How would /out/ design a garden or farm if you wanted to live the fully /out/?
I would grow mainly staple crops in my region (North Carolina ) -sweet potatoes and some grains. Put in a large 100 ft by 100 ft garden with a rotational raised bed system. Raise chickens for eggs(Plymouth rock), rabbits for meat, and some nigerian goats for dairy. Stock a little pond with bass, bluegill, and catfish with crawdads. Set up a big compost section to keep waste down and good soil additives up. Of course, have my hotty and our kids and dogs with us. That's just about heaven to me.

Pic somewhat related.

Right on brother. Where do you guys live?

Also, we are thinking of growing a few tobacco plants to allow me to indulge in my pipe smoking vice.

Sounds nice, try being as self sufficient as you possibly can while being comfortable.

I am a Dutch guy currently living the studen/slave life. My and my girlfriend decided that the whole "keeping up with the jonesses" thing is completely true. Mostly I, long for a simple farm-style life. Planning on moving to Czech Republic a.s.a.p., where land is cheaper and the people are less "diverse".

How do you deal with aggressive dogs when /out/?

In rural areas there are heaps of dogs in villages, many are stray; all are territorial.
They are really unpredictable, and many are unused to being handled.

If not stopped, they will follow you around in a pack where their behavior is more erratic and they are more aggressive.

Often this requires taking a different route or shooing them away
however they become genuinely dangerous at night, or when you are alone outside of town
Rabies is also a genuine issue here as well, so an attack doesn't need to be serious to be fatal.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that the locals just throw stones at the dogs when they misbehave or use a slingshot, but arn't pleased when YOU throw stones at their dogs.
Pepper spray is also illegal here, and combined with the attitudes of villagers could see me having to pay off some cop

Get rabies shots in case your hospital runs out of rabies immunoglobulin or doesn't bother to stock it because it's so rare in western civ, then you'll just need a booster. Small dogs are vicious and have horrible temperaments, always be ready to punt them. Carry a chisel or thick fixed blade knife to bludgeon and then pry apart the jaw of any pitbull that tries to kill you. Be calm or depressed around most dogs, most will behave friendly towards you or at least quickly calm down. Maybe carry treats in case that doesn't work.

Hey /out/ do you bring along a first aid kit?
I'm thinking of putting one together, want it to be usable for a varying activities. (camp, hike, bike, fish, kayak)
But what do you put in your first aid kit?
so far I have bandaids and ibuprofin what else should i be adding?

if you're worried about excessive shitting you can add something like imodium to the list, but that's really all you'll need.

>inb4 "medic" roleplayers show up and demonstrate how little they actually know

Superglue is good. In case you get a cut you can just glue it back together.
Some kind of disinfectant would be good for that list as well.
If you are going far /out/ then thread and needle and rope somewhere in your pack, not necessarily the medkit.
>>
I have the best way to assemble a first aid kit.

School buses are never locked, just go into the bus yard at night. The kits are behind the driver seat usually.

Grab like 20 of them and you'll be able to mix and match everything to your exact needs, and you'll be able to make kits for all your buddies too.

Also all the containers the first aid stuff comes in are super handy for storing other things like ammo.

Hey guys, I don't usually come to this board but I can imagine you get threads like this all the time, so sorry in advance. I'm looking to go camping, but for like a really long time. I already know the basics and what I will need. I'm more concerned of the various things that could come about from this. If i needed some source of income, how would I get this without ID or etc and possibly filed as a missing person? What will typically follow a missing persons report? What happens if you are found? What would be best as a form of protection if you do not have access to a firearm (legally or otherwise)?

Pic unrelated, it's just some weird tent.

Define "a really long time" people hike and camp for a very long time and have no issues. In terms of the other stuff:
>needed a source of income
I have never changed my address, just always given people my parents one, so for all intents and purposes I could be homeless. Squaters I have known have also done this and held down jobs.
>ID
Why does being /out/ permanently mean you have no ID? Don't you already hold some form?
>Missing person
Can't you just let a trusted person know what you are doing so they can stop missing persons being filed?
Anecdote time. I knew a guy who lived in a proper old horse drawn gypsy caravan, he was a forester so would just roam from one job to another living in his caravan. Worked for cash, didn't cause any issues and stayed out of trouble. He's still doing it to this day.

You sound like you have zero life experience and are embracing an "I'm running away" defense mechanism. Grow up.

You aren't going to do this; the sooner you drop this fantasy and try to improve your lot in life, the better.

Does /out/ approve of ATVing? I was out in the bush with my dad and we found these 2 huge boulders sitting in the middle of a flat spot in the bush with a couple massive boulders I thought was pretty cool.

These 2 trees here are blocking my view of water, but anything at this level is owned by the army core of engineers. These trees are in the lot next to me which is an empty lot that was just bought but no construction yet. I want these trees gone but its not my properly or the neighbors property it's owned by the engineer core. How can I remove this without getting caught? Wouldn't an axe be obvious and loud? It's right above water so I have to be in water to successfully cut it. I just don't want to make it obvious and I want no proof of my meddling to come back to me. Thoughts?

Hey /out/ I live in Northern VA and I am looking to train myself in wilderness/primitive survival skills. Would there be anyone on this board that knows a good spot to start? Speaking in regard to a location that's rather uninhabited to practice or even books to pick up/videos to watch? I have pretty novice tier knowledge on this subject.

Welp, as someone who lives in Southeast VA, your pretty much boned in terms of places to go unless you go out of state, to the George Washington National Forest, or take an interest in kayaking.

If you do go somewhere to practice bushmeme/wilderness survival in the NF, try to do it a decent distance away from roads as most of the easy to access trails are pretty heavily traveled and people that do that lead to more restrictions for primitive campers.

Also, if anyone knows of some decent locations to camp/hike at in VA feel free to chime in.

I had a feeling this is the response I would get, bummer. I've been down towards GWNF before so I actually might consider a trip there.

Know of any good bushcraft youtubers that teach some good primitive skills?

How can I become the goat man? I want to live in a small cabin tending to my flock of goats. I want to live simply eating oats and beans and drinking raw goats milk. For a while now, BBC has been phasing out white people from its line up. I'm not even joking. He moved to "ITV" and works for them now (as of 2010). I think he's doing "Wild ____ with Ray Mears" shows each year now. Like "Wild France with Ray Mears" which came out last year.

Yep.
Job title is a Fire Lookout. In the US you would work for the US Forest Service. It's probably not like the game. I'm really not sure how much "exploring" you would get to do.

Everything can break down and can be used for three distinct kit builds. The center piece holds two gsi cups that sandwich a 38oz ss nalgene. The lid has an elastic band I sewed in that retains my fire tin. The outside pouch holds basic food supplies. This is the first stage of the kit for small hikes that I still want to bring a decent water supply or some snacks.

Second stage adds on the side pouches. This is for a full day journey where some emergency preparedness is preferred. Right kit holds first aid and left holds smokes and dugout plus water filter, space blanket, and notebook with writing utensil.

Third stage is for overnight adventures. Poncho and woobie make for a sleeping bag, inside the pack is a base layer rolled up in socks, and a hammock.
>>
>>1026154
It looks alright, but I suggest you add rope, some duct tape and a bigger fire starting kit to it.

How well are you able to carry this, seeing that it is held together by clips, or am I missing something?
