For the money, is there any brand new car better than the Fiesta ST?
Standard equipment is good too, just a pity that HID or Bixenons arent standard
>turn your econobox into a tin can
>still slower than pic related
>For the money, is there any brand new car better than the Fiesta ST?
It's not as fun or well equipped that's what. Mazda blew it, they could've stuffed a 3 Skyactiv engine in the 2 and called it a Mazdaspeed2. But they're too busy selling CX3s and CX5s like every Japanese automaker that COULD do it but would rather save showroom space for more profitable crossovers (looking at you Honda)
>paying $35k USD for a FWD car when its out 3 years from now
I put money on VW releasing a even faster FWD GTI out of spite by then. The current Leon Cupra R comes close.
Damn right I am, they should make cars I WANT to buy 5-8 years from now when they're used and almost fully deprecated
(just like everyone else on /o/, watch a ton of people are gonna pick up FRS/BRZs in the next 5 years on /o/)
I certainly thought so, that's why I bought one.
I'm actually really happy that ours is a 5 door, it kind of justifies the car. Having back doors is incredibly useful even when you don't have people in the back seats, for example I usually put my groceries behind the driver's seat instead of having them fly around the hatch area.
If I wanted a car without back doors, I'd get an actual sports car. The thing that's great about the ST is that it takes everything that makes an everyday econobox good and adds fun factor without any real compromises in practicality.
>2015 Honda Fit
>Curb Weight: 2572
>2015 Ford Fiesta
>Curb Weight: 2627
Making the far comparison because the ST is a "performance" option and the Fit doesn't have a Type R. Ford is currently being sued for the auto trans being shit in the regular Fiesta.
Yes, there is a better car
your company would've gone into liquidation you tremendous faggot
fuck i wish ford never bought mazda we could've had based eurofords instead instead of the shitassfuck escort and probe
you mean the one that's based off the explorer?
If you can get a good deal on one that would put it into the price range of the Fiesta, then yeah I would probably go with a GTI.
But I would drive both first as they are all very close in performance (and relatively close in price).
The BRZ has better seats, better seating position, better steering, better resale value, and a better gearbox.
Oh yeah, and it is not FWD
Better seats then the Recaros? lol
I've been considering adding the mechanical LSD from Quaife but paying a shop to crack open my transmission and adding it is almost as unappealing as doing it myself...
Yeah, actually. The 86 seats are some of the best in the market right now. Go check it out, youll be surprised. It helps that you don't have the seating position of a 14k econobox lol
Not him but it's nothing to do with toybarus or fiestas it's more the moron logic used here.
>list of all the bad things of the thing you dislike vs list of all the good things on the thing you like
>"see my favorite thing is da best, other thing likers are cucks xd!"
>if a thing is not perfect in every way it is complete shit
Appart if you live in tne US, for having tested both I think the Peugeot 208 gti is a better choice.
It has more torque available in the low 1500, it feels way faster day to day.
And it is more comfortable, and it handles just as nicely.
The 86 seats are terrible in comparison. Seating position is not that of a true sports car, but then again, it's only a Fiesta. :)
I really like that green.
I've been looking at the Fiesta ST and Focus ST a lot lately. I like the price on the Fiesta obviously but I like everything else about the Focus more. I'd really like to get a newer (or new) car this year since I'm finally in a spot that I can comfortably do so but now I'm finding out just how hard it is to decide on just one car. In the past I've always just taken what I could afford and was available and made the best of it. I'm also looking at 13-14 Mustang GT possibly.
But focusing on the Fiesta and Focus ST's, is there really any advantage to the Fiesta other than cost? And for the price difference, how much gofast can you get for the Fiesta?
mm, honestly Focus ST1's can be had for the same price as a moderately optioned Fiesta ST.
Small car that feels spacious on the inside
Great gas consumption
Less straight line speed
If you invest ~$1,500 in mods you can pretty reliably achieve ~220whp and ~250tq at around 24lbs of boost. Those mods being an accessport, intercooler, catback exhaust, and a pro-tune.
You can also tune with ethanol for a bit of an extra kick.
If you want to put a bit more into the car and go with a big turbo swap, the stock block reliably holds 375whp/375tq, but it's more money and work of course.
A focus ST or a lightly modded fiesta ST would both eat my sn95 GT alive. I have shit roads that are no fun to zip around. Everything is straight so while I can appreciate tossability, it's not too important to me currently, part of why I was looking at the Focus.
On the other hand, as petty as it sounds I feel like if I got the Focus ST I'd just resent not having an RS, the $10k gap be damned.
It's like 255hp at the crank in a Fiesta.
10.6/lbs per HP at that ratio, 9.6lbs per lb/ft of tq at 3500 rpms. That puts it in the range of a Mustang GT/Camaro SS.
Here's a video of one playing with an SRT8:
But it's just a Fiesta. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you want to DD it the FoST can be pretty annoying because it has a wider turning circle than a mustang even though it's so much smaller. It makes a simple U-Turn into a 3 point turn and parallel parking a massive hassle.
Basically you left off the gas to rotate, applying accelerator lessens/stops rotation. So typically you go into a turn hot - no gas -, turn in, car starts to rotate and do a hektik skid m8. A bit of gas pulls it out.
Not by a long shot, probably a fiat 500, but those are very unreliable. Everywhere I look the fiesta st it's absolutely the best for the money, cons it doesn't come completely equipped like Audi or mini, but Toyota comes with even less equipment
can't believe anyone actually bought the automatics
>AC / Heater problems
typical for ford EU
>Interior accessories problems
>exterior accessories problems
A cheaper Golf GTi that's more practical, and looks miles better.
Cheapest performance Golf the GTD starts at around £26k. The Skoda vRS starts at around £24K.
The Golf is only cheaper on PCP deals. Because for some reason VW are throwing them at people on PCP. Christ they have been giving Golf R's away for £200 per month on PCP with sales and promotions.
>The BRZ has better seats
Nope. Front seats are recaro's, back are way more usable than 86's.
>better seating position
>better resale value
Because of ricer tax
Dont know any info bout this
>praying the updated version of this makes it States' side
>The BRZ has better seats
>Nope. Front seats are recaro's, back are way more usable than 86's.
Look, obviously recaro makes good seats, but that doesn't automatically make them better than anything else.
Have you ever driven a gt86 and a fiesta st? The 86 seats are way more comfortable and provide plenty of grip when getting sideways.
>better seating position
Does anyone really like sitting high in a car while driving aggressively?
Again, go drive both and let me know
>better resale value
>because of ricer tax
Or because it's not a turbocharged fiesta?
>dont know any info bout this
I don't even know what that means, but I'm willing to bet that I've owned more cars than you. Cars that I've worked on and drove on a track.
I've driven both cars, and believe me, no one would prefer to sit in a fiesta st when driving aggressively.
I got a fiesta st recently because the gt86 was out of my price range. In the UK there is about $8 k difference for new ones.
The fiesta is a fun little car but it's no where near as cool as the toyobaru
No ones mentioned the torque difference, makes it a much better drive on the street which is 95% of the time. If you track regularly or take great roads then the 86 is the superior choice.
Except the fiestas little turbo runs out of power way too soon. The 86 is fun because you really have to rev it up high to get the most out of the car.
