Tea or Coffee?
>>1005674
Both
Tea in the morning and coffee in the afternoon.
I'm a bit biased towards coffee since I've been a daily drinker since I was 8 or so, but I think it's a much better drink than tea. Drink it in the morning afternoon or evening. It's great.
Coffee for sure
I own around 5 or 6 Knives and my friends are trying to tell me I have a collection.
I'm big
How many knives are in your collections?
day 7 of summer
i would say 4-5 knives is a collection
hAHA RAt!
is that a magic mushroom /out/ ?
you won't know until you try it
>>1032644
You're better off going to shroomery for this.
But no, it's not a psilocybe semilanceata, which I guess is what you were looking for. Besides, it's a late autumn mushroom, so unless you live in the southern hemisphere, there's no point looking.
>>1032683
i'm actually looking for any kind of psilo
i'm living in the northern emisphere but the weather is honestly similar to autumn atm
do shrooms grow only in a particlar season or is it related to the climate ?
Why isn't anyone swimming across the Atlantic ocean?
>>1031752
I've done it 3 times but I'm not an arrogant cunt so I didn't tell too many people about it.
>>1031757
Wouldn't your EDC cat food attract sharks?
>>1031811
Land EDC is different from innawater EDC. Foolish.
No matter which bug sprays I try, there still seem to be a shit ton of mosquitos and flies around me when I'm innawoods. What's the best way to keep them away? Bonus points if you know any easy diy ways so that I don't have to buy a specialized bug spray offline.
>>1031210
I'm wondering the same thing for ticks. Those things are bad out here right now.
>>1031210
Scented dryer sheets in the pockets have always worked well for me. You can rub them on your clothes for extra protection.

This seems like the right place to ask this: I'm a 21 year old Britfag (and CompSci grad.) who loves the outdoors when in it, but is half retarded when it comes to it.
To fix this, I'm keen to join the Scouts and aim for whatever the highest award that I'm still eligible for is, then see what I pick up on the way.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the difference/benefits/downsides/interchangeability of joining either Scout Association or the Baden-Powell Scouts' Association (or, more generally, traditional scouting or 'non-traditional')?
The most obvious difference would be that the former would only give me until my 24th birthday, whilst the latter would give me no age limit. That's by no means the matter settled though.

Sorry I can't be of much assistance, ameriskinny here. Was in BSA, had a blast, learned lots of useful shit. From what I gather, it's all highly dependent on the quality of the troop you join. Some (like Troop 97, Reelsville, Indiana) are good and you actually get to go innawoods and learn about nature; others are more daycare-y and you don't learn shit. Make sure you get a good troop.
I can't speak to Bongistan scouting but in the US it really depends on the troop. The Baden-Powell Scouts seem to be more oriented towards traditional frontiersman type stuff than the other one.

Thank you for your contribution you useless faggot nigger. Go jerk off in the gear queer thread or something.
>fall for the clif bar meme
>take a couple boxes on a camping trip for easy snacks
>have the most violent shits of my life hours after eating a couple that are only rivaled by MRE shits
>spend upwards of a half hour just shitting into a hole in the woods
i never had shits this bad until i ate a few of these, does this happen to anyone else?
Eat more fibre

>i never had shits this bad until i ate a few of these, does this happen to anyone else?
No. At my previous IT job our kitchen was stocked with these. I ate one and a can of coke every morning for breakfast for like a year and half and I never had these problems.
>>1029985
>have the most violent shits of my life hours after eating a couple that are only rivaled by MRE shits
Simple: You don't eat enough fibre in your ordinary diet. Clif Bars have lots.
>maintaining sodium backpacking
easy
>maintaining calcium backpacking
easy
>maintaining potassium backpacking
FUUUUUUCK!
any suggestions beyond carrying over 9000 lbs of dried apricots?
>>1027102
It's rarely an issue unless you have a medical condition.
Eat normal food, you'll have plenty of potassium.
>>1027102
Generally it takes 3 weeks to develop a vitamin deficiency. To a point where it effects ur health.. I don't even think any of the fucks on this board are out longer then a week.
Inb4
>hurdur I was just out solo for 4 months
Stfu lying faggot.
>>1027102
Just eat foil packs of tuna or chicken. Tuna contains a ton of potassium and chicken contains a goodly amount.
Alternatively, freeze dried peas or soybeans both contain a bunch and weigh basically nothing.
Got pic related on sale today from Dick's for 80 bucks. Did I do good?

Gortex is a better option, but I love mine.

Came here to post this. Just did 50 miles in brand new unbroken salomons and my feet feel great.

Talk about fishin
Anyone got tips for fishing in Nevada? And I mean like shore fishing at Lake Mead. 4 trips and got nothing.
I just got finished taking one of my best friends out fishing for the first time in his adult life at a local lake.
Story time
>best friend wants to come up and visit but doesn't know what to do
>Know he's been stressed lately and casually suggest we can go fishing
>surprisingly he agrees
>arrives and eager to go
>but admits he's not a fisherman at all, hasn't been in years and doesn't own a rod.
>knew this already,
>was already prepared to do easy mode fishing.
>rigged up two of my poles with bobbers, hooks and worms and headed out to the impound lake in my development.
>gave him a spinning rod and showed him how to cast it,
>grabbed my old crappie rod with an ancient baitcaster on it.
>Spend 2-1/2 hours fishing yesterday
>and nearly 2 hours today
>just casting out, letting worms soak, bullshitting about life and pulling in dinks.
>He outcatches me 2 to 1
>not jealous at all.
>He's going through a rough patch in his life and needed to win a little.
>He won this weekend.
Now he's talking about getting a little fishing pole, buying a license and going fishing on his own.
Mission accomplished.
Dink bluegill are a national treasure.
Does anyone grow bamboo for screening purposes?
How safe is this configuration?
>>1030623
not very safe. bamboo dgaf about your barriers. it will come up from underneath as the rootball/rhizome piles up against the wall
>>1030623
>>1030627
I would have a barrier just like this.
>>1030630
I don't think you appreciate how smug bamboo can be anon
Why do Metal musicians love going outdoors so much?
>>1030297
Probably 'cause paganism. On a pseudo related note, have you ever noticed that European metalheads are super nice, but north American metalheads are all drug addled sociopaths? The metalhead is one of nature's greatest mysteries.
>>1030299
European metalheads murder their friends
Very nice people eh?
>>1030330
You talking about Varg and Euronymous? I would hardly call them friends. I'm thinking more about modern artists. Amon Amarth, Turisas, Ensiferum, Korpiklaani, etc. I dunno, maybe I'm stupid, but they all seem fairly nice to me.

I have Trek Marlin 6. It's okay

How much it was?
Bought this from walmart for $3 to see if I liked the water bags. Took a short hike with it in my pack around my neighborhood and the damn thing leaked! I dont know if I should try to seal it and keep it inside my pack, or strap it to the outside and risk puncturing it.
Thoughts?
>>1030050
Buy a better brand like platypus or vapor bottle.
>>1030050
>the damn thing leaked
yeah well, you did shop at Walmart. Don't cheap out next time, get Evernew or Platypus
>>1030050
or return it and buy a proper one.
Who here picks it?
What general region are you in?
Any good stories of running into other pickers?
Op here: E Tennessee.
Have 5-10 acre hardwood plots scattered around two counties. 2-3 acres wild-simulated, based around original growth, each plot. Cycled harvests at the 8-9 year mark.
No real stories. Thieves are either really stupid or really good. Loss to thieves is built into the model, as is security during the season.
Neighbors are mostly cool. One idiot didn't understand why funny Chinese men showed up once a year to my house, spent a year trying to prove I was growing Opium.
Her husband had to have her committed, then divorced her. The opium delusion was one of many.
>>1029827
xxx here
go back to rebbig you fucking faggot
Most effective security measure is spike strips on main and secondary roads. Local tow company loves me.
Second (in-season) is relatives with rifles and dogs.
Third, post-theft, is soil analysis. Lots of inert stuff you can put in as unique location identifiers. The dawning horror on multiple-offenders' faces as it's explained to them that substance "a" is not naturally present where they claimed to pick their roots is one of life's small joys.
