Turbo Chryslers. No matter where you live, those things probably exist there and I doubt they are any more expensive to acquire over there than in the states.

We have a turbo Le Baron and to be honest (famiglia) it's a piece of shit. Convertible top leaks to hell, the turbo is tiny (IDK where you're getting the idea of a "big ass turbo" from but it sure as hell didn't come stock - even the not-so-common Turbo II models only had a T03, and the Turbo I's don't even have an intercooler), the chassis is floppy as fuck and the (manual) gearbox is very very 80s in that it's extremely unrefined. I much prefer my Saab 9000 Aero.

Also, 175hp from a 2.2l turbo (Turbo II) or 150hp from a 2.5l turbo (Turbo I) really don't make them go "hella fast for the money" all things considered. They are cheap though, and somewhat moddable I guess. Just don't get a convertible.

Hard top is solid as fuck though, the Getrag is a Getrag, blame the Germans for not knowing how to make a good transmission.
Mine is an Turbo II and while the 175hp wasn't all that much for the time, the 281nm of torque was and still is a very decent amount for a car that doesn't weigh all that much.
Yeah, the convertibles had serious leaks down the line, but that's nothing too surprising really.
Don't know about the Turbo I, but the Turbo II does hold its own against GTi Volkswagens and even some later Hondas, plus the fact that they can take quite the amount of boost with stock forged internals and not give a fuck make them a very good grounds to build a cheap, fast car.
