>>14268915 Its a hunk of shit that will have a check engine light in the first 350 miles. It also eats brakes and clutches It also has super shitty cheap interior Its over priced Its a girls car Its a hopped up shitbox girls car Its gayer than a miata Its produced very cheaply thus will break a lot blah blah blah its a pile of shit
>>14268954 >reviewers >omg thrashing a brand new car is fun!!!! they dont deal with long term issues And yes i have driven them. Stock and modified. They have all had several issues after they leave the dealer.
>>14268915 No, the BRZ is a meme car with its 150lb-ft torque. The Fiesta ST will eat it alive. That said the fiesta is a cheap econobox piece of shit and nicer seats and a better motor don't change that.
>>14269090 This your first time on the internet? They post the SAME times around the track. I'd hardly call that "eating it alive" fucking ford faggots i swear to god. Drink more koolaid than toyota fags
>>14268927 Iv never heard of it eating clutches except for rare cases, which can be found for virtually every manual car. The brake thing is real though, but who actually gives a fuck since brake pads are cheap and the Fiesta ST stops on a dime. I can't think of a single other car that doesn't have $4000 brakes that can stop as well as a Fiesta can.
You don't have the manufacturer warranty any more, if you read the fine print, Mountune actually picks up the remainder of your warranty and then halves it. When you go in for a warranty claim you're going to have to jump through a few extra hoops to get it covered. Not saying that you will be denied, just that you will have a bit of extra oversight. Same goes for the Ford Racing tune.
It's the equivalent of having a 3rd party warranty but less scummy.
>>14268927 Alright half of this is opinions but only point I'll argue is >It also has super shitty cheap interior Not to be that guy, but have you ever sat in one? It's honestly the most comfortable tight interior I've ever been in. The Recaro seats alone are over $1,000 so I really don't know where you're getting "cheap" from. I seriously want the seats alone for my car
>>14269087 >cons >shit pulled out of his ass with no proof nor do claims match anyone elses >factual
This is the other average /o/ poster, a complete retard willing to believe whatever people say to confirm his negative opinion after his parents aunt's sister cousin had a beat to fuck 1990s V6 Mustang that popped a headgasket
I honestly think half of the raw unadultered autism against the STs is just /o/'s Mazda fanboys butthurt their company is too broke to make another Mazdaspeed, kind of like a problem woman with borderline personality disorder they go back and forth going NO ITS ACTUALLY A MAZDA AND ITS WAY MORE UNRELIABLE then right after THE 2017/2018/2019/2020 MAZDASPEED 3 IS GONNA BE WAY BETTER JUST WATCH
The Mazdaspeed 3 was a great car, the STs are just better and newer. Euro Ford's ST/RS team is just fucking brilliant and were making gr8 fwd cars since the 1980s.
The real tragedy is that we propped up both Mazda and American Ford by reusing the cheaper and simpler Protege instead of using Euro Ford's far better Fiesta/Escort/Focus for the US Escort.
They're seriously fun, good power to weight ratio after some light modifications too.
I bought it understanding it's a hyped up shitbox, with an economy interior but really, what more do you need in something you drive hard? I don't touch the plastics other than getting in and out, the shift knob and steering wheel feels great, the Recaros are bomb, and I have bluetooth for music.
Other than that it's a tach and a speedo, you and the road.
>>14270929 But it can pull of time saving maneuvers like drift It can't take power or handle like rwd Pepsifag said and I agree, that all fwd "sports cars" are compromises, Fiesta and focus would be much better off on a rwd platform
>>14270966 This is the only post I've made on /o/ today. I'm tired of people calling anything popular a meme.
No, the Fiesta ST is not a meme in North America, because there really isn't any competition. It's popular, it's fun, somewhat practical, and easily tunable. Unless Mazda or someone else wants to come out with a light and somewhat powerful hot hatch, it'll be king. I still dream of a Mazdaspeed 3, but it won't be out until at LEAST 2017 or 2018 if they announce it.
>>14271702 No real common issues, some people got a bad factory transmission (like ~8 on the forums, out of thousands, Ford replaced it for them). I find the Recaros super comfy and I'm 6'2"/210, but not everyone does. The 14/15 have the old sync system, but I find it usable, as I only wanted Bluetooth music from my phone. The rest of the interior is bare bones, but the shift feels nice and the steering wheel feels nice (and what else are you touching really?).
Stock fuel economy is around 28/city 35/highway, and that's driving it pretty hard in the city/75mph highway.
Stock suspension is firm, too firm for some, but no where near a miata or brz.
Active and growing aftermarket and online community, you also don't see them on the road everyday.
>>14271738 Iv gotten 30 city and 42 highway out of my Fiesta ST, so the MPG estimates from the factory are incredibly conservative. Those estimates are what I'm getting on winter fuel.
The recaro's break in, I have a Focus ST and sometimes drive a family members Fiesta, who is a giant of a man and sitting in his car is like sitting in a crater because the recaro's have broken in to his size. Until then, they suck total dicks and sill stab you in the legs.
As for the interior, the best part about the FiST being so cheap is you can get it fully loaded for like 24k and the car is rare as fuck, so why get a bare bones one?
>>14271446 The irony of this post RWD is the drivetrain for supreme benchracers, in fact you were just doing that a couple posts ago now you're appealing to muh feels and its all about fun after being proven wrong that hey, maybe FWD CAN compete
man fuck this rampant hypocrisy and double think on /o/
>>14268927 I've had my ST for 2 years and 30kmi and the only thing that's true is eating brakes. As far as I know the clutch issue is a Focus ST issue, not Fiesta, and I don't know where the CEL thing is coming from.
The interior is as good or better than anything else in its bracket in the US, unless you count the MINI, which is substantially more expensive. Most of the bad interior claims come from UK magazines, who compare it to European mini hot hatches that don't exist in the US. (VW Polo GTI, various French and Italian stuff.)
>>14270328 This is exactly what I bought mine for. I never intended for it to be a surrogate sports car, I just wanted a practical DD that wasn't boring.
>>14270345 The brakes stop well the first few times, but what I've noticed is that they suffer badly from fade. I'm planning on better pads soon.
>>14271446 I wish people would stop comparing the FR-S and FiST. They really have nothing in common other than general price and the fact that they're both "enthusiast" cars. The Fiesta is a practical DD with added fun factor, the FR-S is a "junior" sports car.
They're good in different situations, too. The FR-S is at its best on a track or a high-speed canyon, where it can keep its revs and momentum up. The Fiesta is all about low and midrange torque, which makes it good on tight corner exits, making it great on technical canyons and at autocross. That low-end is also really nice for daily driving, as it provides a lot of ability to do sketchy lane changes and other traffic maneuvering.
>>14271738 I don't mind SYNC at all myself. I had an 8th gen Si before this and that truly had an awful infotainment system, as does my mom's Prius. SYNC is straightforward and reliable.
My fuel economy has been a bit better than yours, driving around LA with lots of traffic I average around 32, and I've actually managed to get 41mpg on road trips up to San Francisco.
>>14273649 Oh, one more thing I REALLY like about the ST - it's totally stealth, especially in black where all of the grilles and stuff blend in. Ricers don't try to race me, cops don't even look at me, normal people don't cut me off or give me dirty looks. I've driven FR-S/BRZ on the road a few times, and everybody is out to get you in that thing, it just screams "rice rocket."
