Pretty much. No store updates the past week, and no postings here on /o/. And other anons still never got their orders.

So I found out why my stickers are really nice quality is because the machine and the vinyl the print shop uses are all incredibly expensive.

I will never reach that quality with a laser or inkjet I buy off ebay for less than 4000 dollars, so I think I might have to just go with them. Now that I know their process it should be a lot more streamlined. Their minimum order is 100 so I was hoping to get maybe 5-8 designs to print next and evenly split.

Anyone have an update on those Good Luck Club slaps?

Yeah it's going to be hard to beat a company printing them. If they let you do multiple designs as long as you order 100 then that's not reall a bad deal. It should be pretty easy to sell all 100 of multiple designs if they're all good
There was a guy local for me that was doing no minimum custom printing and cutting with some professional machines. I wish I had gotten in contact with him when he was advertising but he has since stopped doing custom

Consider it a long term goal. There are benefits to having your own machinery that can't be measured in dollars. But even as far as money is concerned, if you raise the price of your sticker by $1 or even $0.50 (only poor NEETS will be against a small increase for the greater good), you could build towards getting your own stuff and once you finally get it, you can run a huge sale to quickly make up some money immediately thereafter. Then go back to the normal price. It'll take a while but eventually you will make your money back and it'll be greater profits from then on.

Plus you will be able to more easily fill custom orders. Which not only opens up your sales options (good for customer satisfaction and revenue potential) but you can charge a premium for them one-off custom orders to help bolster your revenue and make back your initial cost of material costs. Plus you'll be able to get orders completed and shipped even faster, having the stuff in home.

In the meantime, continue to broaden your design options for both slaps and die cuts. And also learn from experience and try to better gauge market interest in slaps (looking at the SO NICE one specifically) so you can maximize your sales with minimal delay.

I think it's fantastic that you're interested in doing things yourself. Doesn't seem worth it to stop just because it's expensive. It's not the kind of thing you make a living off of, but there is real money to be made here. If you can get your own materials, you can greatly increase every aspect of your business for both you and sellers.

Since you found a company doing high quality work, keep with them. Keep that standard and aim to hit it yourself. Relying on a company isn't bad, but doing it yourself is better. Your options open up.

Now that I've understood their production process I think I can streamline it much better. I could understand if you were doing highly customized orders with atypical materials and demanded oversight in the process, but if you're just submitting designs and ordering in bulk, I don't see how they'd up the price just because you were 'frustrating'. The vinyl used is the exact same kind you'd find on commercial vehicle wraps like vans/trucks or for really good itasha. They said it would last 5 years outdoors and I believe them.

My printing friend told me that in the past if there was a job he really didn't want to do he'd give a big price to discourage people from going to him, and I get where he's coming from. He said it's not unusual in the industry, and it already happened when I was ordering. They asked for all artwork to have an 1/8th inch padding space and since it didn't have it they would charge 2 hours labor (160 dollars) and it took me about 10 minutes in photoshop to do that. 300dpi/8=37.5 so I put a 38 pixel white border around everything and they were like "fantastic! this works!"

I can sort of see where they are coming from, but yeah it is crappy. If I can't do something or I'm super busy I just tell someone straight up, I don't try to price hike. For instance I had a guy who wanted me to do stuff for boats, but none of my vinyl was salt water proof. I told him honestly that I probably couldn't do it cheaper than some internet place, but then we struck a deal that if he bought the bulk material, I'd cut the letters for free but keep the excess vinyl. Everyone wins.

I guess some places are just hoping that the person won't bother to research and be like... "ok fine" and pass over some absurd price because they don't want to keep looking.

Graphics is interesting in that it's a hit or miss thing. I've only been in business 3 months and I've had days where I came home with actually a legitimate day's work worth of cash, and others that I've made absolutely 0, and just sat around dicking off on the internet.

Those are understandable reasons. If you cannot fulfill the order that's placed, then as you did, tell them. And if business is heavy and you have no time (or important personal matters take priority) then instead of running them off, let them know there will be a delay of X amount of time. It seems amateur and immature to run someone off or to attempt to get them to pay more by price hiking.

Overall, from my limited and outsider experience, it seems like it's a good side job/money making hobby. Certainly not feasible for a guy or two to make a living off of it.

Nah, it definitely is feasible, the key is market & pricing. If you have a big market you can easily make a living, and pricing it up just sweetens the pot.

Consider that there are numerous sites out there that sell sticker sets smaller than my $4 ones, materials wise, for like $15-$20. Look at badge overlays for Subarus. They use all the same quality vinyl, probably the same amount of square inches of one of my Momiji "awoo" stickers takes up, for literally 5x the price. The price isn't even the point, though. There's a much larger market out there for badge overlays than 2hu wolf girls.

This is true. The larger market is not about anime grills and waifus but rather brand and clique loyalty. If you get into that and find a way to set yourself out from the crowd, I can see the possibilities. I guess it just seems too much like pop music to me. The majority is in it solely for money and has no passion for the same old drivel they sell without effort.

The things I was looking at doing was a non-logo'ed version of the simpson helmet with bow, and the silly bike noises underneath (for those not familiar with moonspeak it's like a "BWOOOOM, BoOOOo!" noise).

Also possibly something along the lines of a stylized version of "only idiots ride motorcycles" speech, but that's probably better as a slap.

However, I can't do just straight up lifts of the logo for legal reasons.

But for other customers if I made the prices in the 8-10 dollar range like I see with a lot of other places then it's definitely a decent income, especially if that's just a side operation of your business. We all knew for years that PayPal freezes funds randomly just because, and this has always been a problem for small business.
Nowadays PayPal not only still does that but then heavily advertises that it could loan you the amount of assets they just froze. This isn't coincidental, this is 100% intentional.

Ok guys, I've put the store live. I've listed most of the stickers as "on sale" to see what kind of demand I'm getting and if I'm going to need to upgrade to a real bigcartel subscription. If I do, I might raise prices by $.25-$.50 or so just to justify the monthly subscription.
