now that we have a fashion thread again, what is the best colour for /out/. For me it's olive drab.
>>
>>671837
Besides not being an appropriate regional pattern, wearing camo since the first gulf war, if you're not hunting or in the army, is for redneck trash.
>>
I don't own camo, even for hunting, but tiger stripe will always be my favorite looking
>>
>>671866

FLECTARN, BABY!
>>
>>671968
I wear camo in my state when hunting, or fishing.

Surplus is cheap and far more functional then anything else.

If you want photos of my sets and recommendations for new England let me know I'll post them.

PS Korean tiger striper is the best tiger stripe

From lower left corner to right.

5.11 TDU Pants and Trousers - Perfect for hunting Coyotes near and in local sand pits during the summer, and late fall hunting.

US Army Gas Mask Bag - modified as a small belt pack perfect for fishing tackle, light night hunting

Molle Canteen with metal cup - good for water and cooking beans with the metal cup

Rothco BDU in Urban [closest thing to getting Karst pattern without breaking the bank] Perfect for rocky coastal plains, an area which I hunt in occasionally.

Fox Rush Pack with A.L.I.C.E. and MOLLE attachment options perfect 2 day pack, attaches to a vest with ease, spacious, also carries a water bladder

MOLLE IFAIC with the medical essentials in coyote brown pouch

OD Dump pouch, perfect for carrying rocks, kindle, and whatever oddities you find while venturing

Woodland Mag Pouch, modified to carry my PRC-148

BARS Gorka 3 - my most used garmet set. Perfect for hot days in the forest, even better for cold days in pine forest with thermal layers underneath, rugged, and versatile, perfect for every NE season and green setting.

Afghan Pakol - warm when cold, cool when hot, gets bigger or smaller.

UnderArmour Valsetz RTS - extremely lightweight, waterproof, comfortable, rugged duty boot for fall, summer, spring

Swiss Poncho/Shelter Half - waterproof, excellent poncho for rainy days, also great to use for shelter

US Army BDU in Woodland - my primary late summer coyote hunting garmet, works well in farmland/forest

Keen Durand - My winter boots, warm, comfortable, waterproof.

Paladium Boots - leather with fur lining, with waterproof treatment, I wear these in the snow.

German Flecktarn Pants/Trousers - most comfortable garments I own. Typical worn for bird hunting, early fall NE forest is the best setting for this pattern.

US Army OD BDU [Vietnam Era] - great summer garmet, excellent for hunting in lush forest.

US Winter ACU - extremely warm, great for hunting coyotes after a fresh snowfall.

Left to right

US DCU Shirt - I wear this when hunting near sandpits, usually with OD pants so I can lay in wait for prey on the edge of sandpits.

British Wooly Pully - awesome under layer, I mostly use this under my Gorka when fly fishing. I shove my hand in the cold winter rivers with no worries while wearing this. Keeps me warm and dry, compliments any parka.

Fleece OD Shirt [surplus but can't find origin, contractor tag removed] excellent fall thermal, light and cozy.

US Issue Daun-Ray Undershirt, Cold Weather - my go-to winter thermal, don't need much else in the maine winters besides this and a gorka when hunting during long cold nights

Pelhem Marines Polertec Fleece - compliments the Daun-Ray thermal, as a backup.

Bottom - Marines blue button up shirt - perfect summer hiking shirt.

Tactical 5.11 Vest - great for bird hunting, and summer sporting, works well as a fishing vest.

Everything in both pictures [with the exception of the GORKA, Fox pack, firearms, dog, PRC, and IFIAC [or whatever the fuck its called] was purchased at Goodwills in and around Maine.

I hunt mostly for coyotes, in a wide variety of settings around the state, so having a good set of camo can really compliment your hunts. Coyotes have amazing sense of smell and sight, so anything to increase the probability of making a kill counts, blending in is the best chance to increase your odds. I also hunt birds, and small game for fly tying material, and the occasional snack. I tend to seek out surplus because it's cheap, easy to find in my area, and serves a variety of purpose, not to mention it's comfortable and durable.

I also fish throughout the year pretty much in any setting you can imagine, so being comfortable and outifitted to camp for long periods of times is nice, and easy with clothes that were meant to be used in the field.

There is literally no reason to spend obscene amounts of money on designer brands when going outdoors.
>>
>>672083
to be honest I hated camo, until I started hunting coyotes. the modern designer patterns are shit, and associated with rednecks, and hicks. Realtree is for faggots, Mossy Oak for gas station attendants.

I work in the hunting industry and from day one the best advice I have been given is "Don't spend your money on expensive outerwear you are going to replace in a year or so"

Not to mention almost everything I purchased at goodwill was under $5 so it's extremely cheap when outfitting yourself with surplus.

the US military refers to "pants" as trousers
>>
>>672077
What's the difference between the Gorka 3 and 4? I hear more about the 4.
>>
>>672521
There are many types of gorka and many manufacturer.

BARS and SPOSN are the best.

Gorka 4 is modern cut with one big stomach pocket. Gorka 3 is a few years older with two stomach pockets. The cuts, materials, and patterns dictate style.

It's the best piece of clothing I have ever bought. If not the best 100$ I have ever spent.

It seems like a meme. But it really is anything but.
>>
>>671866
>>671846
Actually camo isn't for hiding. It's for breaking up the human figure. It works not just to plain old eyes, but also IR cameras.
>>
>>672529
Would they be good to wear in the winter in Georgia?
>>
>>672641
Depends. You mean Georgia the state or Georgia the country?

I wear mine in the winter in MAINE. With a good thermal under layer its a phenomenal cold weather jacket because it blocks wind, and breathes well.

There is also a winter version by ANA, but my state card BARS Gorka-3 in Digital Camo works perfect in the cold.
>>
>>672650
State. I assume most people in the country of Georgia would already have them.
>>
>>672661
I'm not worried about it not being warm enough, I'm worried it might be too hot in the winter down here. I've never had experience with them so I thought I'd ask.

Well its a four season garment...

There is also the SPOSN Summer Gorka-E which would be perfect pattern and comfort for your setting.

I have a friend who imports them. I can drop his email in this thread if anyone wants

I do. they're gaudy as fuck. So i tossed em. BDUs never fit rite anyways. im in between a medium and a small so the waists are always goofy

Measure yourself for your NATO sizing then buy based off that. You will get a better fit.

Rothco, American Apparel INC, and Propper make good American BDUs and OD

Was fast, really nice and helpful. Shipping was quick and painless.

The kid is really nice kid, and was really helpful in fitting, and recommendations.
>>
>>673297
Cool, is there any site that has all of the different variants and camos that you know of?
>>
>>673301
This place had a large selection.

I think BARS stopped selling to the public, so it might be hard to find. I think the kid can get them(he got me my BARS) but he did mention I might be the last American to get an unissued BARS Gorka

http://www.soviet-propaganda.com/index.php/russian-military-clothing/gorka-suits.html

A lot of places sell them used. Mine was delivered sealed, from BARS factory completely new with tags.

Now that I'm looking around for brand new BARS, I'm not finding the same selections I did in December. I'm beginning to think I might have been the last westener to get one direct from factory.

Trllz(email provided in this thread) can provide you with more info.
