>Screen in key fob
Literally what purpose would this serve
>>
>>14315924
It costs more money to replace.
>ok you need a replacement key fob because you're a dumbass and fucked it up?
>gosh, we're all out of the regular featureless ones
>you can wait a few days while we have one delivered, or you can get this more advanced one with way more features
>>
>>14315924
So that a replacement keyfob is now a thousand dollars
>>
I hate everything electronic. If I could, I would crank start my car.
>>
>>14316101
buy an old motorcycle then. push start it every time.
>>
>>14316072
>>14316058
I mean aside from the obvious dealer fucking
>>
Key fob's almost bigger than an iphone 6 .
>>
>>14315924
Status of it being locked, status of engine running, etc.
>>
Will there be a V12 or an M7?
>>
>>14316120
Probably not. Muh emissions.
>>
>go onto bmw site and build a 7 series
>90k base msrp on the 750i
>115k after all the nice add ons
>250 for the screen fob

holy fuck
>>
>>14316149
Don't be a poorfag, anon.
>>
>>14316120
I don't think they've ever made an M7. I don't know why they would bother to start now, unless they for some reason decided to start competing with the S-Class AMG. I think they make a V12 for Rolls Royce so maybe they could just start sticking that into every 760.

>I think they make a V12 for Rolls Royce
Yes. That's not exactly the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of a BMW V12 though.
>>
>>14316290
Eh, who cares what they put in the 760. Nobody except octogenerians buy them anyways. It'd probably be a marketing plus if anything.
>>
>>14316272
They have an X6M500d or whatever the fuck it's called, so why not an M7
>>
BMW Alpina B7, 540hp.
>>
All I can say is they feel nice to drive excepting the fact that they're huge
>>
>>14315924
I believe it replaces the need for tacky BMW roundel key chains.

Basically so when you set your keys down on the counter to be a pretentious faggot everyone asks "what kind of key is that" "what car is that for" etc....
>>
>>14316342
They have two absolutely opposite audiences
>>
>>14316113
Why is that necessary? Not once in my life have I sat there thinking "Oh shit, did I accidentally leave my car running?"

I genuinely don't see the appeal in half the electronic shit they throw into cars nowadays. Not even expensive luxury cars, but the higher end models of regular economy cars.

>Automatic headlights and windscreen wipers
Only a certified retard could think these are a hassle to control manually, or legitimately forget to turn them on
>Button-controlled parking brake
Fucking frustrating. And not that much less effort than adjusting a lever up or down
>Touchscreen media controls
Because looking away from the road for a few seconds every time you want to fuck with your stereo is totally okay.
>Automatic engine stop/start
Feels annoying. And there's no way that can be good for the starter motor, or worth the few cents you'll save on fuel.
>Button stop start
Not a problem in and of itself, but if it relies on a wireless key fob, that's another little gizmo that will eventually run out of battery and just be an annoyance. And if it's one of those where you have to insert the fob into the car, then it actually offers no benefit over inserting a key and turning it

I could go on forever.
>>
>>14316465
>"Oh shit, did I accidentally leave my car running?"
current remote start functions on keyfobs can start a car from several hundred feet away and behind several walls and the only confirmation that your button presses actually did anything are communicated by a red or green LED blink code
I can see where someone wanted to modernize that on a top of the line luxury car
>Automatic headlights and windscreen wipers
automatic = luxury
and luxury = more money and more "want factor"
>Button-controlled parking brake
engineers design one button with a standard size/wire configuration, saves a manufacturer fuckloads over having to clear out a large gap in interior design to jam an ugly lever
>Touchscreen media controls
same as above, instead of having to worry about 50 buttons they can package it all into software updates and interior designers only have to worry about a certain size screen
>Automatic engine stop/start
work around for government emissions/efficiency laws
>Button stop start
I think this only caught on because of the cool factor, but it probably has some savings in the long run over a standard key system for the manufacturer

now, I absolutely don't enjoy any of these features and all of them are quite unnecessary
>>
>>14316465
>And there's no way that can be good for the starter motor,
They actually have heavy duty starters that are much stronger than what's in your and my car.

Also,

>be valet
>guy comes in with a lexus that he knew the fob was dying on
>fob isn't working the next morning
>take out physical key
>unlock car
>there's no place to put the physical key to start in case of fob failure
>start looking on phone, can't find shit
>resort to owners manual
>the car cannot be started with the physical key inside the fob
>owner is mad like it's our fault that he knew his fob battery was dying and didn't replace it

Fuck keyless go.

what's the cheapest car that has a carbon fiber frame?
>>
>>14316586
Alfa 4C, probably.
>>
>>14315909
Why not just use an app on your phone instead of putting a screen on your key fob?
>>
>>14316586
BMW i3, if carbon-fiber plastics count
>>
>>14316582

> shove the keyfob into the slot on the dash
> contacts on the side allow the car to power it
> push to start

Works on a Prius.
>>
>>14316628
There is no slot on a Lexus like there is a Prius.

the V12 will probably come out this year with the other LWB versions of the 7-series
>>
The only thing that seems remotely worthwhile is the hardware radio shit since touchscreens are useless. Since touchscreens won't be going away this seems to be the best option. Would still prefer old button operated radios though
