The original YF-12 was designed as an interceptor that could catch anything. It was quite worthless and expensive to operate in that role and LM removed the ordinance and replaced them with cameras and gave us the SR-71
Muh glorious LNF
mandatory twingo
>>14291341
Now that I think about it, I may have gotten that backwards. The YF-12 and the SR-71 both descended from the A12, if memory serves.
>>14291353
I've seen a few of these around, they look fun to drive but that front end is ugly.
for shits and giggles
>>14292606
>rear engine
>front wheel drive
FUCK this rustles my jimmies. Who the fuck thought this was a good idea? Don't even get me started on the MR2
>>14292656
>>14292656
Pretty sure that's RWD, but I wouldn't have put it past them to be such absolute madmen that they'd make it FWD.
>>14292675
The gear shifter is up front, and you can clearly see the axle connecting the two front wheels.
>>14292668
Fuck off, you don't know what you're talking about, Toyotafag.
>>14292681
Except you can clearly see there's no differential between the front wheels, and there are driveshafts going to the rear wheels.
The gear shifter is up front because that's where the driver is, and it's connected to the transmission via linkages.
>>14292681
I had another pretty good b8 pic but my hard drive recently died.
>>14292656
nice b8 m8
>>14292694
>linkages
Fucking use generic meaningless words, why don't you.
You can SEE the wheels are connected. You can't see some of it because, for whatever reason, the seats cover up the rest of the drive shaft. You can clearly see the rear wheels aren't attached to the transmission, and it's way too far forward to be connected to them anyway.

the pic was a VW Beetle, you fuckwit

May I interject; what you refer to as pushrods is in fact cam in block...
>There are people on /o/ RIGHT NOW who don't know the difference between a Fiat 500 and a Volkswagen Beetle.
>>14292763
Exactly this. Cam in block. You know... cam in block. Cam in fucking block, come on guys, it's just cam in block. Not that hard, just a block with cam IN it.
>>14292760
Whatever fag, you changed it, maybe the pic was a prototype or something who knows, clearly it shows RF layout, your wrong, end of discussion.

Cam in block/pushrods, or as I've taken to calling it, cam in block plus pushrods. It has over 500 confirmed kills on the nurburgring.
>>14292656
That's not fwd faglord

Easy. One is an Italian piece of shit, the other is a German piece of shit

I'm sorry I can't buy a vintage fiat 500, drive it to your house, and show you.

One's rear engine FWD, the other is an italian piece of s- actually, who cares about the other one?

> mid-engine rear-wheel-drive is worse than rear-engine front-wheel-drive
When I was in elementary school I would always check out a book from the library that showed all kinds of cutaways from cars, ships, trains, the space shuttle and even oil rigs. The kicker was that it showed people in them, and where applicable there was always someone sitting on the toilet.
