I'm thinking of buying a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X MR Touring as a "Mature Daily Driver".
Main reasons are I'm getting older and while I've driven manuals most of my life (I've owned 16 cars), I want something comfortable, but still can have fun with.
The MR Touring model offers the same AWD and turbocharged sedan package that we all know and love, but it adds TC-SST transmission (no clutch pedal), heated leather seats, sunroof, great audio, some sound deadening, and finally gets rid of that huge wing.
My question for my br/o/thers is what are some things I should look out for in Evo X's? What are the overall costs of ownership? Anyone here own one? Would a good alternative be a Ralliart? Are there any good alternatives in general?
it looks like some middle aged leftist's tdi hatchback
i mean if you wanna pay a extra $5k for the four rings on the grill be our guest
How about an E90 M3?
They're not any more expensive to own than an Evo, they can be had with a stick or a dual clutch box, and they combine sports car dynamics and a glorious engine with a "grown up" four-door sedan body.
After owning an Audi, I told myself I'd never own another German car. I had to repair that damn thing too many times. Same goes for Korean cars. So I'm focusing only on Japanese cars.
Maybe if you compare a an Audi, which are notorious for being awful to work on, to a fucking Civic
Actually go get a Civic Si, reliable and fun
Sure it won't look "mature" but neither would an Evo X
>someone says hurr durr fwd
>you start crying
I like how FF shitposter shill in every thread for people to buy them and repeate the same mistakes they did so they feel better about their buyer's remorse.
Let's post some more AWD and FR mature dailies please.
Ignore the shitposter OP. The X MR is a perfect daily and doesn't scream boy racer like the older evos did. Keep it stock and stick to Mitsubishi fluids and parts when doing maintenance/repairs and the car will outlast you. Also kiddos that are comparing evos reliability and running costs to that of German luxury salons are only kidding themselves, evo is far superior and better engineered.
Another obviously option that I'm going to get shit posted for is a 2015 wrx.
It's available as a cvt, which I've driven and it's actually great, and it comes with a new twin scroll fa series motor.
The car makes boost fast, is very comfortable inside, looks way more mature than before, and the cvt is actually great if you want an auto. There are different shift modes giving you the option to shift from 5-8 different "gears". There's no annoying winding out like other cvts as it holds to mimic gears. While it's in a little bit of a different catagory as the evo mr there are a good amount of advantages.
It's still being made. It's brand new, not from 08. And its much cheaper to buy and own. It's at least worth checking out.
>cheaper to buy/own
No lol at this point Subaru's are over hyped and over priced pieces of shits that only ppl who buy into symmetrical awd and flat engine meme buy.
If you're going to buy a turbo 4 sedan atleast get the better engineered/faster one(evo).
Sorry buddy but a brand new wrx is much cheaper than a brand new evo. Along with owning one. Especially for someone older. If it was an sti Maybe you'd have an argument but just because you hate subarus doesn't make them bad.
any loan term over 3 years is stupid and the only reason your payment isnt over 600 per month is because of the fact your financing for half a decade also insurance is not 174 a month its definitly more
Subarus are fucking shit though. Verdict is still out on the new FA20 models, but fuck anything with a EJ-Series. They're ALL shit.
Don't be silly, a Evo is not cheap to own/maintain. Those VWs are based off Golfs. S4 you would have a decent argument with but nothing is stopping OP from getting a CPO one with a long fucking warranty.
And frankly a B8 S4 is leagues better than a Evo X MR.
Nice opinion bro. You've not convinced me subarus suck. Good argument
>Bad Turbos that take out the whole engine
>Bad Transmissions (5spd manuals especially)
>Headgaskets as "preventive maintenance" (kek)
I had the misfortune of working on them a few times :^)
>by the time I can afford an Evo X they are all gonna be beat to shit and rice-taxed to hell because DA LAST EVO EVA!
Try downshifting being footing it, (I do know it was a common problem In the 2.5t.) Easily remedied tho
Change your oil and your car will last fine, isn't a pre mature probablem it's a "I upped the boost and my 140k engine blew up" problem
Never ever heard of that, referring to the screen in the lgt oil feed?...simple take it out
Nothing wrong with the wrx 5spd, stop launching your fucking car and it'll be fine. The opposite is true for evos. Strong 5spd weak 6spd
Again never heard of them as preventative maintenance, early na 2.5 had issues but those were resolved. Up the boost on anything turbo 4 and don't expect your stock hg to be bullet proof.
Problem with subarus is dumb asses buy a bugeye with 160k. Slap an sti turbo in with no tune and bitch when the motor pops. Even so Mitsubishi isn't invincible either.
Not for an evo 10 at age 24 its not. Im suprised he even got apporoved let alone a rate sub 15-20%. I cant be fucked to pay 600+ a month on a car note for 5 yeara though. If i learned anything in my experience growing up its that making payments on anything you dont have to is gay to the maximum.
Are you fucking serious. Evos are hilariously cheap to maintain if you arent modding for high hp. Keep it as a daily and follow the owners repair schedule and the car will not fucking die. You need to stop believing every meme you see. Ive owned evos and german cars and holy fuck the plastic water pumps, the plastic everything. You german cuck fuck you.
>"Mature Daily Driver".
Are you actually listening to yourself?
>statistically better than STI competitor in every single way
These are facts, simply cannot dispute it. STI is inferior. Slower around a track, slower in a straight line, less accepting to modifications, etc. Also IMO uglier. Looks like a camry with a strange shaped wing.
>I want something mature and comfortable to drive
>so I'm buying an Evo
Evos ride like you're falling downstairs and I'm sure the giant boy racer wing with the eventual fart can will scream mature as well lmao
