>He actually drives a manual in 2016 when dual clutch systems are faster and more user friendly
Manual is more fun. That's primarily why we like it. Not for benchracing purposes.
A DCT will knock a couple seconds off your lap times, but there is no part of your brain that can tell the difference between a 1:58 lap and 2:00 lap. It won't feel any slower, and speed is all about feel. Drive a truck and a roadster at the same speed and tell me otherwise.
Why would I want to risk missing a shift and having to fork out $2000 to repair my transmission just so I can stir a stick when accelerating? Modern automatics let you pick the gear anyway so its the same thing.
Pretty much op.
If dual clutches can downshift through corners in a split second then they're worth it.
They also have to be predictable unlike regular automatics. I hated going through turns with an automatic because I never knew when it would downshift and I wouldn't like the raw power speeding me up to where I don't want to be in the corner.
Just let me downshift when I want and let me control the speed in the corner. Auto is such shit for that. Auto should be outlawed and dual clutch only from now on.
And yeah what's the point of manual when dual clutch exists. People only like manual if they've never driven dual clutch. I've driven plenty of Audi and vw dsg transmissions and I really enjoyed it.
Oh don't mind me, just posting the 120k manual-only car that BTFO'd the million dollar 918 around 13 tracks.
Don't mind me, just posting the 120k car that is having its production halted because they can't figure out curtain airbags.
FUCK THIS SAFETY BULLSHIT
I WANT A CAR THAT DOESN'T WAY A METRIC FUCKTON WITH BUBBLE WRAP PUT INTO THE WALLS
If you live in the United States owning a manual is probably the most efficient way to deter filthy niggers from stealing your shit because you're entire population is fucking brain dead and can't work a clutch to save themselves.
For once heartbreaker makes a good post
The Viper hasn't been selling period since it's the only supercar ballsy enough to only come in manual and not cater to people who solely want a supercar for the image. I'm 99% sure the airbag thing is just an excuse (although dumping a lot more into R&D for a low-volume supercar isn't appealing to a company either).
More like 2.0t and when it came out it was better than ferraris transmissions.
Ask Jeremy Clarkson
>garbage manual is entertaining
Guess how I know you drive an automatic. Garbage manuals are not entertaining. A shit shifter is absolutely shit. You can't shift worth a damn if the thing is knocking like a bitch. A well designed manual is fucking fun, a piece of shit manual is worse than a piece of shit. Don't be delusional. Shit.
Although it does reach a point where it's so goddamn shitty you just dont' give a fuck anymore. That arguably happens with automatics too though.
that's because you're a child. I'm 30 and have driven manuals my whole life. They are pointless outside of the race track. Get an auto and drive. The cars in my garage are manual, but my daily is an auto. Auto is for people who aren't brand new to cars.
..I climb on roofs for a living. Legs are perfect. Driving a manual is for poor people and teenagers.
>implying he isn't a man child
>implying he doesn't have a show based on getting children to watch
>he wears all blue jean clothes
You can't skip gears in a DSG, so there's that. Also, you can't bump start one. It's also more expensive than a manual, both to buy and repair. They're limited on power output. Should I keep going or are you slowly realizing how retarded you are?
>all the arguments are about how poor people can't afford them
>poor people can't afford to fix them
>can't afford to buy them
>can't afford to maintain your car or get it towed
>limited on power LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
>tap twice to go up in gears.....so hard.....
.......what? It has nothing to do with not being ABLE to shift dude. Auto is the only thing you need for daily driving. There is ZERO need for a manual in a daily driver. I have my track car and motorcycle that are manual. A daily car has no need to be one. You could rather have one, but a manual is not better nor necessary.
>Driving a manual is for poor people and teenagers, he says while he just HAD to make so many posts about something that has literally no consequences to his life, stubbornly trying to change other people´s opinions and perception of fun
Yeah, not like a teenager at all.
When I first started learning about cars I thought DCT was some epic supermanual with two clutch pedals and two shifting sticks, each for odd and even gears.
I was really disappointed when I found out it's just the flappy paddle automatic trans.
pneumatic clutchless sequential is priddy baller to
just that many clutch less systems cant handle much power
and shiftless transitions are banned by the fia who says they might just as well be a cvt
>manual is good for performance and true racing
>BUT BUT WE'RE IN IT FOR FUN NOT RACING
>RWD is the only drivetrain for real performance ,it's physics
>BUT RWD MUH FEELS ITS FOR FUN NOT BENCHRACING LIKE FWD
the hypocrisy on /o/
fuck all of you kids
Don't care, can't benefit from it in street driving.
> user friendly
So fucking what, I'm not a manbaby that needs my car to coddle me. Why operate a vehicle at all? A chaffeur is more user friendly.
> He doesn't drive a Honda
I can skip several gears on a downshift with no problems.
Flipping a paddle to change gears isn't fun no matter how much mental gymnastics you benchracers do. It's about as entertaining as flipping two light switches on the wall.
They suck ass in traffic when constantly jerking into gear and still have annoying shift points unless you push it into manual mode. But at that point why the hell don't you get a manual if all you want is control over shifting?
I really don't understand how shaving .3 seconds off your 0-60 influences your perception of "fun" that easily.
>They suck ass in traffic when constantly jerking into gear and still have annoying shift points unless you push it into manual mode.
>constantly jerking into gear
What? What kind of shit ass DCT did you try?
>I really don't understand how shaving .3 seconds off your 0-60 influences your perception of "fun" that easily
And people don't understand why you have to drive a manual to have fun either. Look, I got no horse in this race since I can and do drive both, but this hate war over a transmission is seriously retarded.
You either like it or you don't. Who the fuck cares? It's your car, do what you want.
