I drive stick and I get the wiggle, I even do it. But it's used sparingly when appropriate. Really when you go to start the car and make sure it's out of gear. Even then it's not needed.
Anyone know why we (stick drivers) do it?

The wiggle is only used when starting the car (no neutral safety switch). And when I'm not paying attention to shifting(it comes naturally nos) and im rolling up to a red light and i just give it 1 wiggle back and forth thats it, and this is only when i forget if i put the car in neutral or not which happens very rarely, plus everything i do check it IS in neutral but its better safe than sorry.
