If you look closely you can see that they forgot to paint some parts brown

like your nose? how is the pope doing btw?
>>
I like it. In the context of other early 90's cars it's normal.
I also like that BMW uses orange interior lights.
>>
>>14257840
Bmw has never made a bad interior
>>

Beige leather doesn't work without wood. Looks good aside from that, though.

I think it looks normal. Very generic and uninspired, but far from ugly. In other words:

Normal: The Car Interior.
>>
I actually real dig this interior, minimalist, while not looking like fisher price made it.
>>
Good for a 1990 car. Gotta love BMWs driver oriented panels
>>
Individual extended magma?

Personally I think the base is better than adding more colour, although if they actually made all of it magma then it would be nice. But it is not modena so meh.

E36 has the worst interior. Literally any 80s/90s BMW interior looks better.
>>
>>14259822

>>
Tan seems more unique than all black
>>
I want a 318ti with an M3 swap. I'd also accept just turbocharging the stock shit-tier engine.

On a scale from 1-10 how much of a faggot does this make me?
>>
Color is a matter of taste, but I like all black better.

From experience, cons of this interior are vents that will eventually brake, and design of glove box and all that area.

From drivers perspective tho its proper race car feel.
>>
>>14257840
First of all a classic BMW is all black, so this is a bad example. Otherwise with the exception of the big center "mono"-vent it is beautiful as all BMW interiors are. The mono-vent always looks wrong and autistic in a car. There have to be 2 vents. Vertical vents look like shit too. Round vents - depends on execution - but BMW is traditionally black and rectangular which is the style I like the most.
>>

E90 has in my opinion the best looking dash interior of perhaps all cars. Clean minimalistic and stylish. Yeah it's not driver oriented as older cars were but it's got a concept and style. And black-on-black combination, although risky because it can look cheap, looks great on this dash.
>>
I think they did a great job keeping all the controls in a tight, organised space. A lot of cars just seem to have them spread out all over and make the centre console fat.

Trying to make an interior look luxury just makes it look cheap and bad unless you go all in. By keeping it conservative you really can't find it askew. And it is an executive car after all, not luxury. I had a lux package M3 before and I definitely prefer the base interior in my current.

There is an older guy up the street from me with two 318tis. One has a S52, not sure about the other. They are great looking cars with some tweaks. A few swaps such as M3 bumper and Style 24s on the exterior really go far.

Funnily enough if you Google "318ti blue" the first picture to come up is his. Pixelly as it is I recognise the shrubs and sign behind it, about 100m from his house.

I learned to drive in one just like this, but with a few bits of wood.

E36 interiors are actually really nice if they're in perfect condition, but they don't age well. I had a super-mint low-mileage E36 M3 come into my shop for an alignment a while back, and after driving dozens of beat-up E36 track cars with broken glovebox latches and missing trim and shit, I was stunned to find how nice it was to sit in a well-preserved example.

Confirmed for never having actually sat in one, it's really comfy.

What do you not like about it?
>>

I've driven plenty they are just cheap japanese plasticy junk with that weird foam stuff everywhere covered in vinyl. its functional but not much more than that. also cloth seats are for peasants.

Never sat in one but it already looks cheap and ugly, and looks are important.
Sitting in a BMWs drivers seat is very comfy as well, grea ergonomics (actually often praised by car reviewers as well).
I love the e36 interior, you get a low seating position for better car feel, perfect pedal placement, everything just feels very right. also
>bmw had this cockpit in 1989
>>
>>14268728
Leather is for people that don't live in climates with extreme temperatures like Texas. Seat heaters might make the cold bearable with leather, but leather fucking sucks in the heat, which Texas has a shitton of. I'll take my cloth thank you very much.
>>
>>14262750
The Z4M of the same years ups it another notch. The carbon leather interior trim is so sexy.
>>
>>14268752
That wood trim is puke worthy. Glad mine only had wood trim on the window switch trim that was easy to paint over.
>>
>>14268753
>I'll take my cloth
Thats because you are poor and drive a subaru. The rest of us have tinted windows. I also drive a convertible in 35deg weather with heated seats without issue and live in a hotter place than texas too. Carpet belongs on the floor, not on a seat.

every BMW model feels very "at home" even if you have never sat in one before.
also pic related more 1989 bmw e31 interior
>>
>>14268781
>implying you have to be rich to own an E36
I drove one and the interior was completely falling apart, as well as the rest of the car around it. Mine might not be made out of the best materials but at least it's still together and not fucked.
>>
>>14268818
I simply meant in general cloth is gross. That e36 must have had a bunch of miles, I have one with 180k and it looks like new except for the drivers seat losing color but old cars are old.
>>14268752
wood will always have a soft spot for me in bmws
>>
>>14268838
Does Alcantara count as cloth? because BMW alcantara seats are great
>>
>>14268866
Of course alacantara is truly leather. Personally i'm not a fan but it does seem to be the way all new cars are going. I sat in a new M4 the other day and omg. Why am I poor?
>>
>>14268897

>>
>>14268514
it looks like a 90s ford interior mixed with a toyota interior, which is bad.
>>
>>14268766
Makes me think yaris or some other bottom tier economy car where the designer didn't give a shit. Why are the radio and vents just floating in the middle of the dash like they were an afterthought. Why is the whole thing just a formless and unoffensive blob?
>>
>>14269220
I suppose you'd have to actually sit in it to see what 65k USD gets you in a car as narrow as a yaris. The sharp edges are the opposite of a blob.
>>
>>14262750
The E90 may have the more stylish interior, but the E36 and E46 are much more enjoyable to drive. The E36 and E46 were the pinnacle generations of the 3-series.
>>
>>14269256
Meh I've been in plenty of cars in that class and some above it. The Z4 interior looks like ass.

>>14268838
Slightly better, but still that stupid floating vent radio island.
>>
>>14269321
I agree but the Z4M is worlds above the regular Z4 as far as trim. idk about bringing the console down though it would make the interior way too claustrophobic imo.

as far as the civic it is horribly ugly but i have always appreciated the simplicity. especially their gauges, and their floating vent radio island lol
>>
>>14269352
I loath to say it, but Honda nailed the small car cockpit with the S2000. The FD RX-7 is a close second in terms of form (but the quality of materials is greatly lacking).
