Real torque vectoring?
>>
>>14222233
Nevermind, apparently you can get the top trim in the same colors as the concept car
>The Continental will be offered in four trim levels: Premiere, Select, Reserve, and Black Label. The latter comes in three different themes: Chalet (a wintry look with creams and white), Thoroughbred (equine inspired in tans and browns), and—exclusive to the Continental—Rhapsody (which mimics the show-car’s interior with deep blue and lots of chrome).

That white isn't doing the design any favours. I want to see it in anything else.

But I have to say it's surprisingly true to the concept. Only thing I'm really not liking is the treatment of the lower door sills (with the cut-out and the chrome strip). It'd look much better if they just left it flat.

Seriously, this colour combo on the released pics isn't very appealing. You'd think they'd want to put their best foot forward.

Honda did the same thing with the Ridgeline. The released colour looks terrible on it, but it looks OK in a dark colour.

AWD > RWD

If you want a "hot" giant luxury sedan (why anyone would is beyond me), there's the 400hp turbo AWD option.
>>

This. Im glad their approach now is seats by lay-z-boy suspension by serta. Fuck sports I just want straight luxury.
>>
>>14222339
Indeed. For packaging, FWD-based platforms just work better.

I think Lincoln is fine leaving the 'sports sedan' thing to others, but it'll be interesting to see how the AWD turbo MKZ stacks up to the CTS, A6, etc.

The Merc S600 Maybach as large as it is also has RWD and AWD options. almost all the big luxury sedans do i think (lexus ls also does). not really a matter of it being "hot" or "sporty" just a preference.

I get what you're all saying though but again options never hurt.

The MKX isn't a Q7 competitor, it competes more with the Q5. The upcoming next generation Navigator is what will compete with the Q7 but it's yet to be unveiled.

What's sad is that the current Navigator which is a 10 year old design still manages to look better than the Q7.
>>
Guys, it's twin turbo.
>>
>>14222472
I'm talking about the MKZ. Don't think that other models would feel and look WAY different
>>
>>14222458
Huh, good catch. Normally Fords/Lincolns have storage cubbies under the "floating console", which I hate because if you put anything there, you're going to forget where you put it until a month later since it's out of sight, but it looks like the tunnel is blocked up in the Continental.
>>
>>14222457
The benefit of RWD in a luxury barge is to save a bit of money if you live in a hot dry climate. RWD is great in Italy or Saudi Arabia or Texas. But FWD is better anywhere there's snow/ice, and AWD better still.
>>
>>14222464
Modern Lincoln interiors are great. The MKC shits all over everything else in the class for interior quality/appointment.

Lincoln as a company is focused first and foremost on the interior of their cars.
>>

>>14222503

>>14222514
No, but I've driven MKZ and been a passenger in MKS. It is a disgusting Ford with a different logo
>>
>>14222503
"European car", "American car", are meaningless terms these days. All these companies have design studios all over the world, doing design to sell products globally.

There used to be a divide because the North America market skewed larger for the price, so for the same money Americans would prefer a larger but less finely finished car, vs. in Europe where they'd take it smaller but higher spec. But the gap had narrowed to the point of non-existance the last 10 years, with segments being pretty uniform globally (just with a tendency towards diesels in Europe).
>>

>>14222542
Are you kidding? Loads of European "luxury" cars feel like junk. Ever sat in a Jaguar X-Type? Hell I drive a Mercedes, but even I'll admit that a damn Cadillac ATS feels nicer than a 320i. There isn't some inherent gap between the two. Hell, the Focus and half of Buicks are actually German.
>>
>>14222554
And yet somehow you know what the Continental interior's like, even though you haven't sat in it.
>>
>>14222542
>No, but I've driven MKZ and been a passenger in MKS. It is a disgusting Ford with a different logo

The first-gen MKZ (Zepher) was basically just a tarted up Fusion. But the new one (with the sliding roof) is really nice inside.
>>
>>14222542
>No, but I've driven MKZ and been a passenger in MKS. It is a disgusting Ford with a different logo

Which is why Lincoln is killing it off and replacing it with this. That's the whole point. Even from pictures you can tell it's much nicer than the MKS. Are you permanently frozen in 2004?

Like the other another anon mentioned, the lack of a chrome front bumper is a downside. That front bumper has been a signature feature on past Continentals.

The same goes for the front nonstandard square-ish grille. Every notable Lincoln continental (mk8 not included) has had a squared off front grille. The proposed one on the 2017 looks too similar to a Kia K900.

The 2017 mkz has similar styling, though it is a welcome upgrade from its previous iterations.

The new MKZ integrates the new corporate design language better.

One thing in particular that makes the MKZ looks higher-end than the Continental is that the hood goes all the way to the grill with no cut lines (that's become rare because it makes for more expensive repairs, but who cares if you're buying a big money car).

Only thing, stylistically, the Continental has on the MKZ are the trick door handles. The MKZ rear in particular is fantastic, while the Continentals' is meh at best.
