Which would you buy, a new 2016 MX-5 or a ~2009 BMW 135i? Assume the Miata out the door price is close to $30k and the BMW is closer to $20k. I'm assuming the higher cost of owning the BMW over ~5 years would offset the price difference making them effectively financially equivalent.
Obviously the BMW has more power, but is it really better to drive overall? I've driven the new Miata and it doesn't feel as slow as I thought it would.
TL;DR, pick one and tell me why
>dude BMW's are super unreliable, an expert on reddit told me!
Your picture is a 3 series btw.
and the bmw is a 300+ horsepower monster if you have to ask this you are a fag. but don't buy the 3 series drop top. if you really want a drop top get a Z4 M Roadster. Trust me. 330hp of straight six sex.
Miatas are for fags.
Twice as fast as the miata. Interior isn't shit. And since it is used it is far cheaper. This is the car the miata wishes it could have been.
Lol u retarded boy? There's a wealth of information at your finger tips that can lead you to the conclusion that bmws are expensive to fix. Use fucking Google you backwoods retard
They are expensive to fix. They also don't break very often. That said that is the cost to drive a car that isn't a slow ass jap piece of shit. Well worth it in the mind of many. If you could afford one maybe your opinion would matter. Yes, they'll nickel and dime you to death but at least your interior doesn't look like it was made by fisher price.
LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE REAL WORLD AND ACTUALLY OWNING A BMW, DONT DO IT
Not all faggots with money own a BMW
Not all poorfags "wish" they have one
I chose reliable. 250k miles on half the repair costs here I come comfy as fuck
Yeah BMW interior is awesome
Congrats on your toyota. If you choose reliability thats great but I'd prefer a car that handles better and has a nicer interior. If you wish to travel from point A to B cheaply then a BMW isn't for you.
Thats not a bmw you dumbass.
So a troll image? What am I missing
>bmw is car ownershop on hard mode
isn't that the /o/ way of life?
Those are so shit to drive. I drove my bosses girlfriends. Goes like shit, shifts like shit, shit interior plastics there's laggy computers controlling everything. I wouldn't keep that car if I got it for free.
>spray painted interior
Ive been in that exact car. It looks worse in person.
>still buttons everywhere
>Console looks like a stack of 90s home electronics
>cups go where your elbow does
>Cant rest your right hand without hitting a button or some other shit
but anon, i'm not a boyracer, I like smooth and comfy, while having money in my pocket.
Lexus and Mercedes for the most part, have more genuine interiors. I drove a 335 and being faster in a straight line in no way makes up for the hard stoney feel of every part of the interior. A 2009 335i costs almost 8-10k LESS than a 2009 Lex/Merc competitor for a reason, the fun doesn't last for very long.
Fair enough. Those are shit tho. Also it would take an act of god to make that much wear. Try again. That is ridiculous. My family has three e90s and none are even worn there. This fag has kids that kick the console 24/7. what do you want them to do, make tan plastic lol?
That is not even remotely "normal" wear.
Im not mine was falling apart and when the lacquer peels off theres real wood under it. Spraypainting soft touch composites doesn't work. Theyre made in the final color. The leather seats are real leather.
Show me another picture that isn't from a guy on a forum with kids who rested their feet on a center console made of plastic for 50k miles.
Then I'll show you my interior with 60k miles, you show me yours, and we'll decide who's is better build quality.
Thats the thing it isn't smooth. The transmission feels like it has no idea what its doing shifting randomly too late or early. Then when you eventually "manualy" shift it is has a delay like it thinks you dont know what you're doing. The suspension isn't good either. Its jiggly and yet not firm enough at the same time.
To add to it.
The carpet falls apart when you look at it.
The seats are always cracked.
Buttons are always missing.
The glovebox won't close all the way.
The center console won't close all the way
The cupholders are broken as fuck.
I could go on for days
Detailed 1000s of BMWs m8.
The interiors are shit.
the one bmw i owned was shit (mostly my fault for buying in the dark) but it still had a decent interior after 20 years
you can't fuck 99% of car interiors like this unless you spill something nasty or have dogs or kids in there
some do tend to melt bits in the sun though
If you detailed a single car, no matter the marque, like that then the owners were terrible people who either blatantly abused or neglected their cars. Probably why they came to you for their services. After all, you are on par with a jiffy lube in terms of customer competence.
Same. My e36 looks brand new less the drivers seat which wear is wear after 180k. My e30 is amazing minus the cracked dash and my e85 looks like it is a 2015. People like this either deal with the lowest tier of owners or are full of themselves.
You probably drove a neglected base model is250
They also have an issue with the intake system after the throttle body where "deposits" mess up the ratio, comfusing the shit out of everything, doubt it was ever cleaned.
Can't speak for the new ones but my 95 M3 still looks good even with its life in the California desert. The only issue is some of the glue melting.
dude. clean your seats with leather cleaner. i mean look at that armrest. even water and a sponge will take 90% of that off.
also dove gray m3 ftw. on my someday list for sure. now clean your car dude.
>driving a lexus and not being a woman or an elderly person
>dirty door panel
>worn shift knob
>missing door handle trim
This pic saddens me. Two hours with a sponge and $100 and your car would look like new. What the fuck is wrong with you?
I know, they need to be cleaned badly. Eventually I will. This was my dad's car before me, and he didn't take care of the interior at all. I've cleaned the armrest and seats better since that picture if it makes a difference. Some of it I think is stained.
1 series, just because I've always had a boner for them.
Not even from a benchracing perspective, they just look -cool- to me.
But I'd be the kinda guy to get a 1M because I hate convertibles and prefer hardtops.
Yeah your seat is fucked your dad abused the leather. That said your door panel is vinyl and will 100% clean up as good as new. water and a cloth and scrub.
What a shame. The people who can afford these fine cars abuse them out of apathy. Money in fact, cannot buy class.
I'd recover the seats if I was you. For 1k or so you'd look good as new. Many kits out there for vaders. How many miles anon?
>not enjoying the reliability of toyota in a more comfortable, smooth and lazy format
It's like you want to feel the bumps in the road
Convertibles suck. Roadsters are awesome. A car designed from the ground up to be a drop top rocks. Those that were made a convertible as an after though suck.
>Z cars, boxster, etc.
>not having one as a balls reliable comfy dd to horrific places such as "the city" and "crowded parking garages" and "mexico"
I don't, really. They're extremely uncommon in Texas, and I only knew they existed because grid 2 I think.
Most of the time when I see one I write it off as another 3 series until in retrospect I realize it was too small.
That is awesome. Recondition that bitch back to new. What color exterior? Sorry if you're a bimmer guy but that car reconditioned is worth a shit load of money, you know that right? More pics please.
Purple. I wouldn't sell it.
Definitively needs some exterior work too.
Did I mention it'd been sitting in the sun for the last two years, untouched. I could take it if I could get it running and I kid you not, I put in a refresh battery and it fired right up. Gave it a tune up and some tires and bam.
For the OP, I'd splurge and get the M235i.
I hate your dad. I don't even understand how this happens. I live in the desert and my cars wouldn't look like this if I parked them in a lake for a decade.
Either way you def aren't restoring that so clean up the interior and focus on performance. Mad jelly anon. Will own one some day. Best free car ever.
What Dinan shit does it have?
Last picture, don't wanna hijack the thread for my project car.
Totally not trolling you.
He bought it for me in 2003 after I got my license in high school. I raced around in it, cheated death, you know, normal stuff until I moved out in 2007 to "be my own man" or whatever, moved out of state and bought another car. My dad drove it off and on until about two years ago when he said he the engine wouldn't turn over and he could smell gas. Started right up for me.
Hey I have one of those. My interior is far worse, clearcoat is starting to peel. Mine has 220k miles though. Runs amazingly well and is a blast to drive, so I don't really care.
Well fixed up it will be worth at least 12,000 USD. So that is a lot of money to refresh the interior and exterior. Being that the car was free this is actually an investment.
e36s won't die.
Seriously. Before I the E36 I had an E30. This was the odometer when I sold it. I'm a firm believer in cheap high mileage beater BMWs. Both of these cars are daily drivers, never let me down.
Totally. I have all the tools already to fix everything myself, including the paint tools. I'd only sell it for the down payment on an M235i. Supposedly they've recaptured that compact solid performance fun of the E36 M3 but with modern technology.
>An "M" car
Its cool but anon it is not a real M car. Don't be fooled by BMWs marketing.
Buy an M coupe anon. Used. Appreciating asset.
I know it's not a real M car, but the handling and performance pretty much makes it one, though the M2 is suppose to debut at the Detroit Autoshow this year.
The M Coupes/Z4s are cool but I like having a back seat.
A 1M or 135is (pretty much the same car) are tempting, I just don't see them in a manual anywhere. Not that I'm looking hard right now, the idea of buying a new or newer BMW is floating around my head.
The 1m and 135 are very different. The m has wider track, a more agressive suspension set up, more power, better exhaust, and probably some more goodies im forgetting. They're both great cars but the price difference is more than justified and 135 are already depreciated significantly 12-13k near me while 1m literally appreciated from the gate.
Posting my e36. Got her about 9 years ago. Pic is from a while ago but she's just as clean now. 99 with 130k on the clock.
>proper sports car vs a shit-tier supreme gentleman rwd econobox
why is this even a question
On one hand you have a sportscar on the other a 2l fagmobile. How do you even need to ask when even the slowbaru twins piss on the Miata by 2.2 seconds a lap?
A weekend car isn't just about speed. A S63 AMG is faster than just about everything but wouldn't exactly make a good weekend car.
>The 135i is a precision driving machine.
So is the Miata
I'd take the 135 out of the two (and I'm a Miata owner) but I'd prefer a Z4 35is because I like the gay ones
>miata wins this head 2 head
IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION?
PITTO KURU IS THE ANSWER.
I love watching the butthurt panic from Miata fanbois as they rush to cherry-pick laptimes where the Mazda is .1 of a second faster than a car on prius tires whenever someone posts that image. I can't believe how insecure they must be in their choice of car.
>lol i trol you
is that what you say everynight to yourself to cope up with the buyers remorse?
It's a superior to 4chan because everything doesn't disappear after a day or so and there's less shitflinging.
That being said, there is a reason the le reddit meme was created...
