Halp pls.
OK to anyone who has owned a 4.6 mustang, has anybody experienced the water pump being froze in the block? I have beat on and pryed it every which way and have barely gotten it to budge. Am I doing something wrong here or am I going to have to resort to heat to get it out?
>>
they normally just fall off.

did you remove all the bolts?
>>
>>14226243
Yes, only 4 hold it in. I have been at it for 2days now.
>>
>>14226263
then hit it harder.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKiRbE8T0lg

but from what im noticing with the hammer marks, you are hitting the WRONG direction.

hit more outward towards the radiator, its receded inwards.

when in doubt, wheel puller.
>>
>penetrating oil all around meeting surfaces
>let it soak
>beat and pry some more
>>
>>14226226
glad to see you got the fan off. you left a bolt(s) in underneath the pump. what year is it, ill get you an alldata screengrab

>>14226324
This is the bottom I got all 4 out I just can't fathom why it won't come out
>>14226310

>>
>>14226324

>>
>>14226427

>>
>>14226445
Still have to have money as collateral and I'm broke till Thursday.
>>
>>14226470
towards the radiator, straight out.

STRAIGHT OUT.

its a 1/4 inch inside of the block.
>>
>>14226365
Post picture of mating surface of new pump.
>>
>>14226310
>>14226299
>>14226448
this use a hand sledge and hit it side to side like you fucking mean it. dont give up after a few whacks, fucking rage bash that shit. the block is iron you're not going to hurt the mounting surface and the water pump is sacrificial.
>>
>>14226226
Do you even lift ?

>>
>>14226226

>>
>>14226548
place your prybar or a large flat at the waterbump to block flange parallel to the block and pound it with the hammer chisel style. got mine off like that it is an f150 but same shit
>>

If that is an O ring slot the old ring is probably stuck to both surfaces. Does it come with a new O ring to put on there?

I would be putting a hard wood 2x4 on the pulley hub that is long enough to come up passed the engine. Then have a good hit at the end of it with a large hammer. Put a large shet of board or something to protect the radiator for when it comes out.
>>
>>14226631
Yes it uses an o ring

put your prybar right here and pry that bitch while pounding it.

there is a lip that you can pry on.
>>
>>14226656
Clean the block hole and lube the new ring with petroleum jelly when installing.

Yeah I bet its the ring holding it now.

A little bit of turning action on the housing may help crack the seal.

Managed to break it loose enough to weddge the screwdriver in thetr
>>
>>14226729
keep going broseph just try not to go crazy with the screwdriver dont want to fuck up the mating surface unless you want to get anew timing cover like a friend of mine did. just keep trying on that point and hitting it.
>>
You cant beat that out with a hammer. It has to slide directly forward. Try to get 2 screw drivers or pry bars behind it. Wiggle it back and forth until it comes out. Dont give up. You got this
>>
>>14226756
Trying to get one on the other side, seems that's where my issue is coming from
>>
>>14226769
Yeah it slides in and the oring may pop into place or just get really tight. It will not pop off like a normal pump. Has to slide out. You got it man. Im fighting with some ball joints on my evo. on a food break. I feel for you
>>
>>14226729
You are replacing that cracked belt too right?

>>14226797
Yep.
>>
>>14226884
No bolts on these. press in and out joints in aluminum arms... OF course my ball joint tool does not have the right size to remove it properly. So have to use one thats a little too big and pray. I need three hands for this crap
>>
>>14226892
Looks about the same as this thing, but I was also lucky enough to have a well stocked mechanic school and a lift at my disposal that day
>>
>>14226917
Shop*
>>
I was a mechanic for 15 yrs. Doesnt pay shit. Still have my tools. sometimes it just blows working off jack stands in the cold garage. I actually started the car up and turned the ac on so the fans would blow heat passed the rad. warmed it up pretty nice lol
>>
>>14226967
I live in Georgia so its not to terrible, but a heater would be nice.
>>
>>14226756
