Uh yeah... I bet mom is proud champ.
Can we have a prepping thread going on? Long time no see.
Some topics to discuss
>Fitness
>Sustainable living
>Geography/Types of events you prepare for
>First aid training
>Individual/Family/Friends/Community prepping approach
I love reading threads on reddit, and other forms about bug out bags. The shit people want to take in the woods for three days is hilarious. I don't know what disaster they are preparing for.
>>1054636
>I don't know what disaster they are preparing for.
What do you mean?
>>1054636
Nearly every Western government recommends that their citizens have gear to let them survive at least 72 hours in case of a disaster. It gives their emergency management services time to get organized and deploy relief.
But since you ask, anything that might lead to an evacuation order: earthquake, hurricane, tsunami, wildfire, terrorist attack, civil disorder, volcano, flood, or large-scale industrial accident.
Nearly everywhere is subject to one threat or another. Such kits are also useful in small scale disasters like tornadoes or house fires.
Preparedness also encourages people to develop useful skills and a sense of self reliance. In a real emergency, having planned and prepped may not ready you for whatever actually happens, but it will enable me you to quickly adapt rather than panicking.

>>1049186
i liked the guy in the 2nd season who quit because he was having fun and thought that was selfish lmao
Can you get away with tarp camping this time of the year in the Pyrenees? My fucking tent weights fucking 3kg+, and I can't spend 200€ on one right now.
I either go /out/ with whatever gear I have or spend money buying new gear and wait until next summer to have a week long trip. Pls respond thanks.
>>1085171
yes, but bring a warm enough sleeping bag and bivi hull
>>1085171
I should say so, I just got back from hiking the GR11 and apart from in the Basque region and maybe three thunder storms the nights were dry. There are also loads of places to set up a good sheltered tarp. One of the guys I walked with for a bit was just using a poncho tarp and bivi. Just keep an eye on the clouds and pick your spots accordingly.
>>1085171
>>1085174
There is also a fair chance you could wake up to this.
Trabuco Canyon has some trails that are getting overgrown and I was wondering where is the best way to organize some people to volunteer to clear the trails?
>>1084632
Write up a proposal and send it to park officials, get a meeting with them to discuss forming a volunteer group who actually knows how to do that sort of work.
>>1084632
Also, what the fuck is up with people using mattocks without goggles and face shield? Holy fuck.
in nawth carolina I live near an old overgrown 50 mile uwharrie trail, we have a group of people that volunteer to work on trails and do a thru hike once a year together
Do they actually work?
I mean, are they worth carrying them?
I keep a similar set up in my rifle buttstock just in case I lose my pack for some reason.
It's always good to have first aid stuff with you. Altoids tin not essential.
I keep an altoids tin loaded with some basic medicine stuff like aspirin, ibuprofen, claritin, strepsils etc.
I'm interested in skateboarding but I have no idea where to start.
What's the best board I could buy as a beginner without spending too much money?
>>1083885
I honestly think the best way to get started, is to not procastinate it by thinking too much about what board to get and reading up on it, but just getting whatever cheap board you can and get out there and do it, so that the feel of the board becomes natural to you.. Pretty sure all stores selling skate supplies, have those 100$ beginner boards, which are just fine
what're the most silent type of skateboard wheels?
>>1083963
Kryptonics
What does /out/ think i should bring?
I am not gonna give you input of what i am taking
or already have because id just rather see everyone's ideas laid out for me.
Are you hiding in the hamper?
We need more info anon we are not mind readers.

Wut picture? The one you quoted I'm holding a bass. Does that look like the Intercoastal?
Anyway there is structure. It's under a bridge, where the river meets the intercoastal, under a bridge, a bunch of docks, sea walls, piers, and rocks. Bunch of needlefish and tiny little 4" cunts chasing my bait, and there were these slightly larger silver fish with black vertical stripes in the rocks but they weren't going for anything. It's basically the same spot I got the smaller jacks and some ladyfish have hit there too, but it's like one out of every 5 times I go something actually fucking bites the lures.
Inlet seems like it's probably the best but it's so goddamn crowded. I think if I do the inlet again, I might park by a beach further down and then walk like a mile back to the jetty and try to get out there. But it's a trek thru the sand with gear.
http://www.snopes.com/2017/08/15/plague-found-in-fleas-in-two-arizona-counties/
What do you guys think about this?
>>1082669
Well since Arizona isn't in a third world country, and penicillin is widely available, I don't think much about it.
>>1082669
Glad I'm not in Arizona, I guess.
Other than that I really don't care. Modern medicine and hygiene exists.
>>1082669
You do realize plague back then is like a bad cold nowadays ?
How does /out/ shit ?
By lowering my ass towards the ground and squeezing
>>1081635
On jogging paths when no on is looking, then i come back a day later and laugh at the shoe prints.
/out/ musician thread
What instruments do you bring when going out?
I need some tips, all comfy instruments i can think of are so heavy and big.
I mean, i could bring a kazoo but that isnt exactly comfy
>>1080793
Drum kit. It's a pain in the ass to carry, but I love to play them in the woods.
You should definately try, as the acoustic is far beyond compare to anything you've ever experienced. It's more profound and warm, and there's a slight primitive vibe which is much enjoyable.
In general I got /out/ with my wife, so she carries the gear and I take the drum kit but I guess you could also stuff the drums with all you need (stove, tarp, sleeping bag, drum sticks, ...) if you want to do it all by yourself.
tin whistle

An organ.
Who hurt our husbando?
>>1080587
He's a hack
>>1080592
Then why don't you go drink piss with your faggot SAS entertainer.
>>1080594
He is also a hack
Although he is a more credible and entertaining hack
What's /out/ opinion on bivouac shelters?
Sweaty and gay. Tarp ftw.
>>1080261
They're nice if your job requires you be /out/ and have to tear down and set up camp quickly.
might as well carry a 1 person tent for barely any extra weight - my vango is 1.2kg.
I can sit up and spread my shit out a little and have a vestibule for cooking.
You're pretty much gonna need a tarp with the bivvy anyways
What backpacks do you have for day trips? Is 35L too big?
The fuck? Just use your normal pack
>>1079529
>Carrying a backpack that's more than twice as big as it needs to be for no reason
Yeah no
>>1079520
>day trips
>35L
Unless you're carrying lots of gear to a specific activity that's way too big. My cheapshit 20L fits all I need, even my 10L eastpak is big enough. Fuck for day trips you don't even need a backpack.
