Are luxury cars a waste of money?
I'm considering one but my accord has relatively been worry free.
Buy anything with this badge and you should be good.
>Depreciates the least
idk it was the first luxury car to come to mind
Is Lexus seen as a luxury brand? I feel like the Japanese tried to get into luxury but never really were recognized for it.
Your accord is more luxurious
>Is Lexus seen as a luxury brand?
This should probably convince you and give you a little history on lexus as well as how japanese luxury cars are seen in general
I have certainly enjoyed mine
Not if you buy the right ones.
Basically don't go buying an old 944 or something because your wallet will hate you. Research it heavily and it can be an amazing experience for cheap, certainly better than driving some jap shitbox. Don't buy into the Acura or Lexus meme unless you want to drive a Toyota/Honda with a fancy badge on it, the older ones (which I'm assuming you're looking at since you're asking about costs) were a lot less differentiated from the standard econoboxes than they are now.
An E39 is a good example of luxury that can be had for cheap without having to pay shit tons of money for maintenance.
if you get one and budget 5 grand for an aftermarket bumper to bumper warranty that lasts for 4 years and 48k miles, there's basically nothing to worry about within that time.
>one day i'll buy an 05 CL65 amg and do exactly this. one day.
I wouldn't consider more expensive and more maintenance a luxury
Or a poorly made interior that falls apart after a month
Lexus and Acura do it better
Hell even Lincoln and cadilac last longer for less money.
that particular sl65 is famous for having comically high parts costs and really iffy reliability on almost everything. Any large repair will basically cost as much as the car.....because of this, the DIY scene on it isn't very good
Hence, have lots of fun for four years and sell the bitch quick
I finally reached the point in my DIY shit that I had to break over and buy an advanced scan tool, and holy fuck does it make a difference
I sort of had one. I bought a hard drive from china with a chinese clone of the Mercedes STAR dealership software on it, through it in an old Lenovo laptop I got off craigslist, and it worked well enough, but since it was a shitty chinese clone, half the shit was IN chinese, and it could be hit or miss about linking up to shit through the ebay serial adapter
Whats amazing about the MaxiDas system is it fuckign does EVERYTHING. Already bailed 2 friends out of thousand dollar repair bills with this thing
don't think I didn't see you try shit up the other bmw thread
BMW/merc a shit everywhere. Not just in one thread
Not bad at all, and I didn't even pay that for mine. One of the parts reps who for our service dept at work hooked me up with a black friday special on one. Got the whole fucking kit for 600 bucks
>he bought a japanese econobox and now he has to justify his purchase by pretending nicer cars than his are all bad
It's okay, I owned a Camry once too. I understand what you're going through.
Most of them aren't bad. The higher end japanese ones like Z's are nice. It's just the econoboxes that suck balls. And the higher end japanese cars are just as temperamental as german cars, if not more so.
Basically your options when it comes to cars are slow POS that you can be a total nigger to and never change the oil or fast car that you need to take an hour or two out of every month and make sure everything's in proper condition.
BMW interior sucks ass. Same with Mercedes.
I owned a detail shop. Eventually stopped cleaning them because they would fall apart or split seams on the leather or paint (cheap ass mother fuckers) would fall off the center console.
Corolla interior is objectively better.
Engine power does not make luxury. Smoothness does
>Same with Mercedes.
My 15 year old E Class begs to differ
My 15 year old ML also disagrees with you
totally falling apart, right?
If you want I can go take a picture of my Camry too and show you everything that's falling apart. Cherry picking is exactly what you're doing, I can tell you having owned both that the BMW and Camry can't even be compared when it comes to quality.
If fake wood is all you got then I am disappointed anon
And if by cherry picking you mean posting pictures of the two 15 year old Mercedes I actually own, then sure
Here, have a picture of my 10 year old, 170,000 mile mercedes and it's devastated interior
And the interior my 323,000 mile 27 year old corolla is in great shape too.
So why would I pay for fake leather, fake wood, spray painted center console and poor build quality (such luxury) when I could spend a couple bucks to sound deaden my corolla?
Whenever i see a luxury car i just cant help but thinking of all the useless shit in that car that will eventually stop working and cost a small fortune to fix. In essence, you really only need a handful of amenities to make for a comfortable ride. Hell, I drove a kia forte last week that had enough amenenities to keep myself pleased on the ride home. not sure what good a 6.3 biturbo engine would help me with when im going to the countryside for my wine and crackers.
Just kidding, I misplaced the keys because I never drive this piece of shit and it's late so I don't want to go rummaging around the house looking for them. Here's some low quality pictures from the outside of the car.
The front seat in all its glory. The spring underneath the seat is also completely fucked so you basically fall into the floor when sitting.
Here's what the steering wheel looks like.
The black bits are sticky. I have no idea what this steering wheel is made of but it's awful.
Sorry for the orientation of the photos.
sorry to disappoint, but not my email.
>not having airscarf and heated seat to keep your ass and neck toasty warm for those fall days when you want to enjoy some top down motoring
I couldn't get a good shot of the radio but every button is either loose or not attached to it anymore.
The parking brake is so retardedly designed that there has to be 17 years of random shit down there. There's no boot over it so literally everything just falls through. Pic related.
