Are these any good at all? Not planning any hard use, just something to toss in my car in case I go off the road.
>>958421
no. don't buy that.
An Old Hickory kitchen knife form Wal-Mart for the same price would be much better.
>>958421
Theyre fun to play with
Hey guys, so me and my buddy were having a smoke when we heard a coyote calling like crazy just over the house, so we went chasing after it (almost killed the one of the fuckers too) anyways, we came across these remains right by where the coyote was calling. My buddy thinks its a dog but the teeth don't look like it to me... Anyone on hear that can positively ID what these coyotes mauled?
P.S. yes I know that this wasnt killed right before we stumbled on it and has been sitting there for a while.

Why did you chase the coyote?
>>953365
They have been taking neighbors dogs, cats and are considered a pest in my state.
24 yrs. old, no sexual desires, no job/degree, no friends no desire for any. No obligations. Devoid of ambition, no will to provoke hunger. Insufficiently suicidal to pursue it, sufficiently to have already figured it out. Not desperate to live, still willing, but lost all perspective. Give me yours what would you do?
I want out of here alive or dead, basically.. but am not willing to pay my dues.
physically healthy, mentally.. doubt it.
I'm serious please only real answers.

This is why Europe is losing to scabby troglodytes.

Thanks for your invaluable contribution, i think i seen the light, anon. Seriously thank you so fucking much
Sup /out/, don't visit you guys too often but you're one of the few boards that have a good reputation on the other boards.
I live in SoFlo and recently started hiking as a hobby on my days off from boxing/work. Anyone know of any great trails in the Everglades to smoke a joint and take a nice long hike in?
I have been to Markham and High Taylor State park. Broward does not have too many parks unfortunately.
>>952266
There's a park up in Delray I think, just north of where Atlantic meets 441 and there are some paths and trails though there. Never really went down the paths since I just went there to fish in the canals but I think they wind around through the trees. Called Loxtahatchee Park I think.
There's also another Loxtahatchee Park or Preserve closer to Parkland/Deerfield. Take Hillsboro west until it ends at Loxtahatchee Rd and go west on Loxtahatchee until it ends. I think University goes thru to that road too. And then there is some shit at Everglades Holiday Park where Griffin Rd hits US-27 but idk about paths. Also the Sawgrass Expy and Commercial or Atlantic, there is a little parking lot and you get to some paths back there.
The two Loxtahatchees are def worth checking out. The one closer to Parkland and Deerfield is pretty easy to get to from the Sawgrass and I have walked down the one path maybe like a mile to get to this bridge and it keeps going. They rent kayaks at the one in Delray.
>>952281
Shit man thank you very much.
I feel so stupid, the Everglades has been in my backyard all these years and I've never taken the time to appreciate it. I just saw the trail by Sawgrass I may check those out.
There's also a ton of parks on Alligator Alley and Tamiami Trail that look juicy. Im going to try to hit up as much as I can before the wet season.
I appreciate your help. Are you from South Florida?
>>952288
Not from here but I live here.
And yeah there are a couple areas to pull off along I-75 but never been out to them much.
Pic related is the Loxtahatchee Rd one in Parkland. You can go on Google Maps and see some pics of the area. Those few gravel paths are gated so you can't drive down them but you can walk forever down them.
That Loxtahatchee in Delray has some potential too. Went over there once to try and fish and I remember seeing a bunch of paths that branch off the main road going back into the trees n shit.
who here uses trekking poles?
what kind of hiking do you do? seems like they might be nice in real rocky terrain or if you're doing a lot of climbing but otherwise they seem like just another thing to bring with you...
>>960412
>who here uses trekking poles?
all the faggots who now can barely take 2 steps on a flat gravel city park trail without twisting an ankle
to use a crutch is to become reliant on a crutch. never start, or you'll never be able to go anywhere without them.

Hey it's stabilizing muscle guy
How is the back country, parkour, ninjutsu going?
Me and few pals like to listen to music while camping. The thing is that so far we used someones car to achieve that. We want to figure out another method like lugging up a stand alone system.
Have any of you guys done that and can you recommend a particular product that does the job right?
Also can these karaoke speakers get powered by a car battery?
I have jbl charge 2. Its great. Loud as hell, you can throw a small party with that thing
>>959695
Do you know how much a car battery weighs?
There are a million decent bluetooth speakers these days and you could bring along a bunch of USB power packs if you wanted to I guess. But if you want to go full concert mode, just bring a small generator and some real speakers.
>>959714
This is a good one. If you want to save a few more bucks...I can recommend the Anker soundcore sport xl, waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, 15 hour battery life and you can charge other devices off of it.
Besides climbing, why I need a Carabiner in my backpack?
>>956643
Your fucking keyring don't lost /out/, dumbass.
How will you be able to drive back to your two room shithole apt and thendrive to the trendy downtown microbrew?
>>956643
You don't but it looks cool and makes normies think you're an hardcore /out/ist.
>>956643
you mostly won't need a climbing rated Carabiner.
But other clips just give you the ability to clip stuff together, how is this a question?
To mix a bit of /x/ with /out/, has anyone here ever found anything paranormal or even just artifacts when out in the wild before? I ask because I became interested in legends of Giant skeletons being discovered in British Columbia. There are also native burial sites and potentially very old caves that have undiscovered artifacts, given the expansive size of the province.
>>963124
>To mix a bit of /x/
don't. keep it in /x/. we already have that retarded ufo thread shitting up this board, we don't need more spill-over

So I just bought new hiking boots and I've been trying them out at home for a bit.
My foot is a fucking freak, I basically have a very wide forefoot and a very narrow heel.
I've only done some very light walking around inside and have been sitting with them on so it's still early, however when I simply sit with them on an evening, they kinda press on the front of my feet. But then again, sitting with your feet up isn't exactly natural so maybe I'm just worring more than I should?
I figure I need to try to clean with them on later today to get a better feel.
Any tips?
takea a bath with them on

ah, /out/ memes, a delectable treat
Anyone here a Park Ranger or Game Warden? What do you do all day?
>>960160
Lol. Last game warden i met told me they do a basic training thing. And he gave me his card. Told me to sober up and apply.
Its 10am and im drunk. Sry texas. I want to serve you but i'm indisposed at the moment
>>960160
I'm a (((Biological Science Technician))) and I get paid to hike, handle animals, spray invasive weeds, and whatever random bullshit they need done day to day.
Canuck here. I worked as a park ranger one summer between highschool. My job was to drive a truck around and walk trails and maintain them. If plots were messy I would clean them up. Pretty chill job took a lot of afternoon naps by the lake.
Wtf is this plant (found in NC )
>>959918
Skunk cabbage
>>959918
Also, it's a wetland plant that relies on ground water. Indicator of either ground water seepage or vernal pools. Check out the Wikipedia page for it. Interesting plant.
>>959922
To add to your mention of it being a wetland plant. The proper terminology is wetland obligate hydrophyte.
Hey boys, /k/ommando here. So about an hour ago, I spent about $140 on the following.
-Big ass backpack
-Hatchet
-First Aid Gear
-Folding Saw
-Knife
-Multitool
-Hygiene items
-Headlamp
-Flares
What other things would you deem necessary for a camping or bugout bag? I still need a tent/hammock, and I'm not sure where I should be looking for that, either. Pls halp, /out/.
Gloves depending on climate sleeping bag and/or tent
>>959628
For camping just shelter and food really. Since you're from /k/ just add (you don't really have to) your handgun/rifle/whatever floats your boat and you're done.
For prepping it's pretty much the same shit, food and shelter. Natural disasters are the only thing that can really happen so don't over complicate it, full societal collapse it's never going to happen.
>>959628
ok, bring what you think you need. For a beginner I would start with:
> water
> food
> Rain jacket/pants or poncho
> sleeping bag
> sleeping mat
> shoes
> spare set of cloths
> swim wear
I skiped some items you already listed.
Helped an old friend move and he gave me this. It's a good size and weighted well, but not sharpened. How should I sharpen it, /out/?
Use a ten inch bastard cut mill file to set the initial edge. Use an axe puck to take off the burr and keep it sharp.
>>959271
https://www.machetespecialists.com/buying-guide/sharpening-your-machete/
>>959276
This. Once you get the initial edge, take the puck and work in small circles up and down the blade.
Don't do that long stroke down the edge like the bad ass guy in that one movie did, even thought it makes a cool "shhhhhhhiiiiiiiiinnk" sound.
Some 3-in-1 oil will help the sharpening and keep the edge from rusting, too.
Hey /out/.
Around May this year I will be going to Park City, Utah to build a big ass house for the next two summers. Never been there before.
Where are the best places to go /out/?
>I am willing to travel anywhere within the state
Cathedral Valley, Canyonlands, White Rim, Burr Trail, fuck there's so much /out/ in Utah to list. Zion/Arches/Bryce are disgustingly busy with foreign tourists though. Try to find Everett Ruess' dead body.
>>958600
Yeah I want to avoid tourists at all costs. Thanks for the info.
>>958589
You're building a tabernacle, aren't you?
I'm looking for a good pair of men's hiking boots. These Salomon Discovery GTX boots caught my eye. They are $111 in REI's clearance "garage" on their website. They are about $100 on Amazon.
They are fairly cheap price wise in regards to hiking boots.
Anyone have experience with these or Solomon in general?
Will these be worth it for moderate hiking or should I hold off and invest a little more money in a pair?
I'm assuming boots will get more pricy once spring rolls around. Should I bite the bullet or hold off for something else? There are no reviews on REI and the reviews are pretty mixed on Amazon (although I've never really trusted Amazon reviews)
>>958282
I'm not familiar with those but my entry level boot is the Merrell Moab. Yours appear to be within the same price range as the waterproof Moab.
I wore out a pair of Merrells in about two years of fairly consistent hiking (all weekend every weekend with some longer stints here and there). So, if you consider that moderate then they definitely held up.
How many miles are you looking at doing at a time? How often? What sort of terrain are you looking at hiking? Most often it's a good idea to get a cheap boot because you either won't use it very much or the terrain isn't challenging at all
>>958338
Thanks, I'll definitely check those out. I have some basic woods trails near me. I try to get out at least once a week and do a few miles. I also may be going out west in a few months with some friends.
We're definitely going to Red Rock Canyon outside of Vegas and we may swing down to Arizona (Flagstaff, Sedona, etc.)
