Why, when you clearly can't even be assed to look at the entirety of the first page or check the catalog?

Sage for your rampant laziness.

Sup /out/. I recently learned there's a 2 1/2 mile cave near me, but I'm a complete newfag to exploring caves. It's called Equality Cave, located in Shawnee. Any advice for exploring it? I was planning on purchasing a head lamp and bringing two back up lights and glow sticks if I really get fucked. Food and water for a couple days and some rope. Any advice on cave exploring, or personal experience with this one?

I'll post some pics of Shawnee I've taken, been there about fifteen twenty times. If anyone has questions regarding Shawnee I'd be glad to try and help, it's a nice park to explore. First pic is from Rim Rock, a neat place to explore and climb some. This is a crack in the rock that leads down a path.

Hey guys I'm a total noob but I want to go camping in pic related for a few days.
I'm wondering about what kind of stuff I need, obviously need a tent and sleeping bag, and a compass because of fog.
But what about food and water? Would a tiny gas cooker and some 'boil-in-the-bag' meals tide me over? I'd normally drink 3-5 liters of water a day at home but that would be extremely heavy to carry along with everything else, would probably sweat that much out just from carrying it.
What are some tips for travelling lightly you can give me?
In this enviroment there is pretty much no food or drinkable water, lots of flseh eating flies though.

There should be a few river streams about surely. You could fill up your water bottle using them.

I would pack your bag full of oats, candy bars and a few cheap steaks. Get a cheap gasfire stove (doesn't matter which one) and keep it in your tent.

Something to consider is a flask, a mess kit, and some tea bags to have a nice cup of tea.

Make sure you tell people where you're going too I guess.
>>
>>1079684
You're clearly in over your head. Don't think it's safe for you to go by yourself.

Nah man you cant drink that shit, even if you boil it. You are just asking for extreme ass pain, believe me I've been there

How much would it cost and what would I need to spend a night in the woods?
I'm planning to do it on a motorcycle too so I would need a large backpack or something that I'd factor into the cost.
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I've done this on a motorcycle for 14 days, slept at a few peoples houses 4 nights.

It costs about tree fiddy

Panniers are a pretty easy way of storage, tank bag is also super useful. Backpack for light stuff+water

I had the panniers and tank bag anyways but it's probably like 900 in gear and 200 in gas, food, and consumables

Any anons innawoods often in Texas? I'm saving up to get ahead on bills by a month or two ao I can afford to dip out and go survivalist for a month or two this winter.

I've done 1-2 week long trips before, but never anything as ling as a month. Any suggestions on things like locations here in Texas or things to do/build, etc.?

I'm a solo backpacker, not really by choice. I am constantly aware that if I become injured or ill I am on my own. Every step is planned. I am very careful with fire, guns, knives, and axes. I'm hesitant to take some risks before fully understanding the dangers posed.
I avoid some trails because of the potential for injury. Basically I plan more and do things more slower than most would

I remember a thread from a year or two ago where people talked about weird occurrences while out hiking, camping, on the road, just being out in the wilderness.

Situations of things like possibly seeing a UFO or some kind of dream like encounter, something / someone rummaging through a campers bag right next to him while he slept at night, going cliff jumping and possibly have run into a murderer, moving into a house in the mountains to have dead kittens end of on your door step, people having their shoes taken while they nap at a river and someone leaves a neat pile of rocks in it's place.

One of the stories I remember:
>In Tennessee
>Drive out to river/cliff jumping spot with cave tunnels, is located in a state park
>Guy and girl together
>No one else there
>Cliff jumping going swell
>There's multiple paths up to the jumping platform, tall maze like walls
>Girl and guy go back up to jump again, take different paths
>Guy takes longer path, tries to beat girl who he thought took shorter path
>Get to top and don't find girl, doesn't show up after a couple minutes
>Go back down path and to other route / cave area
>Inspect path girl took, find old dried blood
>Search cave route, finally find girl walking back, it's been several minutes since guy started looking
>Guy asks where the fuck she went
>Girl says she took the long route and got lost but the park ranger helped her
>Says it seemed like he didn't really know where he was going, only reason she got back was because she followed different light sources
>Guy has been coming here for years, says there aren't park rangers
>Get a little freaked out and leave
>Return to the car to find that their backpack was rummaged through and metal water bottle taken
>Leave

Anyone have some similar stories? Can even just be the weirded experience of your life, extreme deja vu? synchronicity? spiritual encounter?

What kind of camping? How are you getting to your campsite? How many people are going with you? How long are you going to be out?

Really need some extra parameters here before we can give you useful advice.

That being said I'm very partial to the Ospray Atmos backpack. If you're only going to be doing weekends in summer it's plenty big.
