I wanna buy a kukri, any suggestions
>>
Buy a chainsaw, much scarier and can process more wood.
>>
DO some initial research and come back with some more specific questions, I mean fuck if you want something put in just a LITTLE effort, its not our prerogative to give you all the information you think you need.
>>
>>664983
not true. its easy to assume OP believes that someone else has put legwork in and found a model of kukri that isnt all show. this is his research moron

at OP, the sog sogfari is a popular kukri for both its price and effectiveness
>>
Make sure you don't accidentally buy a machete.

I recently purchased the Condor heavy duty kukri. I am very pleased with the quality of the damn thing. Plus the sheath is made of top shelf leather.

Do people know cold steel literally means its meant to be used for killing people? There is a historical context...

Its not thr best for clearing small wirey brush, but excellent for clearing thicker branches and splitting wood
>>
>>664968
Don't.
Khukri is a gateway meme to batoning.
>>
>>664968
The only one to consider.
>>
>>665160
This! All others are crap

Have you seen what the CEO looks like? It's a company for edgelords who think everything in their budk magazines are shit except cold steel which is designed for true combat
>>
>>665162
Is that a fucking d'k tahg
>>
>>665379
literal edgelords
>>
>>665155
Why would you baton with a Kukri when they split just fine by design?
>>
>>665088

Good thing it's cheap, then. You wouldn't want to toss a sebenza into a river after you killed someone with it.

I have an old discontinued USA made one from Cold Steel. It's a beast. Also >>665068 is correct
>>
>>664968
Don't get an original one.
Steel is a high carbon spring steel which can be sharpened within 30 seconds on the stone and dulls halfway through a Din A4 paper.
If you want to use it as a pry bar go for it, you can never break one of the full tang models, the steel is that thick and tough.

The Condor heavy kukri is nice.
http://www.amazon.com/Condor-Tools-Knives-Heavy-10-Inch/dp/B007QUVJ84/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452772612&sr=8-1&keywords=condor+kukri
It's 28% off right now.

For Traditional kukris, go for tora blades.
Second option would be himalayan imports.
>>
>>665237
Im talking about stuff that just bounces out of the way, blade is too heavy/thick to slice through
>>
Regimental Kukri Fixed Blade Knife on Bud k is very nice. Dont get me wrong though, just received mine three days ago and both the sharpening knives and scabbard are utter crap but thats not why youd buy it.(they say leather, I say cardboard dipped in red wax) The kukri is breathtakingly beautiful and is a very heavy piece

If you know the fucking spelling you know the fuck it is!

Pay attention to the handle comfort. Some handles are very decorative but shitty to hold and use.

Xbox huge kukris might sound really big and tough, but can be a bitch to handle. Stay away from the really big ones if it's your first purchase.

I'd say HI. There's also Tora Blades, but apparently they got hit pretty hard by the earthquakes in Nepal, so they estimate delivery in july 2016.
>>
>>665088
My cane is made by cold steel. It was designed specifically to be useful as a weapon.
>>
>>664968
>Any suggestions?

Yes. Don't pay for memes, they're free on the internet.
>>
>>667284

a kukri is not a meme.
>>
>>667200
I really wanna get a HI, but there fairly expensive. I want an m43 but they are out of my price range for a knife I'm gonna spend hacking on stuff. Been waiting for one to appear in a Deal of the Day.

I was thinking about Kukri House because their knives are a little cheaper. The one I was thinking about was around 70 bucks.

And yeah I have read up on Tora but they seem to take a long time to deliver.

I got a kukri from khukuri house based in nepal.
Made from really strong spring steel.
Shipping included, I paid around 70 bucks for it.
Comes with the sharpening knife (choctaw) and a small shitty skinning knife and a sheath made of wood wrapped in waterbuffalo hide.

I think it's a great knife and has served me well so far.
I've heard people say good things about most nepalese kukris: himalayan imports and khukuribladesdotcom
Also ontario kukri and cold steel are decent.

I'm currently looking into making a kydex sheath for this one so I can easily mount it to my battle belt and backpack.
>>
>>667634
Yeah I've got one also, no regrets
>>
>>667418
Yeah, it can be a bit much to swallow, but i'm really happy with my HI. Don't regret spending money on it.
>>
>>664983
This is a worthless post. I'm just as bad for replying to it but holy shit dude you must be a straight up asshole.
>>
anon you would be better off with an axe
>>
>>665077
I ordered one online and was disappointed when it arrived literally without an edge. It wasn't ground at all, just a blank of a machete and a plastic handle. But I'm pretty certain I could really fuck someone up with it, now that it's sharp.
>>
Live in jungle area, should I get Kukri, Machete, or Axe?
>>
>>670959

I'd get a machete. I was in Belize jungle with a guy who trained US military on jungle survival and he used a machete.
>>
>>670959
if you actually have to cut through the bush, cookery or muh sheddy. if you don't really need to be doing that but you need an acks, then you should probably just get a boring acks.
>>
>>670971
>>670959
More likely bushes than wooded areas. Any big differences between kukri and machete besides the look?
>>
>>670974

Kukri are often thicker and heavier, like the one in the OP pic. Some thin "kukri" are really more like kukri shaped machetes.
>>
>>665077
That's their machete, not their "real" kukri. I have one, it's a good machete, but it's about a quarter inch too thin to be a kukri.

>>664968
I have one that looks just about like the one in your pic, made by genuine Nepalese people from genuine used-up truck springs. That raised ring in the handle sucks. I ground mine off and will put another handle on it with a shape more ergonomic to me. I'm also going to treat the leading quarter inch of the blade with casenit because it doesn't hold an edge well.
