>crunching the numbers
>have to sell 18 egg cartons per day, for 365 days, to make a living
Welp, Christmas is cancelled.
What are you growing/raising?
How much are you getting for it?
>>961264
brah what else you got besides chiggins? you should diversify your portfolio. my neighbors do bees, vedgies, and chiggins and they seem to do pretty well. they also have shep and goats but i don't know if they shear or slaughter them at all †bh.
if you can get a couple healthy bee colonies going your garden and honey options will bring in more money.
also depending on where you live there's a potential goldmine that few have the stomach for: olives. olive trees take years before they start bearing fruit but people absolutely lose their feces over fresh olives, oil, tepanades, etc.
>>961284
Diversifying means you have to find new buyers for another product.
Could sell a head of cauliflower for the price of a carton of eggs. Single head takes 3 months to grow.
Could sell whole chicken for the price of two carton of eggs. Single chicken would take 3 months to grow too.
I price everything in egg cartoons btw.

Well i was thinking that having more stuff available will bring more people, even if some of that stuff isn't, in itself, especially profitable. it's kinda like offering free coffee or something and then people come for the coffee and leave with a carton of eggs. give the kids a free spoonful of honey and their parents will buy shit. idunno man, people seem to make it werk. as long as every other person in your town isn't already running a farmstand or similar.
Any /out/fags in Northumberland, UK? I'm used to going out by myself but it's getting a bit boring now, feels like it might be better with someone else
Join the BMC. Gives you loads of access to other people who like being /out/ plus you get a discount if loads of shops.
Facebook groups for your area, I found a decent bunch that way.

Thanks for the tl;dr. Saved me wasting my time on it

Not even joking, they spend the whole video talking shit and fucking around. Nothing of value.
Well, /out/, I need an outdoor pack. I do a lot of hiking and camping, with a fair amount of hunting with a rifle in between. Any recommendations for a good pack? Either a style or model, any suggestions are welcome.
I'm in Western Canada, which is relevant to available retailers.
>>960010
get an external frame and build your own to what your needs are

Badlands packs are pretty good for /out/ or hunting activities.

Or you can get a Molle 2 Rucksack

So you are half way through a multi day walk and you wake up with that feeling. Your throat is starting to swell, swallowing is painful, and your nose is glued shut with thick green snot. You still have multiple days walking ahead of you. What do you do? What is in your pack to fix this? What have you been doing to try and avoid this situation?

Colds or flu are density dependent and I get them because I am surrounded by infected people
I've never gotten any kind of respiratory illness /out/
I guess I would just have to tough it out
Gastrointestinal problems are real common though
I once talked to a wilderness rescue person and they said it was their number one reason for evacuating people
I try to bring some Imodium on long trips, make sure my cook-set is clean, and every once in a while I boil my spoon
>>959408
>Imodium
I was talking to someone about how dangerous imodium can be. They got some sort of bug or parasite while out. They took imodium to stop them from crapping but end up incubating what ever it was and making it ten times. Will try and get more details off them as I have forgotten the key bits.

Checked
I've never had to use it, but brought it along in case of emergencies
I'll have to check my first aid kit to see if it is still there since it has probably expired
I think you aren't supposed to use it for over 48 hours, or if you have fever or bloody stools

What are all possible types of fuel you can use in a pocket/outdoors/emergency stove? If you could, include convention store bought fuel and random fuels that would be scavenged in an emergency event.
Hydrolyze water
>>958067
I just use a rocket stove and shove in anything flammable (usually sticks).
rubbing alcohol
or Sterno "entertainment cooking fuel Great stuff for go bags also of course
Get a propane camping size , walmart and a jet torch for the top another great tool in bug out gear . It can attach to and propane tank .
So I have put this together and I'd like some feedback. Any models missings in the list?
The list is in no particular order and consists only of tents that can be more or less easily acquired in Europe and cost less than 300 britbongs.
Nemo Hornet 2P is an exception because it's cool like that
bumpity bump
How come you can't calculate area from the dimensions?
>>958169
The tent floor is not exactly rectangular in many cases and while more often than not they give you the distances so you can calculate, sometimes they don't, Vango is the main offender for this. I could have extrapolated but I went turbo /out/ist and didn`t want to.
It's a similar to volumes, initially I thought about calculating them but some of the shapes are very complex and I am no mathematician nor had enough data anyway.

Still looking for good stuff for the Pastebin and Imgur. Maybe we can get a list of Youtube vids and put them in the Pastebin or keep a couple important ones in the OP.

Might be a retard question, but...
Would ANY light do for growing plants?
Like, would reflecting candle light (a lot of it) onto the plant be the same as a using a light bulb or the sun?
>>960787
No, you need ultraviolets.
>>960787
I always wondered if I pointed s video camera at the sun if I could use a high def TV to grow plants with?
After some time off for winter I've finally pulled my finger out and gone back to my allotment. Here it is, it's a work in progress. Let me see yours and feel free to give me any pointers.
My pond and herb garden
This is a new plot that I've just taken on its next door to mine and the person just gave up so to save myself getting all the weeds I've got it, it's got a lot of fruit trees so I'm using it as a fruit garden, should look good after a bit of elbow grease
So I'm doing my first winter camping trip. What should I keep in mind when it comes to staying alive
>>958881
>too stupid to include critical information like location, duration and style in question
>expects to survive any situation where someone isn't holding his hand and spoonfeeding him
i'd honestly be impressed if you could stay alive in a holiday inn in orlando, you fucking retard

This is going to be right in your backyard right? Because that is where you start when you do something completely new. That way you learn about the equipment you already own and will learn what you will need when you finally go out into the wilderness to do that. Same goes for the skills needed.
The biggest thing is learning to recognize hypothermia & frost bite and how to prevent them so get googling on that.
Not sure where to post this thread. Recently became interested in welding. Didn't realize how much those guys make, even though I'm interested only as a hobby.
I have a few questions:
1) How dangerous?
2) What cool shit can you weld?
3)Can I do this drunk?
4) Can I make swords like a black smith?
that about sums it up
Fuck you, this is NOT the place for that. You moronic nimwitted rectal baby. Ya dun'goofed.

Been wanting to go camping on free BLM land but not sure if I'm fully prepared to. I camp often but in campgrounds. Tips? Things to know/have before camping outside of campgrounds? Specific location is Southern California.

what the fuck do you think is different about dispersed camping from campground camping except saving $20 a night?
