Going arrowhead hunting for the first time tomorrow. Any tips

I have artifact hunted on some land in Florida, where they were known to be.

We dug a hole, a big hole. and then you stand in this hole and use a shovel to expose the side of the hole, and look for arrowhead or spear heads sticking out the side. we found several, taking turns in the hole, and drinking beer. you need to be careful, because your shovel will break the tip off the arrowheads pretty easy.

Thanks! Also have you had any luck surface hunting? I live in Missouri and there's a few recently dried up creek beds around my area. I figured I'd walked through some of them. Its been raining a lot lately so I would think the rain would have uncovered some artifacts for me to stumble upon.

anything that was in a creek will be so eroded you wouldn't recognize it, at least I imagine that.
Around the edges of rivers/creeks may be good.
