What's a good base car for Shutokou/Wangan-style racing?

What's a good base car for Shutokou/Wangan-style racing?

It shall perform on the Autobahn, so it doesn't have to turn well, only drive really fast. Good acceleration in the high-speed range also favorable.

Other demands:
-Chargeable thus stable base parts required
-Good default aerodynamics/ not much air-resistance
-Engine-swapable without much effort (if that's how to make it fast instead of just boosting)

It should be as cheap as possible obviously and can be a Jap or European car. I don't like US cars and they're pretty expensive here as well, so none of them.

Also I wonder whether FWD is okay?

My goal is to build a car that can rekts those smug BMW 335 drivers.

Budget?
An older 20V inline-5 turbo powered Audi might be a fun place to start. Those things can go up to pretty insane hp numbers.
>>
>>14212555
Yeah, I know.
It's almost too late to buy them now because they're price already rises.

However it's still too expensive for this purpose and aftermarket parts as well. Porsches are more of a circuit machine anyway, I bet those smug 335 drivers can beat it on the Autobahn easily.
>>
>>14212568
>Porsches are more of a circuit machine anyway

Doesn't discount the fact that a 996 Turbo has a top speed of 190mph and goes 0-60 in 4 seconds. Also, no IMS issues.

>too expensive

Do you have a budget?
>>
>>14212568

not knowing that you can tune the mezger engine to 900-1000 hp easily.

it will eat lambos for breakfast
>>
>>14212559
That's an interesting suggestion. They're heavy as fuck though, I wonder how much it can be stripped.
But the price is pretty good, only problem will be the lack of aftermarket parts.

>>14212560
>Budget?
I don't have one yet, but I'll start the project in 1 year, can save something until then. 30k would be a good figure I think.

>An older 20V inline-5 turbo powered Audi might be a fun place to start.
Which ones did you have in mind? I'm not an Audi-pro so I know shit about them.
Also hp isn't everything.

Foxbody.

No, really, a Foxbody. If your goal is to piss off smug Bimmer drivers, than getting passed by proper sports car won't hurt their ego. But if you can drag some guy into racing you, only to kick their ass in a stock-looking late-80's Mustang with over 500hp under the hood, that will crush their spirit like nothing else.

Unless you are really that much against American cars or the aftermarket is non-existent in Yurop.

How is that?

>>14212602
That sounds pretty perfect. Could be made into a nice sleeper car as well. Which exact one would you personally recommend?
>>
>>14212662
996 Turbos, not talking about GT's.

The prices on them are currently low (but starting to rise, yeah) because Porschefags hate the water-cooled engine and headlights of 996's, and IMS issues of other variants bring the Turbo down with it.
>>
>>14212670
The Coupe is the smallest one, as it's a 2-door version of the 80. They seem to be a bit rarer though, and more sought after since they're a bit more sporty.
The 80 is a small-ish sedan, comparable to the 3-series. Was later replaced by the A4
The 100 is their higher-end sedan, more 5-series size. Nice luxury barges. Was replaced by the A6.
All of them were available with Quattro AWD, too, but again, Quattro versions are rarer and more sought after.
>>
>>14212607
It's not much of a hassle if you can prove that you car remains secure through the mods.

>>14212611
I've never seen a Foxbody driving around here, so it will always look out of place and never stock. The pissing off effect can't be achieved that way.
>>
>>14212531
I don't even like GM but something GM.
Opel Calibra, Omega, 3rd gen Firebird, Saab 9000 Aero.
The Saab is the least slippery of the lot but will still sit at 160mph with very minor mods.

Because none of it has been destructively tested. German TUV approval eliminates any possibility of making your own parts, it's shit, but kinda makes sense on a safety side of things.

There would be no problem with it in the UK however, so long as it passes an IVA test.
>>
>>14212965
You can do whatever you want to any engine, or swap in any engine of the same or newer year, so long as it meets the sniff test standards and retains the evap/air injection systems.

so no modification which increases the performance of a car then? just like i say, enjoy not being able to install fully hectic a blow off valve on a subaru because of your nazi tier laws

so would an enthusiast choose germany, a place where you can go crazy with modifications as long as they arent custom fabbed shit made in a shed by a drunk
or california, where you cant even upgrade your exhaust or install a cold air intake with off the shelf performance parts... mhm...
>>

I really feel bad that would be enthusiasts were unfortunate to end up in places like Germany or Switzerland but trying to say it isn't bad compared to CA laws or even more laughably that spending tons of your money and time to do an extremely limited amount of modification is somehow a good thing is just sad. It is possible to move to the US still if you want to actually have fun with cars (and be able to afford decent cars to begin with), maybe start looking into that rather than justifying the bleak situation for enthusiasts outside the US.
>>
>>14213006

Actually California is more free than most European countries. We just can't perform any engine swaps on cars newer than 1975 without making sure it keeps all original emissions components and came from a newer car that passed California emissions at some point. So a LS1 swap from a 2002 Camaro into a 1994 Miata is legal. But a 1997 Integra GSR engine (B18C1) into a 1999 Honda Civic isn't.

It has a lot to do with cars lasting literally forever there, and why you can still find plenty of obscure 1970s-80s Japanese/European cars running around. They have to come up with shit like CARB to get them off the road.
