Hello out. I am planning the logistic for a hike trip. I can spend about £480 for 10 nights at a few different hostels or I can camp on their grounds for £90ish total. But it means carrying a tent along multiple challenging routes for 10-12 miles a day.

What should I do. Thank you out.

I'm about 6'3" and 180 lbs. Most of my weight is in my legs. My crew is doing the most rigorous course. I have basically all the eagle required ones except a partial in personal fitness and personal management.

Anyone has any info if will they deliver?

I've used those, they work surprisingly well. Would recommend getting an adapter and a regular sawyer filter instead though so you can make a cheap but great gravity system.
>>
>>954294
What is this? I can't find anything about a Sawyer mini that filters viruses.

this is the new stuff that sawyer said it would release in this year's spring. It's a complement for your filter.

Any time you handle it, wear safety glasses. Learn to keep it away from everything that is metal.

Use a bag over it to prevent metal dust and shavings from clinging to it. If they do and you touch them, they tend to stab through your skin. Don't ever get yourself between the magnet and anything metal. Ever.

dude the west is so different than the east. im pretty shitty on the east coast but the snow is so much better tin the west that i could be just 100 times more confident.

the blacks are more "serious" but because the snow is so much better its easier in the end.

brek is pretty resorty so its hard to die if you stay on the main parts of the resort. im sure there are some back bowls that are absurdly hard but i never went there.

>People who ONLY fly fish are 100% old men who have trust funds backing them and pay guides to tie every tippet, line, hook on, etc etc and act superior because of it.
>Guys who only fly fish are basically the tweed wearing golfers of the ocean, lake, and river. They act like it's a sport but any sport you can weigh 300 pounds and be shuffled around in a cart or boat by a minority you pay for and drink booze while doing is not a sport. Fishing is a sport in the same way video games are a sport. They both just require knowledge and experience, not massive physical skill. No one is running sprints or getting tackled fishing. Maybe reeling in monster sharks is a workout but still. You will never do it enough to get in shape.
>The real issue is that guys who only fly fish talk about how much of challenge it is but it's really only a challenge because they can't cast well. If you can cast well its as easy as normal artificial fishing especially with the super well done fly and bait fish imitations they make these days. These people fly fishing 10 times a year and say it's hard because they never do it enough to actually become competent. Guys even tie on live bait and fly cast it and say they caught their permit on a fly rod. It's a joke.

>>

Put them under a bobber and pop the bobber towards you in a jigging motion. That's how I catch all my crappie.

Or cast them adjacent to cover and jig them away from the stuff you get hung up on. Fish will come grab them if they want them.

A friend and I are planning a road trip from the Canadian East coast, to California. It's about 6000 miles for most routes. We plan on saving as much money as possible by mostly camping and sleeping in our car on the way there, and once there. I'm not American so im unfamiliar with the laws on camping, or how easy it is to do so in the states. Is it easy to get from the highways to spots where we could camp or sleep in our cars? Will people fuck with us?
Any american traveling tips or stories welcome in this thread as well.

>Driven across the US several times
>Driven from NJ to Alaska
On the highway there are rest areas, although not as many as there used to be. You can sleep in your car in rest areas and even stealth camp in some rest areas too.
You can also camp in national forests and BLM land
Get a good map. You don't usually have to camp in campgrounds in a national forest or BLM land and these lands are often full of logging roads
Just pull of the road onto a logging road and look for a good place to camp
Always carry a couple of gallons of water in your vehicle
>Will people fuck with us?
That depends on you, and where you are, but generally the answer is no
>>
>>952654
Take your time, don't spend a day in anza borrego national park when you could spend a while lifetime there.
>>
I drove from Florida to Alaska. If you're in a bind there is an app that tells you which Walmart allows overnight parking. Then just park near the RV people. Before you think "fuck that!!" It's kinda nice waking up and using the restroom and getting breakfast.

lets share tips for more enjoyable outdoor experience.

here is my advice for staying warm at night
>thick layers under you, more bedding the better
>warm sleeping bag or two less warm sleeping bags inside each other
>use a liner bag to save ware and cleaning and also keep you more warm
>a cotton liner will give aproximately 3-4 degrees warmer, the same for silk liner but a fleece liner will give you 5-8 degrees dependent on thickness but adds more weight
>go to bed warm, full (food) and dry, change sweatunderwear
>sleep in wool underlayer and wool socks
>sleep with a wool balaclava or wool beanie and or a scarf/buff/neckerchief because 80% of heatloss in a lseeping bag is the neck/face/head
>sinch the face opening of the sleeping bag
>fill waterbottles with hot water and put them in your bag with a wool sock over them
>only dry socks in a sleepingingbag too much damp cloths and your bodyheat will not dry them
>place damp clothes under your sleeping bag between your matt, this will give extra insulation from the ground and dry them out a bit until morning
>if your feet a very cold empty your backpack or fill it with dry spare clothes and stick the bottom of your sleeping bag into you backpack
>if you need to pee, GET UP AND PEE, your body uses a lot of energy(physically and mentally) keeping the piss inside you warm, you dont need that energy use and it could be better used keeping you warm longer
>do push-ups, crunches while inside your sleeping bag but not so much that you start to sweat, this will kickstart your heat
>use earplugs if your are in a tent with a lot of people or the forest is making spoopy noises

hope this helps someone out there

feel free to share your tips and tricks in this thread! we can all use a little learning!

This guy survived for well over a year without any shelter or supplies or prior preparation.

How come you faggots claim its impossible for someone to live /innawoods/ where there's much more abundant food options/shelter and prior planning for a long period without any human contact?

I still call bullshit no way he was in the ocean for that long. But it's still easier to fish then hunt with your bare hands in winter.

What kind of foods do you take with you on your /out/ings? Personally, I love oranges. Let's of sugar for energy and nutrients to keep you going. And the best part is the peel is biodegradable so you can just drop them as you go. But oranges just aren't enough. Any other suggestions?

Honest question: if a coyote harrasses and attacks my dog, or myself, am I permitted by law to defend my pet and I? Can I shoot and kill said coyote? Assume that we are out of furbearer/predator season, and in a rather suburban/lightly urban setting.
