I haven't driven either and I doubt I ever will, but sure, Ford did an impressive job with the GT350R.
Still though, the GT3 and especially the Turbo (S) are extremely impressive since they're still useable as a DD but can lay down some ridiculous performance numbers.
Price in the US is definitely in favor of the Ford though.

I don't think VW would appreciate it if they were to try to sneak into Golf-territory.
They're fundamentally different car companies, pretty much anyone who can afford a car, can afford a Ford, but not everyone can afford a Porsche.
Still though, I like what Ford is doing in the affordable performance market.
