Why arent we shitposting about this?
>>14192794
idk
>v8 swap ND
what's there to shitpost about? sounds awesome
all i'm concerned about is weight distribution
>>14192794
Making slow cars fast is gud.
>>14192794
Looks like it's smiling from that angle
"im gonna fuck you up senpai"
everyone knows american ruin everything so theres no reason to shitpost
>they felt for the LS maymay
>>14192934
>sounds awesome
I want this meme to stop
Putting a v8 into a miata is so fucking stupid
It's like modifying a land barge to be a performance car. You're just screaming "I'm tasteless"
Fuck this OP 10/10 made me racist
>>14193792
>not making a modern day cobra
>>14193792
>racist
Do you even English?
>>14193792
if it doesn't impact the weight distribution and overall weight much (maybe an extra 100 pounds), what's the problem?
a guy wanting a fast mieta?
>>14193770
as much as everyone rags on the ls about how unoriginal and outdated the Ls is, it still makes fuckloads of power for pennies and its stupid simple.
>>14193792
you're fucking stupid
>>14193828
Rotary is better
>>14193792
yeah
anyone who LS swaps instantly loses my respect as a car guy
they dont even deserve the title
>>14193801
I've been saying for a while that Ford should get back in bed with Mazda, drop a V8 in a facelifted ND, and sell it as the Cobra.
>>14193860
why?
car guys want more power
i dont see ur gay ass complaining about 2JZ swaps.
>>14193837
>a ford 302 with aluminium heads is lighter (despite iron block)
>cheaper
>simpler to swap because carb and distributor
>can actually be had for less than $500 from a truck
>>14193860
>I define what a car guy is
there's one in all of these threads that think their opinions matter to anyone who's actually working on their car as opposed to riding the bus. Probably drives a diesel golf to car meets and talks shit about what everyone else drives
>>14193875
those are boring too
those swaps are for people who dont like cars and just want to go fast
>>14193887
>don't like cars
>>14193870
they should have done that since the NA, and convince mazda of selling the coupe miata worldwide with a 5.0 labeled as daytona coupe
fucking ford was so retarded in the early 90's
>>14192794
Oh shit did FM finally do it? I've been checking their site every couple of weeks but I still don't see anything.
>>14193902
According to 90's Ford the sports car was dead. The Mustang was supposed to end production in 95 and the Probe would be their only sporty offering.
>>14192934
>weight distribution
From the stats I've seen, both the weigh change and distribution are minimal. I think TomsTurboGarage of autism had like 1% weight increase to the front and gained >200lb over his MSM, for a 180% increase in power.
>>14194224
excellent
did they need to do much to the rest of the drivetrain to handle to extra power?
>>14193876
Also looks and sounds better and is dimensionally smaller.
>>14193876
You know everyone here would be pissing and moaning about "le outdated technology" and "boat anchor" were that actually the case. Including you.
>>14194224
he didn't swap a ND though
>>14194269
well the voodoo 5.2 exist desu
that one is god tier
Because I have no respect for the ND miata I honestly don't care.
And LS swaps happen to every single car, its one of the Ten Commandments.
>>14193792
>Can't afford LS Swap
>Get Mad
>>14194273
No, but I'm saying is that historically, both the weight distribution and actual weight changes have been waaaay better than people expect it to be.
>>14194256
For the record, that pic is just a mock up, I was talking about builds I've read about in previous gens. But all of them basically have an entirely new transmission. FM usually runs a Tremec T-56 and a CTS-V diff, which actually helps a lot with the weight distribution.
>>14194277
Now we're talkin'. If some cockbag has the money to throw at a new car and shop to stick an LS in, dude can just lay off the blow for another weekend and do something cool with one of those little screamers.
>>14194292
>doesnt care for the only true sports car in the market today
>>14194299
>historically
>comparing a completely different car with the same name
>>14194306
Yes I'm extrapolating. But not even FM knows the numbers yet, and the ND has a very similar weight to the NA.
>>14194292
god damnit nothing is safe
>>14194313
>and the ND has a very similar weight to the NA.
its like 150-100 lbs lighter
a v8 will fuck the distro more on an ND, but some fiberglass panels will fix it
>>14194313
>therefore the ND's drivetrain weighs the same as the NA's
okay
>>14192953
Now it's slower in every way except for a straight line.
>>14194318
Somebody actually sank money into a Nash? Really?
imma get a NA and throw in a bmw s85 somehow....might need to extend the front end a little
hope dohc doesn't make it touch the wheel wells
>>14194364
Some dude did a v12 swap. If I win that 700mil powerball, I'd buy an NA and graft a veyron w16 into it. Best boat anchor ever.
>ITT
Benchers benching the thread
No reason to be mad that a cheap engine makes power for the price of your car
>>14194376
which v12?
>>14194364
You're gonna have some fab work to do.
ls swaps are unoriginal and for lazy americans who dont really care about cars, they just want some novelty tier fast car to shred tires in at the strip a few times a year
>muh power!
turbos exist. other engines exist. ls swap is a meme.
If money were no object, I would like to find a wrecked BMW M3 and take the inline 6 out of it, the trans, and as much of the suspension as could use and fab it into this car.
But alas, money matters.
>>14193792
It isn't stupid. It's pragmatic and an economical way to gain significant power that's still reliable. While you want to get on your elitist high horse at the keyboard some people want to build a car that's really going to be a blast, still gets mid 20s fuel economy or better and parts will still be available same day at your local parts store.
>>14193842
Less potential, less reliable needs to be boosted for big power which is ok but there are better motors out there for doing that.
>>14194399
>buy caterham chassis, or another kit car with similar proportions
>install inline 6
>drop the panles over it
it prob wont fit perfectly, but thats much easier people do it with nascars
>>14193876
What you just described will cost significantly more than $500. Once you get aftermarket aluminum heads, 4bbl manifold, a 4bbl car, an aftermarket distributor since you wont be able to use the TFI distributor anymore you're going to be at least a couple grand. Plus it would be a shame to do all this top end stuff and leave the tired short block alone.
It's still a cheap option that should definitely be considered but not as cheap if you really want what you describe.
>>14192802
>"Hey Jamal stop taking pictures in front of my car and get back to washing my other cars"
>>14194483
you see reman windors for sale on craigslist for a grand
assuming they're actually done right
>>14194510
yeah, you can. They're not going to have any sort of aluminum heads on them and I doubt the'll even have the manifold attached as that can be vehicle specific.
You can do a 302 swap on the cheap but what
>>14193876
was thinking of is going to cost some money.
>>14192794
Shit car + Shit engine, nothing of value, etc. etc. why would we care it's not interesting.
>>14194444
>tfw no nascarlo
not even your quad 4s can cheer me up
>>14194335
That metropolitan was probably worth more before it was swapped.
>>14194364
Flare those fenders and make that car wide as fuk
>>14193876
...yet the 302 will not make as much power as an LS given the same amount of money invested.
>>14193870
How in the hell are they going to fit a Modular V8 into a Miata? That thing almost takes up BBF real estate.
>>14193842
Rotary swapping a Miata is pointsless - why not get an RX-7 instead?
>>14193870
Fiat should nick a couple 5.7 hemi's and put them into the Abarth Fiata. Too bad they still haven't made the third gen Hemi an aluminium block design. Pic fucking related.
>>14196522
Different strokes for different folks. A streetported N/A 13b will make around 200ish hp and will rev to the moon - it's quite well suited to the Miata.
>>14194303
>Voodoo V8
>''little screamer''
No. No. Nononono. No. Pic related - a Ford DOHC V8 would never fit. Biggest I know of that'll fit is either a GM/Chrysler small block OHV V8, or a Lexus 4.0 DOHC (which is way smaller iirc).
Car of the year every year.
>>14194364
don't drive it off the road when you do
