I drive 75 miles roundtrip per day. Trying to decide on something with bulletproof reliability.

Camry or Accord? Or perhaps Civic or Corolla?
>>
>>
>>14333424
Accord will be the most comfy. Have fun with I4s tho.
>>
>>14333534
Camry would actually be the most comfy.
>>
>>14333424
Test drive each one then see. Im not trying to avoid the question or be rude, im serious, its the best way to pick a car if you have a set idea of what is best. Personally id go with Camry or civic
>>
>>14333551

Yeah, figured I'd ask in case there were any glaring problems right off the bat with any of those models. I used to have a Civic and it was a great car, so I think I'm leaning more towards Honda.
>>
>>14333424
Neither. used Volvo s80

You don't want the accord because it comes with a shitty cvt unless you get the sport with a manual.
>>
>>14333424
Accord>Civic>Camry
>>
>>14333424
They're both equally boring, reliable, and fuel economic. One isn't better than the other.
>>
>>14333663
OP do NOT let anyone talk you into a used car(aka cuckmobile).

I would recommend going with either a corolla or civic, but if you want a bigger car I'd go with Camry.
>>
>>14333738

There's nothing wrong with a used car.

>>14333663

>20 city 29 highway

That's what I'm getting now, looking for an improvement at the least.
>>
>>14333806
Do you jack off to kekporn?
>>
i drive 79 miles round trip.

You car will be doing about 25,000 miles a year.. more if you decide to drive places on the weekend / vacations.

Think about that for a few minutes. Think about the depreciation, think about how soon your warranty will be up. If you are taking a loan, think about making a car payment on a car with over 100,000 miles and no warranty.

15 year old saab 9-3. Comfy, fun, 35mpg. I would seriously consider something used, not a saab, but something where you will not be screwed with depreciation. Depending on what state you live in, you might want to look at a vw diesel. My state doesn't do emissions inpections, the next state over does.. some folks are trying to get rid of their VWs because or the emissions cheating.
>>
>>14333806
Then get a used pre-2004 mk4 vw golf/jetta/beetle with an alh tdi and a manual transmission. And laugh all the way to the bank with your 50 mpg

Or try to convince your work to install a 240 volt car charger and buy a Chevy volt.
>>
>>14333963

I don't have to convince them, we have 240 chargers that I can use unlimited for $39/mo
>>
>>14333971
That's highway robbery but cheaper than buying gas. You can get a used low mileage volt for 16-20k
>>
>>14333492
this
>>
>>14333424
Get a used Avalon. 30 mpg highway & way more comfortable than a camry or accord. I just got a 2012 with 13,000 miles loaded for $21,000.

mazda6 is pretty damn reliable, right up there with the toyota/honda, or do you only want one of those?
>>
>>14333424
Prius or Volt, 2bh.

I'd go Volt, if you can charge at work, you'll only burn maintenance gas, if you can't, you'll only burn gas 22 miles a day.
>>
>>14334363
And it looks good.
>>
>>14334371

It's 33k otd. Nope.

>>14334348

I haven't looked at any of Mazda's offerings

>>14334321

Does your dashboard rattle/squeak yet?
>>
>>14334391
>It's 33k otd. Nope.
That's MSRP, you can pay less, and it's also before government incentives. It really ends up costing like $26k.

And if Edmunds lease calculator is worth a shit, an excellent credit buyer with $4,000 worth of trade could lease a Volt for 2 years and 30,000 miles a year for well under $250/month.

Tax credits make for aggressive lease deals on PHEVs and EVs.
>>
>>14334481

It's still either 33k up front or a loan for 33k up front. If you lease you do not get the tax credit.
>>
>>14334494
>If you lease you do not get the tax credit.
That's right, the leasing company gets it. There's a reason you can get a low mileage lease for a Leaf for under $100 a month.

Just don't talk about what you don't know.
>>
>>14334607

I am not leasing. Thanks for your input.
>>
>>14334371
It looks a lot worse than the old one. They went overboard with the silver stuff and the back looks like a last gen civic and the gear knob has this stupid piece of plastic on top and the designer (a woman) called it "jewelry for the car"

Chevy X A$AP mob
>>
>>14334626
If you are considering hybrids or EVs, you'd be retarded to buy the car.

In the Volt, assuming he can't charge at work, he drives 30,000 miles a year, and gas averages $1.50 over the next six years, he'd save over $10k leasing a succession of Volts over a 6 year loan on an Accord, and a 6 year old Accord with 180,000 miles is worth ~$2400.
>>
>>14334761
He said he can charge at work.

Gen 1 is a better car. They over engineered it and lost money on every car. The new one was designed with profitability in mind aka corners were cut because GM
>>
>>14333424
You look into Ford Fusion Hybrids OP? I'm not sure how reliable they are as a whole, but my dad has owned one for 6 years now and hasnt had any issues with it.
>>
>>14334804
>Gen 1 is a better car. They over engineered it and lost money on every car. The new one was designed with profitability in mind aka corners were cut because GM
Yes, because the Gen 1 didn't have any glaring issues and the Gen 2 has disappointed so many reviewers.

Oh, wait.
>>14334642
That's subjective, I don't care for how the Gen 1 looks, and while I can see how the Chevy chrome nogrill is evocative of the chrome mustache on the Civic, the new Volt just looks so much tidier and better integrated to my eyes than the old Volt, or indeed, that Civic.
>>
>>14333424
Fusion > Accord > Camry

Ask me why.
>>
>>14334849

I had a bad experience with a gen 1 Focus (27 recalls before I traded it in), so I'm hesitant to try Ford again.
>>
>>14334976
If you are thinking hybrid, the Fusion is not especially cheap to own for the class. The Prius is thousands cheaper, and the Volt cheaper still.
>>
>>14334992

Good to know. What makes the Volt so cheap to own?

>>14334922

Okay, why?
>>
>>14334348
This
>>
>>14335005
I've driven a Fusion and a Camry and ridden in many of each of these cars. The Accord and Fusion trump the Camry in the sense of solidity. Without a doubt the worst feeling I can have when getting into a car every day is feeling like I'm sitting in a cheaply made shitbox. Drive the three and you'll understand. There is a certain tinniness that accompanies the Camry that the Accord and to an even lesser extent the Fusion have avoided. The Fusion still bests the Accord of the "car" part of being a car while the Accord impresses with its advanced autonomous driving features.
>>
>>14335051

Which would you say feels the most upscale, and which is the quietest? I'm assuming the Accord in this respect.

Additionally, what has the best seating posture and most legroom? I'm fairly tall.
>>
>>14333424
Camry no doubt, my dad owns one and I drove it while my car was in the shop 10/10 comfy driving(and I'm a pretty big guy)
>>
>>14335071
A used Volvo fits that perfectly
>>
>>14335097

Good to know. My only recent Toyota comparison is my girlfriend's Corolla. While pretty comfy, it felt cheap and was pretty rattle-y.
>>
out of those two, the Accord

out of those other two, the Civic.

out of other choices available, the Fusion and Altima are neat. better than Camry, but not so sure about the Accord.

how much does a Charger go for nowadays? is it mid size money like the others? maybe that
>>
Vooooooolllllllltttttttttt
>>
If you like a firm ride, Accord.
If you like a softer ride, Camry.

I'm more partial to the Accord for reasons, but those are really the only appreciable differences between the newest versions of both.
>>
>>14334348
This tbqh family. Slow ass car but great comfy daily.
>>
>>14335150

Accord or Civic these days?

>>14335167

Which has more comfy seats?
>>
>>14335005
>Good to know. What makes the Volt so cheap to own?
Principally it's efficiency, but also it's cheaper to insure and less likely to need repair.
>>
>>14335071
Fusion is quietest by the numbers (tires will make the biggest difference here) and it feels more "upscale."

This video should explain the differences well. They are pretty straightforward with their reviews.

>>
>>14335226
>>14335230

Correct, Nissans a shit. I will not repeat that mistake.

>>14335237

I don't really care currently. I've had them in the past and am not particularly bothered by them for a commuter car.
>>
>>14335230
that's why they are now outselling Accords and place higher in comparisons then the two? lma0

>>14335247
a previous mistake? let me guess, a Stanza from 20 years ago kek

get with the times. Hyundai and Kia are good. Nissan and Mazda hang with the best.
>>
>>14335259
Because their bargaining chip is that they're cheapest. Poorfags gonna poor
>>
>>14335259

Nope, 350z.
>>
>All these bread and butter cars.

Buy something interesting, I hate seeing nothing on the roads.

This is why they are still pumping out fwd boring trash, people keep buying them.

Cars are dead.
>>
>>14335327
This. Fuckin normies
>>
>>14335327
theres a reason there are so many on the road, idiot. theyre cheap and easy to mantain
>>
>>14335335
Life's too short to drive boring cars. They have stupid priorities like popping out kids and all the shit that goes along with that. So they don't have time for a cool hobby.
>>
>>14333424
I'd go for an entry level Lexus, you can get one for about the same price as a fully loaded Camry and it has even better features, and is atleast marginally fun to drive compared to the king of the bland.
>>
>>14335346

I agree with you. With that said, I need something cheap and reliable to drive for several years so that I can afford a supercar or something equally absurd.

>>14335356

I have an inquiry in about a CT200h currently, not that it isn't a Prius.
>>
I agree with >>14333957, buying a new car, especially an Accord/Camry, to use as a beater is silly
>>
>>14335383

I'd be buying used

if i were putting 75 miles per day on a car i'd never buy anything new or nice. you're basically just driving it into the ground so it might as well be a shit box.

>>14335791
see >>14335389

I'll probably drive it 5 years.

If you want a A > B commuter, get a Lancer since they have the best audio

This is the shittiest suggestion in this thread thus far.

OP wants a reliable commuter, not a joke from a company a few years from bankruptcy.

I would post Consumer Reports ratings, but recently they revamped their website. Now I can't find any trim-specific reliability ratings.

Kia Optimas are a good option they are nice looking and have good reliability also the souls are decent too

What voodoo is this shit
>>
>>14333424
can't go wrong with the accord.
>>
>>14337534
kinda confused. is the number inside the bar the avg # of cars per 100 cars per brand, and the bar for specific models?

eg civic is 0 cars per 100 cars per year, but the pilot is 47 cars?
>>
>Not getting a Mazda 3 with based skyactive
>>
>>14337219

I bought the consumer report guide in (pog) book form last night, so I'm going to take a look at it in a bit. They seem fairly reliable to me.
>>
>>14337588
>>14337834
I didn't think simple graphs were confusing. Obviously the full bar is the entire sample set, duplicates removed. That means the 1 Lexus sampled made what would be 7 repair trips/year per 100 cars, or in this case it made 7 repair trips per 100 years (it went in once for a repair trip in 14 years).

It really would be more helpful if they graphed it in terms of repair trip intervals rather than frequency normalized for 100 cars. Then you'd see Lexus at 14 years between repair trips vs BMW's average of 3 years, which makes it obvious why people think Lexus is so much more reliable than BMW, since 11 years is a long time.

Also some poor saps in BMWs made a repair trip every 16 months, and some in a Lincoln made repair trips more than every year.

You can think of it as chance, too. Tesla has a good 72-88% chance of putting you in the shop for any given year.

These are supposed to be repair jobs, not maintenance, but it's possible customers think replacing plugs is "repair" and not maintenance, so there is some leeway with interpretation here.
>>
>>14339553

You're trying to explain something obvious and logical to the members of /o/. Don't waste your time.
