also any other capabilities that you think are missing please add
Boiling water.. Titanium.
Actually cooking.. Aluminium.
I own a ti cup and ti pot which u use most of the time, but if I know I'll be frying food I'll take a high sided Al pan for ease of use

My dude!
What is the best 2 ppl tent for 50-100$?
What differences are there between dome tents and tunnel tents
>>1001407
One is a dome shape.
The other is a tunnel shape.
Glad to help.
You're not going to get anything decent in that price range unless you score a used one at a bargain.
Do any /out/ists have experience hiking barefoot? I want to try but my biggest concern is poison ivy.
>>990325
First thing to note about barefoot hiking: You don't just do it. You gotta train your feet for quite a while until you even consider a multi day hike. Depending where you live, just get out there and start walking around. You'll notice a lot of muscles moving that are normally completely unused while wearing normal shoes. Also, never run on your heels unless you want shin splints. I can speak from personal experience that your feet will thank you for abandoning normal shoes entirely. I used to be flat-footed and slower than a snail going uphill. Now I'm easily more nimble than anybody else I've gone in the woods with and the arch of my foot is just about normal!

I did this for a long time until I was enjoying mud and just felt the beer bottle sink into my foot. Was very intense and bloody throughout the return trip to the trail head.
I did some research at the time and found five fingers. They are kind of gimmick now, but original kso is pretty thin and gives a good foot feel. (kso was just released when I found them D:)
I would really just keep it down to maybe a mile or so and bring your shoes/boots with you. You might want a nice pair of tennis shoes if your feet swell and you just want to cruise back.
Also remember to keep it really light as its a really different act balancing loads barefoot.

if im camping in a nice spot ill rock the bare feet but trekking with no shoes is just asking for trouble

I only ask because I paid just over 50$ for my silver max combo, and at dicks toda I saw they had just the reel priced at 49.99.
Is the rod in the combo trash?
Has anyone used these hooks? I think they're pretty neat.

What happened to that bepis namefag? He used to shit up like every thread here.
hi /out/, after 4 years of use the soles of my hiking boots are completely flat
what are the pros and cons of getting my old ones resoled vs. just buying a new pair?
pic related, they're not particularly expensive boots
Bumping for interest, my boots are on their way out.
If you are going to resole then know that roofing silicon is a great way of attaching soles or doing repairs when the bottom comes of.

new ones smell better
Hey there folks, New Zealander here. I often go solo camping abducting in the temperate rainforest we have here, and I'm seriously thinking of doing away with my bulky tent and opting for one of these, on account of it being the cheapest goretex bivvy available with some over ample temperature ratings for out climate. (Nz is generally expensive for commonality gear)
Any experience with these? General opinions on it?
Abducting? Bloody autocorrect. Was meant to say "and hunting" haha
I'm a big guy 6'2" 250lbs and I live in the pacific northwest which is the same weather I think. My army surplus bivvy is great but I always take a tarp with me.
>>1012799
Cool! Youre the same sort of size as me by the sounds of it. Is it a tight fit in the bivvy?
This thread worked out well yesterday.

I'm getting tired of everything 4chan, the wagecuckery, the housing prices, the lack of available good jobs, the waste of time that is university, the over-entitled women, you know the drill.
Rather than be a wagecuck or a neet, I'm debating a third option and deciding whether or not to save up and buy a homestead in Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas or Michigan (I'm a US citizen, staying in the UK atm) with a few friends who are also considering it, and gradually learning to become as self sufficient as possible, ideally 100% within a year or two of moving. Over the next few years while saving we could train and learn almost all of the skills we'd need, and like I said the shift will be gradual rather than immediate.
Thoughts, ideas, suggestions, possibly from anyone who's done something similar?
>inb4 "it won't be easy anon"
Well aware, anon, but I'd rather work hard every day to feed myself and build a life I can call my own than just keep being someone's wagebitch at Papa John's.
kike mods moved this so it doesn't get any replies, what a waste

is this a meme or what
>>990509
Well to tellnyou the teuth your a moron.
If you just shit once it will wash away. But if uou want to make camp you might as well buy a 4 foot shovel from home depot.
>>990514
I'm not trekking a shovel out innabush faggot
>>990509
depends, like with all other item compromises must be made between size and capability.
a little shovel like that is able to dig a shithole or a fire pit slightly faster than a digging stick can. it can do a few tricks a digging stick can't like you can even cook an egg on it, shovel some dirt on the embers stuff like that.
an e-tool has more capability and can do the same stuff way way faster but do you really need it? that's the question. but an e-tool still sucks ass if you have to do extensive ground work. like digging a trench by yourself.
Urban exploration.

ITT: Post wildflowers you've seen and photographed while out. Anyone else interested in these things?
Pic related, California poppies and other wildflowers are in full bloom right now throughout the state.
Damn, wish I still had my wildflower project from high school biology. I took photos and pressed ever y wildflower native to California's San Joaquin valley.
We only need to do 10, but I had a lot of fun and a few extra weeks so I kept going.

I was driving through huntsville tx yesterday and almost stopped to take a picture at the sam houston monument. There was a perfect hill covered in buttercups leading to the statue.
Heres a pic of a half burnt clearing instead.
>>981556
Nice, how many total wildflowers did you catalog?
And what's the best place to check out wildflowers in the valley? Whereabouts did you find them?
These are from Antelope Valley, btw.
Make Hiking Rugged Again
>Hiking trails these days are overcrowded, sissified dirt highways of giant-backpack-wearing, ill-prepared softies. Did the great explorers of pioneer days need zinc on their nose, gobs of pesticides on their bodies, and hand sanitizer for their soft, unworked palms?
>No, friends, they surely did not. It’s time to get back to the basics of the outdoors experience of yesteryear.
https://gearjunkie.com/make-hiking-rugged
>>1013092
Or you can just fucking hike and not worry what other people are doing. Chances are that if you're going to a serious wilderness spot, tens of miles away from any population centers this isn't even a problem. It's just dinky little state parks with 2.3 mile long paths right outside of some 100k city where it is
>>1013092
Hiking trails?
What are those?
I just grab my gun and ALICE pack and trek some BLM land.
