Hi everyone, I have been working on the flower beds in my new home, and the prior owners had neglected them, so there are many weeds springing up. One of them is in the picture, and I can't identify it, but it has come up the most and fastest. Is this a form of wild carrot? And if I transplant the future ones that spring up to my garden, would I be able to harvest and eat them? Thanks for your help.

Thanks!

Looks like parsley to me anon.
"The Three Essential Tools of Humanity are Fire, Blade Technology, and Language. These are tools we use to make the environment useful beyond our physicality. As long as we retain these three basic technologies, we will remain Alive and Human".
Is there a flaw in this statement? What else would we need to survive if everywhere were /out/?

I'd say cordage is as important as blades. You need to be able to use both to really make the most of bladed tools
What medical supplies do you take /out/ with you? I see a lot of anons dragging 'first aid kits' with them, but I rarely get descriptions of the contents.
Personally, if I were to take a kit, it would include only essentials like adrenaline, arterial tourniquets and OPAs: omitting non-essentials like plasters and creams.
That said, perhaps preparing for the common and trivial scenarios rather than the rare and critical would do more benefit when the numbers are considered.
How do you feel?
I basically just bring some bandages, gauze and some antiseptic wipes personally

Where do you buy adrenaline?

do you even secure airway, faggot?
moving past the blatant troll op, i bring

Anyone ever hear about/read about the North Pond Hermit? Been a few years now but dude lived innawoods in Maine just outside town for 27 years never making contact with another soul. Stole all his food and supplies from local families, buried all his trash and books he had finished reading in his campsite. Never lit a fire, ate mostly junk food, always kept his face clean shaven and looked like a normal ass dude (until he got convicted, then he grew the beard) The local towns people got pissed about a phantom always stealing their produce so set up security cams and finally nabbed him. The feds diagnosed him as an Aspie, no surprise. Super intriguing tale, wish I had more info on this guys life. This article is about as good at there is out there, he was a recluse so he didnt tell many people his tale and you can tell he was even annoyed by the interviews. Thoughts on the hermit life /out/?

Good gear that's being overtaken by frat faggots
May need to abandon brand soon

ugh true. They seem to be attempting to quell that tho. I like how they're dedicated to conservation.

You do see the hypocrisy, right?
I'm sure a lot of you guys were scouts when younger and went to camps. This thread's for all those stories creepy, gross, funny and in between that happened at scout camp. I've worked as a camp counselor for years and have a fair share of counselor stories, so camp counselors please contribute as well.
>2010
>bigass scout camp that covers several thousand acres
>have general subcamps and outpost areas for miscellaneous activities
>one of the most popular is the BMX course
>middle of the summer a group of scouts goes there
>one kid wipes out and flies off his bike
>happens all the time, staff running the course shrugs it off
>kid gets up and there's a huge rip down his jeans
>staff tells the kid to go innawoods and make sure he didn't bruise because youth protection
>kid comes back pale saying he needs to go to the hospital
>turns out the handlebar ripped through his pants
>down his leg
>ripped his scrotum open
>kid has to cup his balls to keep the junk from coming out as he's taken to health and then the hospital
>ends up getting 60 stitches
>never screamed or cried, probably because he was in pure shock
>>977087
It was 2010, chances are he was wanting to get a sex change sooner or later. Handle bar was just starting a job he wanted done.

What is it with bikes and accidents at Scout camps?
>Camp my troop went to every summer would rent mountain bikes
>Couldn't adjust the seats, so there was a height requirement
>Annoying (probably autistic) kid too short for a bike sneaks into the group getting bikes one evening
>Everyone tears off down the trail without him
>He's whining and trying to catch up
>Has to stand on the pedals because he can't reach them from the seat
>Come to first downhill stretch and go around first curve
>Hear the distant whine of annoying kid trying to catch up
>Everyone stops as if on cue
Later find out that all of us were wondering if he'd be able to handle the curve
>Glorious view of him screaming down the hill and crashing into the trees
He thought the brakes were in the pedals like on little kid bikes, had no idea what the brake handles were for
>Everyone grudgingly goes over to see if he's dead or not
>He's moving, guess he's alive
>Holy shit, his ear is hanging by a flap of skin
This camp is something like a 2.5 hour drive from the nearest hospital
>He just sits and screams at us instead of coming back to the campsite
>We have to go get our scoutmaster and a couple of the other dads
>Takes all three of them to carry him back, he keeps trying to punch and kick them
>One dad is an orthopedic surgeon
>Has us tie the kid down while he boils a fishing hook and some thread
>Scoutmaster and other dad hold the kid's head down while surgeon dad stitches his ear back into place and bandages it up
>Annoying kid taken home in the morning, never comes back to troop
I've since realized that since all the guys were going biking the dads had probably been hitting my scoutmaster's secret whiskey stash that he tended to bring on campouts.
How does /out/ feel about Primitive Technology?

I'm interested in trying to learn the techniques once the snow melts.
I think it's cool that he's keeping these techniques alive, but I'm not interested enough to watch it (or any YouTube channel) with any regularity.
Any vets here?
Turns out we get free entry to most parks.
I had no idea.
Going to get my free parks pass on monday.
Also canada is giving americans free park passes for 2017.
I am going to camp all damn summer.
>>976267
REI also gives substantial discounts
>>976267
You still need to make and pay for camping reservations you dumb fucking cunt. All parks at or over capacity will turn you around too. Please get educated.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4341126/Woman-survives-5-days-desert-near-Grand-Canyon.html
>Amber VanHecke, 24, set off in her Ford Edge on March 10 near the Canyon's South Rim in Arizona. After following her GPS down a road which didn't exist, she ran out of gas and became stranded on March 12.
>She spent five days surviving on emergency food and water while waiting for someone to rescue her.
>Eventually on March 17, she abandoned the vehicle and walked 11 miles to find a phone signal to call local authorities for help.
>VanHecke was eventually rescued by an air ambulance pilot as she walked back to her car where she had left notes for anyone that might come across it.
how exactly does one drive down a road that does not exist?
>whatisamap.jpg
and now she has the gall to ask other people to pay the medical fees resulting from her stupidity
>>975903
>11 miles
So, like that is like a morning run. I think I'd have just called a friend and been like, "dude, I found our next part spot, now bring me some water, a burger, and gas."
So she was smart enough to carry food but too stupid to fuel her vehicle?
Her tank must have read empty before she left the highway.

There's your problem
>The ecology of the earth is collapsing
>Species are going extinct every day
>All beautiful traditional cultures of the world are being erased by Corporate "Strip mall culture" that turns human into porn consuming designer jeans wearing mouths with a wallet attached
>Technlogy that was supposed to make life better has ruined our earth and alienated our citizens
>The water is unfit to drink
>The air is unfit to breathe
>Even going /out/ is not an option because civilization will eventually find you

I'm looking at getting my first backpacking pack. Currently looking at the Osprey Stratos 50 (pic related) or the Osprey Aether 60. I've never really gone backpacking before but I've heard 50-60L would be good for weekend or multi-day backpacking. I'm leaning more towards the Stratos because I would rather pack lighter. Any recommendation? Also, is AG just a meme or should I be looking into AG models?
Also general backpack questions and whatnot
>>958742
Wouldn't more straps and stuff be good? In case you suddenly want to bring a sleeping bag and a tent etc.
I like my Bergans Viking 90L+. It's so adjustable
>>958747
I mean for a zombie apocalypse backpack I would be getting pic related but I'm just talking about a hiking and camping pack where I'm not looking tacticool af.
90L would be way too much for what I'm thinking of.
>>958742
go buy the cheapest 50l you can find. starting with a 50 will help keep you from overpacking too much as a beginner, starting good habits early, and using a cheap pack will help you learn what features you want in a pack (what the pack has that you like, has that you don't like, and wish you had but doesn't) without feeling bad about having spent a lot off the bat and wanting to buy a better suited pack in a season or two. then, when you actually know what size and features you want and have in mind a couple packs that fit your desires, find a store that keeps them in stock, load them up with some weight, and wander around the store in each of them for half an hour or so and see how they really feel on you.
Ok

Yet nothing stays the same.
Boops
I have a dream of finding a location where you camp, or stay in a cabin of sorts, and have access to both hiking and swimming.
But without being at a campground full of annoying people. I know its a pipe dream
Where are some great places that have access to both? Here in Alberta the lakes are quite cold (for me)
pic unrelated i guess
>>982088
how about you go upstairs? your mom probably has a bathtub you could splash around in.
>>982088
What is the point of this thread?
You can hike and swim lots of places

Sup /out/
So I have this question and maybe some of you can give real input to it. My go to campsite has a small course of water like pic related and despite having some fish there, it's all really small specimen, is it possible or viable, to introduce?? some bigger fish types there?
No
1. If the stream only has small fish in it, that is likely all it will support
2. If you introduce non-native species and they survive they will negatively impact the local species and ecosystem.

Thanks lad.
First time posting. So I'm wanting to live the life of a hermit, a life in the wilderness far away from people/forestrangers. Just tired of the "rat race" and wanting to enjoy a carefree lifestyle where my only concerns are food and water. I'm 19, I'm from Texas and I've spent my whole life out doors. I want to try and find somewhere not too cold/hot and preferably near Texas and with a body of water. Any help or suggestions on a place to live or just tips on this lifestyle would be much appreciated!
