Feel free to post tobaccos (no weed allowed), pipes, collections, pics of favorite combos for going /out/, pics of what you're doing with your pipe and any questions you might have.

Want to get into smoking pipes without spending too much cash?
Get a Missouri Meerschaum Legend corncob pipe and a pouch of either Prince Albert, Carter Hall or Half and Half tobacco, available at most drugstores.
Accessories needed: pipe, tobacco, lighter or matches, pipe cleaners, and either a regular old nail or a pipe tool (combination tamper, scoop, and small pick).
All of these together should run you less than $20.

Having trouble keeping your pipe lit? Pack it looser and smoke it slower than you think you need to, lightly tamping as needed when the smoke starts thinning out.
If you're still having trouble, try packing using the Frank Method, detailed here:

I used to smoke a clay pipe. Started because I did French and Indian war reenacting. Pipe smoking was traded for cigarette as reenactment attendance lessened and bar attendance increased. The last thread got me revved up, though and I picked up an mm corncob and a cheap briar and some more captain black. I ordered an aromatic sampler from p&c but it backordered, despite the fact that their site said it was in stock. Now I'm reeeeeeing.

That's my story.

why do you smoke a pipe, /out/?

I started because I liked cigars, but got bored with tasting the same old flavors and wanted more and different things. I cast about for a little while before stumbling upon Dunhill Royal Yacht and Lane 1-Q. Then I just started expanding my horizons.

Buy yourself a couple steel shipping containers and bury them. Deck one out with all your furnishings and the other, fill with imitation crab meat. Easy peasy underground shelter.

I don't want to simply bury a shipping container. I want to learn how to support underground structures and so forth, I understand burying a container is the easiest route and what many people do.

So I'm planning on taking a road trip from Ohio to California this summer, But I'm worried about something. I'll be camping a good deal on my way out there, and I was wondering how safe this was. Of course I'll be armed, but there's only so much my shotgun can do if someone gets the drop on me. Anyone do anything similar or could share some tips? Also, recommend any cool stops. I already plan on going to the Buffalo Bill firearms museum on the way back, and some national parks as well, anything else I should keep an eye out for?

I have 9 of these native australian trees alongside my driveway that I need to cut down. Before I want to get quotes from businesses I want to be a bit more informed in the information I tell them. Is there anyone here that knows what type of tree this is? stands about 5 to 8 metres tall and is apparently a native australian tree. I've tried google image searching with a relevant picture but it won't work. Help is appreciated

>>
Dont cut it down you fucking yobbo, why would you want to do that? Just trim them back. Go down to bunnings and buy some gear and just knock them back so its out of the way.

Its a Callistemon, probably Callistemon viminalis. common name is Bottlebrush.

Thinking somewhere I could go for a few days on my own without experience, so would need to be warm at night. Preferably somewhere less crowded

I am going to be buying a suzuki DR 650 this summer and driving from Edmonton to Inuvik, NT by taking the dempster highway.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for this type of thing; ie things I should take with me, things I should do along the way etc...

Also, share anything related to long distance motorcycle trips itt.

Solid choice.

First, wear your gear, dress for the crash, etc. Find what's comfortable, what works for your style of riding. Might take a few tries to find a setup that you like.

Second, know your moto inside and out. Ability to diagnose and manage repairs is huge when you're way out in the backcountry. When you're doing maintenance in the garage, work out of the toolkit you bring when you ride. Much better to find out you need a 17mm socket or T20 torx bit to do some procedure in the garage than it is when you're 40 miles away from anything and something broke.

Not real familiar with that bike, but go through and fix all the stuff people have issues with.

Know your limits, when to call it a day and get some rest. A little fuckup in a car might wreck a bumper or body panel, that same fuckup on a bike will be significantly more painful.

If you're doing the trip solo, share your ride plans with someone you trust and check in with them regularly, update your timetables/routes as things change. If something happens and you miss a check-in, someone can raise alarm and has a general idea of where to start looking.

thats "vikinge spil" we call it. good for garden parties, not really " out " i just play basic dice betting games, one die doesnt take up any space, or i carry a deck of cards.

also a great "game" to play is to chalenge people. be like "go photograph a turkey tail" or simmilar you get the idea.

personally im honestly too numerically retarded to play cards so i stick with dice. ludo is also great sorry if Australia pic

You call kubb "vikinge spil"?
I've had luck with it on camping trip. It's compact when you pack it up right. Last time we played was in heavily wooded, hilly terrain, and we still found a nice little patch to clear to make a field.
I wouldn't want to backpack with it or anything.

Does it come with a storage container?
Is it easy to clean and maintain?
Is it electric or gas powered?
Do you have to buy your own oil?
Can you substitute vegetable oil (my limb trimmer does this).
What are the pitfalls?

I meant do you have to buy a *specific* kind of oil.

Of course everyone has to purchase their own oil.
>>
i use stihl

-it doesn't come with a storage container, when not in use i keep them in a wooden cabinet
-it is as easy as any other machine
-gas
-i use SAE30 motor oil for chain lubrication, stihl synthetic mixture oil for the gas
-if you have the money you can buy special vegetable oil but don't use a drying oil because it can dry and clog the oil pump. do you really fear you'll ruin the environment with some drops of oil?
-there are no pitfalls, chainsaws are awesome
-stihl ms361 is one of the best chainsaws around

>What are the pitfalls?

Literally death, crushing, and dismemberment. Statistically, less dangerous than driving at least.

Lots of pockets(can't have too many)
Sturdy, no tight fit just a bit baggy.
As for looks I like earth like colours, hazel brown and olive green I like.
Keep it comfy though, I have pants with lots of pockets but with zippers in awkward spots where they sting in your legs when kneel down.
>>
Manufactured here in the States, in my case (or wherever you're from) with excellent quality control and customer service.
Durable as shit. Heavy tech fabrics, quality metal hardware, designed from the bottom up to be serviced and repaired.
Classic, low-profile appearance. No flashy colors or branding.
Anything more would be activity-specific: for hiking, keep in mind the way pieces will layer and handle moisture, temperature, etc...
I wear a merino base, a beautiful heavy wool sweater and a technical shell. Most folks would probably prefer some kind of fleece/down mid. If you design shell layers, spend extra time perfecting the underarms for ventilation and mobility. Got any sketches you can share?
>>
Materials may be the most important factor.

Warm insulating layers for winter.

Moisture wicking breathable fabrics for summer.

No fabric that absorbs and holds water (other than wool).

Function over style, but if you want to sell clothes, they have to look good as well. Some spregs will buy new clothing that looks milsurp, but 99% of the population wants style with their clothing.
