Just got myself a Mazda 6 with a V6. Sure it isn't the fastest car on the road, but it's faster than 90% of anything you encounter daily in traffic.

Having a V6 makes you feel like a step above everyone and their little 4 cylinder pieces of shit. I love it.

V6's really shine when you build them up and fi.
I.e. turbo honda j-series ive seen a few in vue sleepers regularly get over 30 mpg while having 400+hp.

Another example, the 3800 is a fucking pos stock. With literally just a 15$ 180° thermostat on the s/c ones, you can get well over 35mpg, just because they run so fucking hot.

Stock v6 a shit, best of both worlds built though.

I think mine was made on a good day in the factory. It's tolerated dogs and kept going like a champ. Battered around racetracks, driven to and from work, taken friends on long trips.

It's never failed to start. Never failed to run. Never flooded. Just kept humming on. Keep the ignition happy, keep the oil in it and premix and it'll go like fuck.

It's a car that if you grok what it offers, nothing else will ever do.

There's very little out there that goes up to 9000rpm without flinching. Early S2000's maybe and some glorified Fiats but that's about it.

Stock RX8 does it from the factory.

D585 coils, dwell remap, and either run it with premix of fit a sohn adaptor. Doesn't need much more than that and an eye on it for a good happy life and do 9000rpm all day.

Biggest weakpoint of the Renesis were shite ignition coils causing a whole load of secondary issues, some under-oiling in one ECU revision, and maybe side-seal springs being a little too light, but none of them are tricky to fix.

My first mods were the boomba motor mounts. Only costs $200 and basically bolts the engine to the frame. No more wheel hop+much smoother shifts. They completely change the way the car drives i would totally recommend them as a first mod especially if you plan to increase power.

I have a 450hp lt1 firebird w/ a 6 speed and i notice a lot of civics (the ones i race at least) launch damn good but lose out from a 40+ roll, especially in 100+ runs.
