Idea Guys (Come up with Sticker Ideas, /o/ club names, etc.)
Anons with artistic talent willing to make decals for free.
Anons with decal production equipment (Specifically Vinyl Printer Equipment)
The current goal moving forward is to create sticker content and an cover up /o/ with decals
If anyone is interested in the above, send an email to email@example.com or post in this thread!
I don't really have a list, I kind of just make them to order with a few popular ones lying around.
But as of last week my main two stickers were the shima heart pictured in the last thread and a shimapan triangle.
I can do pretty much anything as long as it's not too detailed and I'm not ripping off existing shops.
If someone takes the time and effort to make some OC for us to enjoy whether it's good, bad, or mediocre I think it deserves some recognition at the top of the next /osg/. It's not for the purpose of highlighting or shaming anyone.
that meet me on the touge sticker is shit tier, js
VINbro, you've been saying you like every sticker that has been posted here. I bet you can't buy them all and decorate your whole truck with them. You're not man enough.
I really posted it as a work in progress asking for suggestions on how to make it better. The text was just placeholder for something better.
But it's bad and I understand that so in the future I'll make something better for sure (hopefully)
You're vastly exaggerating how many I've liked. On the contrary, I'm not especially fond of the majority. I do have a bunch ordered though, from a few sellers. Not sure how many will end up on my truck but some surely will. I'm testing quality and service from different sellers.
I'll wait to see who has "rights" to it before I buy. Keep me updated.
>planned on buying the "Another One" DJ Khaled sticker off cardrugs
>already sold out
>I asked for a "SUPERCHARGED" but I never got it.
Sorry I've been lazy.
>Is that a font? I need this font
If you can find somewhere to pirate it let me know.
>I really motherfucking bothers me how on those stickers the first word always fucking sticks out the bottom. Just why? Literally why? It's a very simple fix, and now looks like shit.
That's just how the font is.
Going to bed, anons. Got two background images open in PS, but no ideas. Have fun with them.
Made up a couple of slaps today for myself
Looking for any feedback if youve got it
going to make some more later
If there's any interest i might just make it a thing
I like this one quite a lot
And I like the idea behind these, but there's something wrong with the execution. I think it's the font, and the use of "@" that is upsetting me. It looks a little cluttered and I think they could be simplified. Just my 2 cents.
>I can even read my name
uh well nobody else can.
zoom and enhance I guess.
I really wanted to do that one but whoever does it first I suppose.
>If you can find somewhere to pirate it let me know.
How do you have it?
I agree with you on bike racks
tried to work on what you said
another shot at it
last one though since i like the top/bottom text revision with the normal bikerack font
Yeah u rite.
Last Rev, i really like where it's at
Looking a bit more acceptable but I'm not a middle school bully trying to fight everyone so I wouldn't buy one. Now if you make it a patch and change it to "meet me at the bus stop after work" I might be interested...
>meet me at the bus stop after work
I have some chrome gold (pic related) on its way to me right now so if that's what Weeb wants then I can supply. Otherwise, we've both got the same shiny gold. You've got a shop so if he wants to go that route then it'd be best if you did it.
In other news, I'm going to start making THE BEST powered by super eurobeat sticker as soon as I get the chrome gold in and that one anon fixes the kerning that he was going on about
When will you set up a shop? I am interest in the SEB stickers but after the BSG fiasco I'm not excited to just gift PayPal monies to someone. Not saying you're untrustworthy, just want to get what I pay for (and not end up on a federal watchlist)
Might even get some non /osg/ sales with a shop site. Seems like that shimahunters sticker is popular so I'm sure yours will be too.
Yeah I guess it does doesn't it. Oh well, ill just keep with it unless someone suggests something better or I come up with one.
How do people find bigcartel sites? I've only seen ones that get posted here. I'm not planning on shilling in Reddit and Facebook groups
Are you guys still looking for an internet lawyer?
Will work for free stickers. 2nd year law student, part time paralegal.
So I found out why my stickers are really nice quality is because the machine and the vinyl the print shop uses are all incredibly expensive.
I will never reach that quality with a laser or inkjet I buy off ebay for less than 4000 dollars, so I think I might have to just go with them. Now that I know their process it should be a lot more streamlined. Their minimum order is 100 so I was hoping to get maybe 5-8 designs to print next and evenly split.
also I thought OP was doing it?
>? why so
Transfer tape still has yet to arrive. I'm seriously disappointed right now.
Just put a few new designs up on my site!
I know I'm much more in to the weeb market than the purely /o/ stuff, but I did put up some that might appeal to the more general /osg/ tastes, such as pic related.
As always, suggestions and commissions welcome.
I've also been told that some people in /dbt/ are interested in some bakuon! related stickers. It's something I'm gonna look into.
Yeah it's going to be hard to beat a company printing them. If they let you do multiple designs as long as you order 100 then that's not reall a bad deal. It should be pretty easy to sell all 100 of multiple designs if they're all good
There was a guy local for me that was doing no minimum custom printing and cutting with some professional machines. I wish I had gotten in contact with him when he was advertising but he has since stopped doing custom
Consider it a long term goal. There are benefits to having your own machinery that can't be measured in dollars. But even as far as money is concerned, if you raise the price of your sticker by $1 or even $0.50 (only poor NEETS will be against a small increase for the greater good), you could build towards getting your own stuff and once you finally get it, you can run a huge sale to quickly make up some money immediately thereafter. Then go back to the normal price. It'll take a while but eventually you will make your money back and it'll be greater profits from then on.
Plus you will be able to more easily fill custom orders. Which not only opens up your sales options (good for customer satisfaction and revenue potential) but you can charge a premium for them one-off custom orders to help bolster your revenue and make back your initial cost of material costs. Plus you'll be able to get orders completed and shipped even faster, having the stuff in home.
In the meantime, continue to broaden your design options for both slaps and die cuts. And also learn from experience and try to better gauge market interest in slaps (looking at the SO NICE one specifically) so you can maximize your sales with minimal delay.
I think it's fantastic that you're interested in doing things yourself. Doesn't seem worth it to stop just because it's expensive. It's not the kind of thing you make a living off of, but there is real money to be made here. If you can get your own materials, you can greatly increase every aspect of your business for both you and sellers.
Since you found a company doing high quality work, keep with them. Keep that standard and aim to hit it yourself. Relying on a company isn't bad, but doing it yourself is better. Your options open up.
the equipment used is in the $10,000 range
this is literally not an option.
I don't like them because they seem to take forever to do anything and I have to deal with so many layers of people it's ridiculous. Now that I've understood their production process I think I can streamline it much better. We'll have to see how it is with their next quote, maybe they got frustrated with my order which is why it took so long and the price might be jacked up for the second run. We'll see.
$10,000? Damn I was thinking $K or $6k at most. I guess there really is no comparing to the price of consumer level goods.
They may have quality items, but they sound like a drag to work with. I'm assuming you're looked into other options already. This sticker printing business is no cakewalk, eh?
If they raise the price, that's bullshit. There ought to be a standard price for standard orders. I could understand if you were doing highly customized orders with atypical materials and demanded oversight in the process, but if you're just submitting designs and ordering in bulk, I don't see how they'd up the price just because you were 'frustrating'. They do this as a business - it should be no different to them.
The vinyl used is the exact same kind you'd find on commercial vehicle wraps like vans/trucks or for really good itasha. They said it would last 5 years outdoors and I believe them.
My printing friend told me that in the past if there was a job he really didn't want to do he'd give a big price to discourage people from going to him, and I get where he's coming from. He said it's not unusual in the industry, and it already happened when I was ordering. They asked for all artwork to have an 1/8th inch padding space and since it didn't have it they would charge 2 hours labor (160 dollars) and it took me about 10 minutes in photoshop to do that. 300dpi/8=37.5 so I put a 38 pixel white border around everything and they were like "fantastic! this works!"
>plotters are cheap, it's the ones that print that cost an arm and a leg.
Oh god printing plotters hhhhnnggggg
Someday I want to upgrade my basic mid-tier plotter to one of those super-fancy DC servo ones that do optical contour cutting, and even those don't print.
The one I have comes with optical contour cutting and it was pretty cheap. I've yet to use it but it came bundled with the software for it. I'd like to have one with the fancy new motors but again, cost.
These turned out really good I think
My camera keeps color correcting the bright pink
That reminds me, I made this some time ago. If someone wants, I have the SVG without the text. Also have it in a different red with gray outline.
It was $2, don't remember the size exactly but it was a little bigger than the STi emblem is. Definitely smaller than yours are.
I vectored them back in 2013, actually kind of enjoyed it. I would get a plotter if I had the cash for it.
Car Drugs now asking people to pay to shill for them. Just released a whole mess of "brand stickers" most of which cost as much as a slap or more all prominently featuring the CD name, logos, and/or brandmarks. They've officially hit that stage of business where they believe they've become the product. Maybe they're right.
At least you know the quality of the product is there. You can only do so much about the quality of the service but if the products are good, you can overlook that - to a degree.
2 hours labor to do do that? Fuck, that's even worse than dealerships charging 1 hour labor to change an air filter.
It blows my mind that they'd rather run off a customer (who could potentially become a regular) just because they don't want to do the job. What a shitty business model.
Yeah so I'm learning. I figured this business wasn't cheap, but it's even mores so than I'd imagined. And thinking about the cost of ink for basic inkjet printers, I can only imagine the cost of the inks needed to print on vinyl.
I don't have a paypal business account, so paypal won't let me accept any payment through the site. They're kinda dicks DESU, I have a personal account with them and they've fucked me over a few times with personal finance shit, charging things to accounts that I've explicitly selected to never use, and leaving me hanging with NSF fees.
I know a lot of people want to use paypal but I just loathe the ordeal jumping through all their hoops is going to be.
TL;DR I'm sorry friend, I can't do the paypal right now.
>It blows my mind that they'd rather run off a customer (who could potentially become a regular) just because they don't want to do the job. What a shitty business model.
I can sort of see where they are coming from, but yeah it is crappy. If I can't do something or I'm super busy I just tell someone straight up, I don't try to price hike. For instance I had a guy who wanted me to do stuff for boats, but none of my vinyl was salt water proof. I told him honestly that I probably couldn't do it cheaper than some internet place, but then we struck a deal that if he bought the bulk material, I'd cut the letters for free but keep the excess vinyl. Everyone wins.
I guess some places are just hoping that the person won't bother to research and be like... "ok fine" and pass over some absurd price because they don't want to keep looking.
Graphics is interesting in that it's a hit or miss thing. I've only been in business 3 months and I've had days where I came home with actually a legitimate day's work worth of cash, and others that I've made absolutely 0, and just sat around dicking off on the internet.
ha ha, I had no idea "to be honest" was wordfiltered to desu.
>If I can't do something or I'm super busy
Those are understandable reasons. If you cannot fulfill the order that's placed, then as you did, tell them. And if business is heavy and you have no time (or important personal matters take priority) then instead of running them off, let them know there will be a delay of X amount of time. It seems amateur and immature to run someone off or to attempt to get them to pay more by price hiking.
Overall, from my limited and outsider experience, it seems like it's a good side job/money making hobby. Certainly not feasible for a guy or two to make a living off of it.
>I had no idea "to be honest" was wordfiltered to desu.
Neither did I, to be honest.
>Certainly not feasible for a guy or two to make a living off of it.
Nah, it definitely is feasible, the key is market & pricing. If you have a big market you can easily make a living, and pricing it up just sweetens the pot.
Consider that there are numerous sites out there that sell sticker sets smaller than my $4 ones, materials wise, for like $15-$20. Look at badge overlays for Subarus. They use all the same quality vinyl, probably the same amount of square inches of one of my Momiji "awoo" stickers takes up, for literally 5x the price. The price isn't even the point, though. There's a much larger market out there for badge overlays than 2hu wolf girls.
>smaller than my $4 ones...for like $15-$20
And people pay these prices? I guess it shouldn't surprise me. If that's more common than not, I definitely take back what I said. It seems more than possible to make bank with stickers.
>There's a much larger market out there for badge overlays than 2hu wolf girls.
This is true. The larger market is not about anime grills and waifus but rather brand and clique loyalty. If you get into that and find a way to set yourself out from the crowd, I can see the possibilities. I guess it just seems too much like pop music to me. The majority is in it solely for money and has no passion for the same old drivel they sell without effort.
Would anyone be willing to make this decal? I ordered it from BSG, but we all know how that turned out. It's mainly what I wanted from him anyways.
Guessing that no one can get this slap done up? I managed to wrestle BSG's design from his sites bloody, fucked up fingers.
Tell me if you need any bakuon vectors, I have a few graphics I extracted from the second Moto Linc promotion comic.
This is relevant to my interests!
The things I was looking at doing was a non-logo'ed version of the simpson helmet with bow, and the silly bike noises underneath (for those not familiar with moonspeak it's like a "BWOOOOM, BoOOOo!" noise).
Also possibly something along the lines of a stylized version of "only idiots ride motorcycles" speech, but that's probably better as a slap.
However, I can't do just straight up lifts of the logo for legal reasons.
Well I only have logos so I guess I can't help you much.
I can always bugger the other idiot so he retypesets the "only idiots ride motorcycles" thing since the original version is kinda bland though.
Nobody's gotten orders from him besides the very first ones, and the last time we heard from him was a week or so before christmas that he got in an accident. His christmas update was delayed to new years eve, then that was further delayed to the 9th. No communication from him at all even with people sending chargebacks through paypal.
Any weaboos in this thread?
If I vectorize this logo in Illustrator, what are the chances of anyone printing it?
Should I just email BSG?
I'd love to stick that on my WRX where the STI badge goes.
>Nah, it definitely is feasible, the key is market & pricing.
The prices I'm giving you guys it is not feasible for the scale of operations. But for other customers if I made the prices in the 8-10 dollar range like I see with a lot of other places then it's definitely a decent income, especially if that's just a side operation of your business. Like all businesses though, it takes a lot of time investment and right now I don't have that or feel like going too far into it yet.
I plan on putting some on my truck, but I have a feeling this is what will become of most of the ones I buy.
Not sure how I feel about it though.
I've considered this. But then I remembered that my tower's a small, rhombus shaped window and it wouldn't fit a typical slap.
Do whatever you feel. If your stickers and designs are of reputable quality, then I don't imagine people would be against paying average price.
Oh man, vinbro is a sticker fag? I had no idea
Needs a little cleanup but am I on the right track? Are there other partial screencaps of this for reference sake?
Also what sort of size are we talking about?
No worries anon, I understand. I just don't like getting into the gray area of copyrighted / trademarked series titles when it's not something easily defensible like parody.
That looks pretty good for such short notice. I'll look around for some more frames. I'll try to make something up tomorrow evening myself if the design hasn't taken off by then.
Maybe just the "MA" part of the logo would be a better part to print, to save money and material.
Ok guys, I've created the bigcartel site at yummystickies.bigcartel.com
The site is live but all orders are "coming soon" because I don't want to have orders coming in while I'm asleep tonight. Still want to be able to make changes before orders come in and I get feedback.
Let me know if you see anything that needs to be changed. I'm going to bed now but I'll check up in the morning before work
For Super Kawaii Krew
December 13th order received
N O T H I N G S I N C E
Been spitballing an idea inspired a previous anon's slap idea, no idea what to do with the empty space at the top though.
When you get the chance, you should fix this. The 1 and 2 buttons are in white, but when the pic of the Volvo is on screen, they're not over the picture so you can't see them.
Someone should do a "Fasten seatbelts" sticker similar to what you see in an airplane.
But the burn-in looks like a real airplane sign.
I got about here and got sick of it. Almost better off just typing it out.
I've actually done it.
T-then you do it, senpai.
Fuck, I need some of those.
Yeah, I had to switch to a PayPal business account. It was kind of a pain but I keep their shit on a close leash so they can't fuck me.
Just as a general for you venturing businessmen:
We all knew for years that PayPal freezes funds randomly just because, and this has always been a problem for small business.
Nowadays PayPal not only still does that but then heavily advertises that it could loan you the amount of assets they just froze. This isn't coincidental, this is 100% intentional.
While PayPal is meant to be comfy for the customer (and seeing how credit cards for example are not popular in Europe at all) I can absolutely understand using it, but you should never rely on it as your sole payment option because when they can fuck you over, they will.
Too true. This a viewpoint that too many guys on here seem to make a deliberate attempt to not have.
Ah very nice. Congrats.
I like the logo.
Neat concepts. I especially like the buckle up one.
Since BombSquadUK scammed people I tried to make a re-creation of the Retro WAT sticker from what I remember it looking like when I was high. Sorry it looks super shitty, never done this kinda thing before
What exactly did Bombsquad do? Sorry, I'm a newfag when it comes to /osg/ and I saw some pretty cool stuff on that site.
I started wondering if the whole thing was just a way to get us to buy from the Jew priced sticker shops. Like they make up a fake shop that sells cheap stickers and screws everyone over. I'm definitely more willing to pay the extra money for something that will actually show up now.
Got three sticker orders today.
>one from YummyStickers
Thanks for the bonus ones. What's the fox/wolf from?
>one from that shop that had $0.50 slaps
Sparkly, seems to be decent quantity
>one from WisDOT
way overpriced - $75 for a 1"x2" sticker.
Threw it on today, although if someone could doublecheck the moon for me that'd be appreciated. Not that I dont trust a random guy on the internet, but google says it just reads 'Most'.
Decided to make one with thick outlines and slightly rounded corners. Almost finished.
It's all yours man. Looks pretty good
totally didn't notice that. It's because the image isn't tall enough. I fixed it
It's one of the symbols from the Seven Deadly Sins anime. I did a few of all seven of them
Ok guys, I've put the store live. I've listed most of the stickers as "on sale" to see what kind of demand I'm getting and if I'm going to need to upgrade to a real bigcartel subscription. If I do, I might raise prices by $.25-$.50 or so just to justify the monthly subscription.
But we'll see how this goes. I've never really sold anything on the internet before so it's all a new experience. Trust me, I won't drop off the face of the earth and you should all receive your orders in timely fashions.
Thanks guys, hope you like it
Nope. My insurance is clean. Literally the price to pay to drive a car in Ontario. It wouldve cost over 500 to drive anything 2006 or newer.
Not that i plan to drive anything 2006 or newer
I think integra insurance is just particularly higher because everyone steals them.
Ontario is the worst I believe, and then BC (fuck ICBC). In BC everyone must buy their insurance from the same company. Everywhere else in Canada is not bad, Alberta is pretty good
>go to checkout
>click pay with paypal button
>"sorry, we're not accepting paypal right now. please choose another payment option"
>no other payment options offered
WHY WONT YOU LET ME PAY YOU
I'm cutting them out right now, yesterday I was home for about an hour between work and school.
My transfer tape arrived today so any cuts I've already finished will be shipped out tonight. There's some neat colors I have too, stay tuned.
