It's fast enough for what it needs to be. 8ish seconds to 60 is enough to get you up to speed, keep it at speed and slide it around turns at speed. That's the appeal.

As another owner, you can't really have much more fun without getting yourself into legal and potentially life threatening problems on public roads. V8s, I6s are entertaining but the two experiences are incomparable. The Miata is basically the same idea as the AE86, but more forgiving and modern. AE86 has no assistive tech beyond optional power steering.

Drive one. See what happens. Guarantee you'll have a good time.
