Yep, those are trees.

Where did you get your degree? Masters or doctorate?
>>
>>658337
don't you have something better to do than troll?
>>
>>658346
>let me just post these tree trunks without the branch structure, leaves, seeds, or other major identifying features, surely I'll get a reply
>>
>>658329
That's definitely a white oak.

>>658332
90% sure that's a black cherry

>>658323
Don't know. We have this in my woods, and I know it's another type of oak, but I forget which one. Red oak, maybe?
The others I don't know.

>>658358
He got you to reply, so I guess it was enough.
>>
>>658323
Black walnut I think
>>658332
Seconding cherry
>>658333
Maple of some sort
>>
I'm only an informed layman and these are my best guesses. I claim no responsibility if you fail a dendrology quiz tomorrow because of me.

>>658323
Northern Red Oak
>>658325
American Elm?
>>658329
White Oak
>>658332
No idea
>>658333
Red Maple
>>
>>658414
It's definitely not a black walnut. I spent my boyhood days cracking walnuts on the driveway--I know what a walnut looks like, and this is not one. They've got more textured, darker bark. I'm going with red oak.
>>
>>658323
leaves are the key to ID dumbass
>>
>>658447
What do you think people do when they need to ID a tree in the dead of winter? Wait around until May?
>>
>>658456
this
>>
>>658323

It's a famas.
>>
>>658456
why do you need to know what type of tree it is?
>>
>>658323
Can you get a picture of the branches? The bud arrangement is telling.

thanks. i had a good idea of what was on this property and this narrows it down to the point where i can figure it out
>>658420
your right, i know enough to know that there are no black walnuts on the property
>>658711
got 80 acres and i like to forage so i'm gonna mushroom plug a bunch of trees
>>658764
i can get pics of the branches but no buds till spring
>>658456
pic related

>>658323
Possibly an elm?
>>
>>658332
Shagbark elm
>>
>>658332
>>658325
Shagbark elm OR shagbark hickory
>>
>>658323
second red oak, but I could believe it is a walnut if i saw the branching structure

>>658325
Going with an Osage orange as my first guess, but the pics are close so maybe a pignut hickory

>>658329
Definitely a white oak

>>658332
Definitely black cherry

>>658333
pretty sure red maple

I don't think A01 and A02 are the same they have completely different bark structure. Notice the interlacing bark pattern and orange coloration deeper on the A02 pic and how the A01 pic lacks any interlacing, staying fairly distinct and has no orange coloration
>>
>>658329
White oak
>>658333
Sycamore or beech tree
>>
>>659098
Ehhh, I don't think Orage orange would be in that area. Hickory seems more likely
