I'd get an EG hatch because OBD1 for easy engine swaps. also, EG is lighter and cheaper.

Think of it this way. The best engine that the EK hatch came with in the US makes 106 hp. For the price of an EK hatch you could buy an EG and throw a $500 B20Z from a CRV in there and make 150 hp in a smaller lighter car.

Don't listen to this retard. FWD techniques translate to 4wd/awd driving. go for the ek, simply because it's cheap, super basic (easy to work on and prep) and has a full roof, whereas the del sol has a targa roof. In theory it should be more rigid.

Off topic, why do fags hate on fwd? Why do I see so many fwd cheap cars at grassroots rallies all around the world? Why are most BTCC and other major touring car series have so many successful fwd car?

There are advantages and disadvantages to any layout... Choose one that compliments your driving style and that's it.

Exactly, it's designed to make it fair so a manufacturer doesn't have to make a rwd car just to be competitive. Rule changes on location of the weight can sometimes shift the advantage too far one way or the other though.
