my fucking sides
I have no idea what is this about but seems pretty cringy regardless.
Moved to Charlotte NC a couple of months ago. Love it but I can't seem to find a place to go /out/. Any suggestions?
>>1067488
Crowders Mountain is a 30min drive away.
>8 mile ridgeline trail connects Kings Mountain, Crowders Mountain, and Kings Mountain Military Park through SC
>Kings Mountain just south of the NC border has a 16mi hiking trail and 20mi equestrian trail
>>1067488
Charlottefag here. Crowders is great, as well as a 2 hr drive west towards boone. The Blue Ridge kicks ass. There is also the linville gorge w/ hawksbeak mtn and tablerock mtn. Hope this helps
Where is the best place to camp in ohio?
I've camped in Wayne national forest, but there aren't any other national forests that I know of in Ohio.
Are there any secret places to go innawoods?
The nearest camping place to me is the Betty C. Black Recreational area.
Idk if you have to pay or not.
Its right along the maumee river, and theres only like 10 shitty camping spots, and a small woodsy area by it. Pretty shitty camping place.
But the fishings good.
It's all subjective. Depends on what you want. But all of Ohio is essentially the same aside from the topographical variances once you go south of Columbus. Cuyahoga Valley national Park is cool. Lots of hiking and biking spots. Some camping. You could just put up a tent far enough from a trail and you'd be set.
>mfw we get threads of people going to live alone in the woods in a daily basis
>never got a thread of them coming back
>>1067299
>>1067299
That is because none of them ever go
>parent(s) are mean to them
>want to run away
>have no job/money
>"can't I just live in the woods?"
>"isn't there a board about this?"
>"hey /out/ how do I live in the woods?"
>realize it's hard
>go back to pouting and shitposting
Biting black flies, poison ivy, mosquitoes, cold, wet, hunger, and hard physical activity are worse then joblessness and the smell of patchouli, they go back to being autistic loners.
Any advice for someone who has never been able to travel on how to deal with being with someone who has been to all the destinations you've wanted to go to?
>>1067173
Ignore them. We're all different and your journey is the destination.
>>1067173
By being with, I'm going to assume you mean your woman or whatever
Use their knowledge to go with them to the areas within the parts and monuments that they went to that few people visit.

19 yr old guy here,
About to go live in the nearby woods for 10 days to get away from my crazy family with nothing but a book and 5 bottles of water (there's a nearby drinking fountain to refill)-
-I need to lose weight (I'm kind of obese)
-I need to de-stress
-My mother and father are both alcoholic and are a huge pain in the ass
pic=not me but looks almost just like me
>I'm kind of obese
How bad is it? Height/weight wise?
Fuck her right in the pussy!
What are you going to eat? I assume the water foundtain is in a park or some sort? Is this land you're not supposed to be cambin on?
you guys play any board games when /out/? It just looks so comfy
When I go hunting I always play truco with my friends or whoever I find.
It's a really fast paced an entertaining game that only requires a deck of 40 cards so it's pretty easy to pack.
I always carry hive. Its a fun little game for two with fun mechanics.
Its a bit like chess, where each pieces moves a certain way and that you need to circle your opponent queen bee
>trying to get my dog to play a board game
I-I dont get it, are you s-suggesting I would h-have human companions to p..p...lay with?
I've always wanted to learn some really old dice games and maybe make my own dice even but...heh...he hard to play against yourself.
Hey /out/ I'm going hiking with a friend up by tonopah Nevada. I'm not local to the area (I'm from PA) so I don't know the local fauna. Are there any predators worth worrying about out in Nevada that would justify me bringing my handgun?
I'm. It local but been out here in Nevada a few months camping and backpacking for work. There are bears but I've yet to see one, other than that not much dangerous. It's an open carry staton though so fuck it bring your gun. If nothing else go blast shit on blm land for keks.
Nah I wouldn't worry too much about having a gun
I guess you could shoot a path in through the sagebrush to keep your delicate legs safe.
saw this place in an Adult Swim bump and just had to know what the place was, but the only pic of the bump I could find was in a video that applied an aesthic filter
somebody help a nigga out, please

damn inbred

Well if it was real it would look a hell lot like Mont Otemanu in Bora-Bora, French Polynesia
I do a lot of hiking in the Southwest and I'v been using a Camelback backpack for a long time (holds 3 liter reservoir and enough room for other shit). It's done a good job but it's beat to shit and I'm on the market for a new day hiking pack. I've heard a lot about Maxpedition but I've never tried on myself. I've been looking at their stuff and the Falcon II seems like a good day pack. It's compatible with 3 liter drink bladders and looks like it's got plenty of space for other shit. Anyone have experience with Maxpedition? It's a little pricy. Are these just for good old boys trying to play soldier or are they decent for day hikes in the desert/mountains?
overpriced...
>>1074429
I've got the same Falcon II as you've posted, OP. If you're willing to drop the cash it is a very well constructed day pack. I haven't been with it in heavy rain yet, but the coating is hydrophobic enough to keep your stuff dry. Maxpedition has a lot of accessories that are way too expensive for what they're worth, but any modular MOLLE attachments work fine. The one complaint I have about it is that the shoulder straps are not as comfortable as most. If you want something that has tactical styling, there are other cheaper packs on the market to shop around with.
>>1074429
If you're going to do any serious hiking, you want something that will have an airspace between your back and the bag. Everything else is just personal preference.
Not sure where to post it; it looks like it's a good olace but forgive me if it isn't.
Frenchfag here, my grandfather started a kind museum of ancient tools and someone gave him this weird shoe, but nobody actually knows what it was used for. Does anyone have any idea ?
What you have there appears to be the archetypal "oubliette d'épinard" (pikeman's camp-sandal), the design is of Gallo-Roman origin and would allow footsoldiers to warm their feet around a fire while also roasting meats and vegetables.
I'm pretty sure it's for climbing trees.
Typically there would be a rope that is held around the tree trunk and gets shimmed up the tree.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVJ3jdJu8SE
Op here, according to my grand father the sandal shows marks of arc welding, so it can't be really old.
Moreover, boots used for pole climbing are like pic related
Any other ideas ?
I'm taking one with me on my next bike tour. For Showering, Toilet or a light rain shelter. Too bad, that thing and it's bag are huge. It's basically the size of a bike tire. Other than that, I guess it's fine.
Anything I have to know or advise from seasoned popup tent users?
Why a popup tent? Just curious.
>>1073673
its up fast, water resistant, sounds good when you don't want to get completly drenched by rain and no other shelter is near.
>>1073690
>water resistant
The first thing I learned on my first big bike tour was that water 'resistance' is absolutely worthless. If it's not water PROOF it might as well be paper.
But, whatever floats your boat.

Talk about fishin
So I have to catch some bowfin for my angling club this month. Anybody have some good advice on catching one?
I've only caught one in my life and it was on a beatle spin
Creek shrimp are coming in nice though
>>1072949
Look for warm, shallow creeks. Throw bright, flashy lures or minnows at them, use heavy braid and hang on tight.

In for liking my new fly setup so far

Could antarctica be the perfect hermit refuge?
- solar panels
- wind turbines
- elevated structure to protect from permafrost
- water is certainly not an issue
- no internet (biggest and only downside)
