Do you like to throw and pick up and keep rocks while /out/?

Sometimes I roll over big boulders for fun. It's always interesting what's underneath and it's fun to test your strength. I believe I have flipped stones of around 400 or 450 lbs. (or 30 stone in bingbong) I keep many stones from certain camping outings and sometimes a memorable hike. I have one stone that is simply good to rub, very smooth, a sandstone riverbed stone.

What are you fishing for? A lot of people will put a snell hook on that and bottom fish for catfish, although more experienced fishermen usually prefer a free sliding fish-finder rig.

Are you a shittier human being if you care more about the environment and being outside than other people? I spent this fourth of July out with some friends and I noticed that I ignored every time a person had issues and focused instead on how everyone treated where we were and the land outside. It pisses me off that everyone disrespects this land.

Yes
>>
Nah, you're not a shitty human being.
Your interests are just different.
You probably feel more connections with the land, more than you do with your friends.
That's okay
>>
Environmentalists are horrible people because they don't care about the environment and they don't care about people they only care about pretending to care for the environment

I am wanting to get into reenacting. I am from the Midwest, and the majority of events within a 2 hour drive are Revolution/War of 1812. Anyone have a starter kit on a budget for this time era, or know any reenactment groups that go to the Vincennes Rendezvous? All help is appreciated.

Why does the east coast suck so much for doing /out/ shit?
>fight traffic to get to mole hills
>get to the mole hills and there is a dozen dreadlock hippies getting high at a trailhead
>walk the trail, it is literally a tiny loop
>can see towns from either side of the loop
>trains all night
>run into five groups of fat tourists
Appalachian trail is a shit meme
Largest mountain is barely over 2000m, average ridge is like 800m.
Are there any actual isolated places in the mid atlantic east coast or am I better off just waiting until I can back west again?
I mean the area is pretty and all, but it is like a park area on a single ridgeline with towns in the valleys, I am used to entire ranges being void of others

West is clearly more vast and remote, but I'm sure there's plenty of spots in NY and PA that satisfy those demands of seclusion.

It also helps to just not mind a few signs of humanity. East coast is comfier imo, just because it isn't the tallest and vastest doesn't mean it is automatically bad

Good god, these people need to stop expanding westward
>>1051571
Any exact locations? Or parts of ranges?
Gotta be honest with you, right now I am passing the furthest east peak over 4000m and feeling melancholy that I am heading east

Flashlight. Sturdy shoes. Work gloves. Cell phone. That's a fully charged cell phone, of course.

A common point of contention is whether you should bring items that can be construed as "burglary tools". Having them can get you access to spots you'd otherwise miss out on. But the flipside is, this shit is already a legal grey area--trespassing laws being what they are, a very dark legal grey area--and getting caught with them won't look good. It can get you access to places you'd otherwise miss out on, like the inside of a jail cell. And beyond yourself, it can fuck matters up for other urbex people, provoke crackdowns on them.

So there's a large contingent of people who swear against carrying prybars or bolt cutters. On the other hand, there's a vocal minority advocating the "don't be a giant pussy, cut through some padlocks" ethos.

It comes down to personal choice in the end.

So, fellow people. After trying to find something about it, and finding nothing useful (all was about detox diets and that stuff) i come here to ask you. Tomorrow i have an activity we do in ninjutsu, a martial art I practice. Its called Gotonpo and its more or less a fast intense class about different /out/ situations, actions and usefull stuff like mapping, orienting yourself and things like that. The thing is that during 24h we are not alowed to drink or eat. So i was wondering, since we start At 12, what should i eat for breakfast (ill take it At 8). Can you give me some advice?
Thanks in advance
Btw, the temperature will be around 10-20°C.

seems like a bad idea to be doing intense physical activity without food and water

Nice bait.
>>

Actually its not that intense. Its more like a class, different things are teached, in the woods of course, but you spend most of the time seating on the floor and practicing things like knots or ways to start a fire

Let's pretend his passion was Nascar driving...

Christopher McCandless sets off, from California in an old car he rebuilt himself (he replaced the fenders and painted it), on a trip to the Daytona 500. He only gets across the state line when he runs out of fuel because he forgot to fill it up. Instead of simply walking to the nearest gas station or flagging down help he decides to push his car over an embankment and set it on fire. He then proceeds to walk on foot to the nearest car lot (which happens to be in Mexico for some reason, mostly because he burned up his map in the car and he's been taking backroads.) He finds an old bicycle in a garbage dump and uses that.

He finally gets to the car lot and buys a fixer-upper for $50. Before leaving the car lot he has to change a tire, which he replaces with the solid rubber donut. He buys fuel and heads off to the Daytona 500 again. Only he's heading deeper into Mexico and eventually ends up broken down in front of, "Autodromo Internacional de la Jolla" due to no water in the radiator. The engine block has seized up. Luckily, there's a race about to start. Christopher...er "Alexander Superspeeder", who changed his name, pays the $125 entry fee for the race.

Unfortunately, Alexander Superspeeder doesn't have a race car. He does however have an old bicycle still. He uses the bicycle to race. He makes it only 3 laps before he is too tired to steer straight and veers off into a race car and is killed.

Some Jew picks up his story and writes a book about his life and how he followed his dreams. Another Jew makes a movie about it. Armchair racers around the world adore him.

The End.

The best set up is situation dependent. A set up for shade in a hot place of going to be way different to how you set up in a location where high wind and rain are likely.
>>
>>1029958

Can you even use a tarp in high wind?
