Why don't you ride a stretched busa /dbt/
Yup, Anza-Borrego desert state park
>not riding a stretched grom
looks like fun, how long were you out?
This is the Trans Am Trail overlayed on our /dbt/ map. I'm planning on stopping and meeting you h/o/mos on my trip. So far I'm planning on meeting WranglerSport, Trolly and KKK. If you're going to be within an hour or so of the northern legs or the middle route and wanna meet up and ride let me know.
Just a couple days, I'm going again this weekend it'll be awesome. The weather is perfect as of late
We're planning on shipping our supermoto wheels to our friend in Portland and taking Highway 1 down to our final destination in San Francisco. I'm going to look into the PCT though before we finalize that.
when i got off to get gas i leaned as i shifted my wieght to my other foot, while standing, and leaned my calf right onto my hot fucking muffler
it was touching for a good 2/3 of a second and it burned bad enough for a couple small blisters to form
also it had only been running long enough to get from my house to the gas station 1 mile away
hey just swing up to detroit for a good minute so we can ride, buddy
Spam your helmets
I'm thinking about a Shoei next because "brand" what are some nice helmets?
pic related > baggers
We need more of pic related.
Thank you for your valuable opinion anon
I get it
>Dem salt n pepper shakers
Muh beater helmet for when I wanna feel poor n look rugged
man /dbt/ has gotta be the fastest general on 4chan outside of certain /vg/ threads
You guys know you wanna post bells
>How do I talk to girls with bikes?
girls with bikes are whores, they probably sucked and fucked every squid on those group rides.
Noice. I miss Washington. Actually put in for a job in Tacoma today kek
we should go riding some time, you ride in tanum at all?
Tacoma is shit. stay away.
That's true, but I wouldn't live there. Probably live in Yelm again.
yeah if you like living next to meth heads
I lived there for 3 years and very much enjoyed it. Better than living in the city
>yeah if you like living next to meth heads
Some of them are alright
Ask a guy with a fake disc installed anything. Pic related.
FYI Those two parts are supposed to be parallel but the top part slipped forward.
Here is what they hammered into place after using a chisel to create a notch.
Yeah, it is torture. I've been reduced to tears a few times.
Last pic. It's basically a ball in a socket design.
Mfw surgeon said I could ride in 6 months.
I was afraid I'd never be able to ride again so I can be patient and wait until June.
Bottom is my cafe crapper I built last year
Top is the 03 I picked up today for $1300
Can't wait to build a chopper these next few months, so much more relaxing than the cafe
Okay, Mr. Professional Bike transporter. I'm about to buy my first bike, but it's 3 hours away. How do I strap it down in the bed of my truck so that nothing bad happens to it or the bed?
Exactly like pictured, two ratchet straps up front, each going to it's own side, and one in the rear to keep it from bouncing. The GS450 I bought 7 hours away and the Harley was about 5, my friend has also driven from VA to OK like this in a truck bed. I have cleats in all 4 corners, but you can use the top holes or anything else, just make sure to compress the shit out of the front suspension so it doesn't move in the bed, that way it wont move left or right.
Jesus Christ all these replies
But thanks much fellas, I realized this was a genuine concern when my buddy bought a bike and it fell over in his truck bed and got fucked up making a turn because he didn't strap it down properly.
So, while we're at it, I'm buying an 01 GS500 with 10k miles, recently cleaned carbs, new tires, and a new battery for $1500. How badly did I fuck up/How well did I do?
Go shoei, they make great, comfortable helmets with nice features. I love my rf1100
I just got my learners license this week and I'm looking to buy my first LAM bike. I'll be using it to commute to work and simple errands with some time on the highway. I've looked around and I my heart set on the Kawasaki z300. Would you recommend it?
I should point out that I'm not a confident rider and still need practice.
>compress the forks most of the way
You really don't need to compress them "most of the way"
2be honest the ninja 650 is a parallel twin so not that super sport. You can check on cycle-ergo.com how you'd fit and how the seating position would actually be.
I have sat one in store and it felt a big big for me. I'm a girl and I'm only 5.7 and weigh 55 kilo. i could only touch the ground with my tippy toes and I can see myself having trouble holding it up. How would the Z300 go on the highway?
Eh, I always do because my truck bed is bare painted metal (no bedliner) and its usually winter when I buy a new bike, which means the tires are cold as hell and there's some leftover snow in my bed.
With your size it'd go well enough, if where you live is commonly windy, you'll get pushed around a bit, it's not really a bad thing if your on the highway for a short distance, but it gets really old really fast.
I'm 260lbs and ride a 250 from 2005, highway speeds are easy albeit loud and kinda annoying.
> I'm a girl
Oh boy here we go pls b my gf etc
Anyways, doesn't LAMS restrict you to 80 km h or some shit anyways? Or is that only in parts of straya that way?
I think it should handle highway speeds ok, but well don't expect too much.
>I'm a grill
Stopped reading at that
Looking to buy a supermoto within the next month.. I am pretty set on either a WR450, a YZ450, or a KX450, but may be willing to go with a DRZ400..
I will mainly be doing singletrack on the weekends with a couple buddies at Capital Forest (Live in Olympia, Washington), and occasionally (maybe once or twice a week) to work which is 30 miles of freeway..
Not sure if the miles/hours racked up, or the freeway miles would be too harsh for a YZ or KX? I would be gearing whichever bike I go with appropriately, getting all the lights etc, with a small battery(unless suggested otherwise).
>wr450, yz/kx 450 converted sumo (possibly drz)
>maybe 60-120 miles a week of freeway
Is the yz/kx maintenance intervals really that bad?
Well the KX and YZ are pure race bikes, sp o guess that the intervals will be shorter. And they also won't be street legal since no lights and shit.
If you want a supermoto that is a pure race bike but still has lights you could look for a SXV 550
Yea, they wont have the lights etc, but whichever way I go, I need to buy the lights anyhow, just if I were to go WR (or maybe drz), I wont have to buy the head or taillights, which I planned to replace anyways since theyre kinda ugly
Just checked, and there doesnt seem to be any of the SXV's available in my area anyhow
If you wanna build it go with the WR (dunno how much of a PITA plating is in WA, might not be worth it), if you wanna buy it, get a DRZ.
DRZ is pigfat compared to a traditional supermoto, but it's fully competent offroad unless you're doing really gnarly shit.
But you also would have to do the wiring and stuff to prepare the mx bikes for use with lights while the wr and drz will have the light already wired and (if not even having a street legal kit thing already installed) also the preparations for indicators and such.
Also, if you like to tinker, go DRZ, the aftermarket is insane.
If you're planning on having two sets of wheels, supermoto and dirt, buying a DRZ400SM is going to be cheaper than buying an S/E and then wheels. Also the SM has much better suspension, at the cost of tamer cams.
For plating any bike (mx or anything) they require headlight, taillight, turn signals (front/rear) and DOT tires
The pigfat is the main reason I was worried, I wasnt sure how bad it was.. Didn't want it to be too much of a hindrance for riding with my buddies in the trails (one has a cr450, the other a 250). Also I do wanna be irresponsible and have the ability of power willie dillies, which ive read drz you pretty much HAVE to clutch willy.. truth?
The wiring I'm not too worried about, I found a pretty self contained way to go about it using a small battery, where I wont have to rap into the stator necessarily
I do like to tinker a good bit, the DRZ looked like a dream until people kept saying it was extra heavy in comparison to everything else available.. Whichever bike I go with I will have 2 sets of wheels regardless.. may look some more into the drz then
>ive read drz you pretty much HAVE to clutch willy.. truth?
I can power wheelie in first on dirt with my knobbies or on pavement with my street wheels, with 15/39 heightened highway gearing and a big aftermarket tank up front. On the street, I can power wheelie in second with my current 15/44 gearing (still fine for highway, but it worried me on 800 mile highway road trip).
>people kept saying it was extra heavy in comparison to everything else available
Yeah it's heavy compared to dirt bikes, but that helps on the street and 320lbs wet is still not that heavy.
The DRZ is one of the best "do everything go everywhere" motorcycles you can own. If it had a 6th gear and EFI I'd say it was the best motorcycle period (on that note, pick up a KTM 690 if you can find one - that's the best motorcycle you can own).
I live in Australia, South of Sydney. This will be my first bike but I'm having trouble choosing. Also, girl power! We actually having a all female motorcycle club here I've been invited to join.
>We actually having a all female motorcycle club here I've been invited to join.
Thanks for the help bud, im going to look a lot more into the DRZ then..
As far as the KTM, im COMPLETELY unfamiliar with anything KTM. The 690, can it be used for singletrack trails reliably? How about dirt tires, can they be added into it? Wasn't sure if it was possible to remove the fender on the front and back?
roflmao may as well be poodles
What are the most roadable 250 dual sports?
I'm planning a trip down to South America this year, and I really would like to do it on a 250 since I have a travel-light philosophy and would like the option of doing trails.
I know the Kawa Super Sherpa is a good choice - smooth engine, low seat, 6-speed - but it's also really rare (having trouble finding one nearby). What other small dual sports lean more toward the on-road side of things, or can be made that way with minimal mods?
thanks guise you always get me
>wanting to be a woman
that's shit anyways since they all gon get raped here soon anyways lel
I wish I could photoshop that well.
Hypermotard son, get your models straight.
Also I accidentally melted a heated jacket allllll over my front header pipe the other day. Mealted right through the jacket and my pipe is coated in smelly goo now.
How do I get it off? Get it hella hot and scrub? I don't even know.
If you are one of three people from /o/ I've met then you have no room to talk l o l
Its been offroad, clutch survived fine. The tolerances are so tight it would be hard for rocks or anything to get anywhere bad. Dirt/dust is made by the clutch naturally so that didn't seem to bother it much either. As long as I don't purposely fill my clutch with shit I think I will be okay. I've already got a new set of plates sitting at home, waiting for me to install them.
No, stock clutch still. I'm only at 11.5k miles. It is due for replacing here in a few thousand but I don't see a need to until it slips or otherwise loses function. I mainly bought the new kit because of the squeal my clutch sometimes made, only to learn that is completely normal with a dry clutch that is warm or slipped a lot within a short time.
I had the displeasure of breaking in a new clutch on my previous bike, and am not looking forward to doing so on a dry clutch system, however the torque will make slipping even more unnecessary than it currently is.
Removing frame stickers tomorrow. Swingarm sticker too. It's time to lose those silver eyesores.
fuck you google how am i meant to know what a tree looks like shit
Shouldn't you just throw the bike away if you want to remove eyesores?
Nah man, those are literally unsolvable. The hollow letter black and white words are IMPOSSIBLE. I'll take five tries to get some pictures right.
time to blaze it
I only get numbers lel
must be an american thing.
So that I can have an imaginary bike like you?
The next step is,
Crashing your bike... with no survivors!
>he could have stopped the girl from killing herself but he didn't
A close call at 200kmh is the best way to shit your pants
Are you saying its his fault he almost got hit by an over taking car because he was speeding?
So a car being in the opposing lane had nothing to do with it? it was just speed right?
by the time the bike got to the car the car was ready to move back over. if the bike wasnt going twice the speed limit it wouldnt have been a problem. overtaking is legal, going that fast isnt :^)
is it just me or does the sticker thread make the faggiest stickers? are there no chads there like in dbt?
The KTM 690 SMC from 08-09 (not the ugly SMR) is the same chassis s the 690 Duke, and the 690 Enduro. If you get a set if 690 Enduro wheels, you have the dirtbike version, essentially. It weighs a couple lbs less than the DRZ and makes literally double the power. Six speed and fuel injection too.
yeah fuck these weaboo trash they don't even fuck a girl every hour and take drugs and party lmao
I am not a chad, but I am fairly normie tbqh
i fucking hate you faggot and i hope you die, cuck.
If you've ever talked to a girl GET OUT REE
>yfw I might not be here
>yfw I am spending the majority of summer in london
>yfw yf is a motorcycle
that goat tho
definitely going to be in london unless I fuck something up in the next 6 months. let me know if you need any cool places to go or good tooj to hit up when in oregon or california though.
It was safe, the biker was doing much over twice the speed limit.
Car would have seen bike in the distance and assumed he was going the limit and knew he had enough time but the biker was at mach1 so it got to him much faster than expected.
>I am spending the majority of summer in london
fuck off cunt, we dont need more fucking immigrants, also pls post your location cunt, so i can bash you fucking head in you cunt. My post code is w8 and im near the a3220 if you ever want to get beat up, poofta.
I am not emigrating anywhere m8, and no clue, but I think near the city university of london. I do plan on visiting a lot of yurop, hopefully showing WR how not to be a complete autismo with a beer or two.
>hwy 1 down to SF
it's a fucking fun drive, but split it into two days. I did about 17 hours in one day on that drive and I only got like 650 miles in or so. it is intense. great views though.
also oregon has cheaper gas even with attendants, and you don't have to pay sales tax on anything.
nice. who are you going with? and really try to take in the redwood forest up by the norcal border when you are on 101, it is breathtaking.
>mfw 30gb of footage from this trip that I have done nothing with
fuck I need to just pay someone to make a movie out of it or something, I saw some cool fucking shit.
My two roommates and I. I'll be on the DRZ and they each have KLX650's. Gunna stop and meet as many advrider and /dbt/ people as possible, though not many of you guys are near the trail.
also one thing I noticed while riding on the trip, when I rested for the night after hours on the tooj, all I wanted to do was watch TOTW2 and figure out what I needed to work on for the next day. keep it on a laptop or tablet, it wouldn't hurt.
>getting paid to spend summer in europe
>easy access to amsterdam, ibiza, prague, germany, barcelona
sounds good to me.
even if I did, you are saying being gay is a bad thing.
>and ladies love a sharp dressed man
>climbed a mountain at zion ntl park in these bad boys
Tfw no monstrous torque keeping the front wheel away from the ground
Going to storm later tonight. Need to go out for a few hours to a place about 5-10 minutes away.
>Enjoy trip there
>Risk getting caught in huge winds and raging rainfall coming back
>Risk blatant homosexuality from lack of bike presence
havent drove in about 2 weeks and my front tire is somehow locked up, like that shit isnt budging i can barely get it to fucking move since dragging a 280kilo bike isnt the greatest thing in the world, what the fuck do i do
I'm gonna go ride in the snow in shorts today
There's like an inch of snow but it's supposed to be 4 C tomorrow. The snow won't melt for me to be able to ride on Saturday will it?
Welcome aboard, you are one of the fagots now.
are there really people who can't parallel park in this thread?
1. line the rear of your car up with the rear of the car you're parking behind
2. look 45 degrees to the left (right if you're amriki) and find something to focus on
3. reverse and immediately turn the wheel until that object you're focusing on is in line with the centre of your steering wheel
4. reverse in a straight line until your left (or right if you're amriki) mirror occludes the parked car's right (left if you're amriki) brake light
5. after your mirror passes the brake light steer your car back to be parallel with the road
if you did it right you've parallel parked
if you haven't just try again
It's fucking wet I tell you what
Are handguards good protection against the elements while road tripping?
Heated grips are ok for the palms, but don't work so well for fingertips when you're gearing/braking through twisties.
> carbon effect
They protect well against wind and rain I would surmise. I'd put them on my bike but they would look stupid and I don't ride in the cold. Although I want to once I can afford cold weather gear
I can finally ride again. Maybe I'll be able to hit 60mph with this clean oil.
the work good, i can use my mx gloves down to about 45f comfortably with just the guards on
whats winter got to do with anything?
>tfw go for a ride after changing oil
>see thick blue smoke pouring out of the back of the bike as I'm riding off down the road
>"oh shit, what the fuck did I do"
>eventually realise it's just ACF-50 burning off
It's fucking chilly out there though. Badly need some heated grips.
