how expensive would it be to ls swap a miata for real?
would it handle like a shelby cobra and just fuck my existence up?
k well it would just be plain retarded to do that in the first place.
the article talks about tractive forces and how they play a role in why you don't need 400ft/lbs of torque at all in a performance vehicle. and how hp is a more important figure than torque for performance applications.
okay, throw 220 lbs of sandbags into the front of your 2300lb car and tell me it doesn't affect the handling you fucking inbred autist.
fuck off with that meme already, it makes the weight balance shit, LS engines are shit and boomer tier shit.
THE ONLY reason people do this is because #1 they're common engines, and people think a 1000$ ls engine taken from some shitty 2000's pos camero/corvette is a good idea to stick into a performance car, and #2 they're under the impression that LS engines are easy to swap into shit, and that the gain is worth it, but the fact is that they're a shitty outdated engine, and only exists because it gets boomers panties wet. They're terribly inefficient for their size, tall as fuck gearing that is needed to put the power down fucks up the performance on the track, the added weight and size fucks the car, and most importantly, it's not as easy as slapping this pile of shit to the stock drivetrain. Custom fab + wiring is needed, and good luck maintaining driveability on the street.
The fact of the matter is that the fastest street raced time attack cars are all using small turbo engines because that's how a performance car should be built. F1 cars do not use high displacement low revving engines either for this reason.
It's not a cheap build, and you'd be far far far better off putting a built turbo 4 banger like a k20 into it with a turbo if you actually give a shit about performance instead of dick waving who can cram the shittiest engine into a small car because "hurrdurr mini corbette!" "hurrdurr muh shelbu!"
are you actually fucking stupid? My point was that LS engines are shit and americans are completely fucking retarded for thinking it's worth it to swap it into a small car. Which it's not for both cost and performance reasons, unless you're building a drag car (which is fucking stupid) which the miata is a shit platform to start with for that, so congrats, your car is both shit on the track, because of the shit weight balance and added weight, but it's also shit on the drag strip because you can't stick big tires on a miata, and the chassis is shit for it. So you've dumped 15 grand into your "performance vehicle" that has shit performance.
F1 cars have historically never been low revving high displacement engines because you don't fucking need 400ft/lbs of torque because fucking gearing makes up for any lack of torque you fucking idiot.
"torque is needed in a performance application" is a fucking meme made by americans to try and excuse their shitty engineering because they can't make an engine with more than 100hp/l without it blowing up.
if you think that an LS weighs 100kg more than a dressed mazda BP then you're WRONG. the ls1 weighs 457 lbs whereas the 1.8 IRON block weighs 433 lbs. That's the weight penalty of a turbo kit but reliable and torque everywhere. An LS isnt exactly low revving either. with nothing more than valvesprings (lol 100$ and 6 hours leisurely labor) it can rev to 6800rpm on stock bottom end. how much rpm you need nigger? protip: that's where a stock B18B revs too which is regarded as a rev happy engine.
>hurr ls swap it bruuh watch me Vape and tip my snapback Broo
cross brand engine swaps are heresy
I'm gonna put a 4.2 l6 Atlas LL8 into my corvette cause I want straight six sound and don't wanna go 2jz/RB like some kind of pants sagging mouth breathing fuck up
a lot of other things are ripped out
swapped vs stock wight comparisons are always bullshit for that reason
not really no
5.0L DOHC Coyote
>the 1.8 IRON block weighs 433 lbs
way to cheery pick you fucking spastic and its wrong anyway
its like 290lb WET
kill yourself for being so fucking retarded
why would the pushrods bend at less than stock revlimit?
thats off the top of my head. I'll weight (lol puns) for you to scour the internet to prove me wrong which I very may well be. Maybe that's the weight with transmission? anyways it doesn't matter because, from what I'm seeing, the weight distribution only changes to around 52/48. that's a battery relocation and fiberglass hood and keeping the gas topped off.
You said a 1.8l5 mañana engine weights over 400lb, you prove it
Don't try put it on me because you're a spastic piece of shit
> only changes to front biased shit
is that not meant to be bad or something?
For example rx7s and 8s not sure about older mazdas but I know for sure that 7s and 8s were designed to have all the weight behind the front axle to get as close to 50/50 as you can get, the car was designed for god tier handling dont shit on mazdas dream
okie dokie. I'm spastic but you have more replies than any 2 people ITT? you're still the one claiming a ls miata is a POS even though you've never driven one. I haven't either but I drove a 5.0 miata and it was fantastic.
It'll handle like a pig, the suspension and drive train aren't designed for that kind of power or torque. You could make it work, but it's more than just an engine, you'd have to strip out the entire driveline and suspension setup along with the engine, and it would still probably not handle as good as a stock Miat
But it'd be fast as fuck in a sort-of straight line
I'm not claiming it's a pos?
Just fuck off retard tripcunt. When you get called out for beijg retarded just shut up and run away, dokt try damage control Like the rest of the trips trying to defend their anime image board honor
This is why trips shouldn't be allowed
>thinks a stock miata handles well
>clearly has never driven a good car
I had a miata, it's just small, it's not THAT fucking good stock. Better than a shit box, not as good as high end sports cars.
mad as hell. and yes you did say the miata was a piece of shit right here >>14225975. so what I don't have encyclopedic knowledge of engine weights. any car I have is faster than your bus pass. just know you're so mad and been scouring the internet and browsing Iamright.com it makes you look like an autist.
Lol so fucking mad bro
You know how thus site works right? Not ever anon is the same person, my first post was the one where i called you out
You said a fucking na8 engine weighs over 400lb
You're fucking stupid
deal with it
> huur duur bus pass
Eat a dick bro and stay mad as fuck you don't know shit but run your mouth anyway and then get upset when called out
and thanks for proving my point about le tripfag honor
by the way, all this would have been avoided if you'd spent literally two seconds in Google instead of pulling weights out of your ass
A lot of those swaps are missing things compared to stock
Lots of parts swapped out with lighter weight ones
It's like that thread on norotors, huur duur muh v8 swap turned out 800lb lighter
> fully stripped interior and carbon Fibre everything
>having this much of an autistic shitfit
You realize that most of the weight in the V8 swap comes from the transmission and not the engine, right? Which means that the added weight is in the center of the car.
Which means you're an ass blasted idiot who knows nothing about V8 swapped Miata's.
>screen shotting tiny parts of a random uncited forum post on his phone
>thinks this is representative of anything
muh v8 swap fanboys kek
The difference between a 1.6+trans and LS1+T56 is waaay over 200lb. So keep posting that tiny screenshot of some random swap done by bob where he totally didnt remove any other parts that would otherwise be on a stock car or replace parts with lighter materials. And his methods for weighing the car before and after were totally identical, not one less millimeter of fuel in the tank or whatever.
Yeah, they totally arent trying to get as much money in their pockets as possible
>huur duur look at these results from a company that makes money off stupid muh v8 retards
Again lad, the weight difference between a 1.6+trans and LS1+T56 is like 260lb. Keep crying.
Do a J32A2 Swap so the Austist don't sperg out over non-weabo motor in their nippon NB Eunos.
>costs as much as a porsche 911 turbo
GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY FACE WITH THAT NOISE. WEW LAD.
here's some used ones for sale
First one is asking for over 50k, cheaper more used ones are about 30k it seems though. Still expensive. Le 500 dollars and le afternoon couldn't be a less serious statement if it tried.
I've put a decent amount of research into this. You can do it for about $10k if you don't have to buy many tools and wait for a decent deal on an LS1+T56.
