Draggin the super shitbox Grand Am out for it's 3rd enduro tomorrow
I am half way to Myrtle Beach drinking a beer at a hotel with my girl. We're in a rental car it's a fucking Chevy Cruze and is like a numb egg but the digital cruise control is pretty neat. The Fiesta we rented last year was livelier though. This Cruze actually shuts the engine off when you stop and starts it up again when you take your foot off the brake what the fuck.
I got a ticket today from these small town cops today because she was hungry before we got to the hotel. I pull off the highway onto this two lane rural route, right? So the turn onto the route becomes its own third lane for like a mile then becomes an offramp. I see two cops with their lights on behind one guy and as I drive by them my initial thought is "wonder what he did to get his car searched" until the rear cop takes off after me with his lights still on, gets in my tail and chirps his siren so I pull over and it turns out falling to move over for lights is a primary offense in Virginia, even if you're basically on a ramp going a very different speed from the primary lane. So as he's writing me a fucking hundred dollar ticket for this very serious offense, his partner zooms by us and pulls over ANOTHER guy for not getting over for us. It's a fucking trap. They work in pairs and leapfrog over one another all fucking day. How about that shit?
What are some good used small trucks /o?
doesnt matter at all
just get one owned by a boomer or someone whos not a teen.
at least it will be maintained. they ALL can be reliable if they were treated well
>>17272957
>trusting a boomer
>>17272938
Anything American from the 90s should be okay as far as repairs and reliability go. Volkswagen Rabbit trucks can be fun if you can find them though.

Went to a used car dealership to look at a car I liked.
One problem I noticed off the bat is that it has been on the lot since November or so (It's a $37,000 2012 Shelby GT500, so I'm sure those don't go too quickly, but 7-8 months? Seems a little much. Would you consider this a red flag?
Additionally, the power windows (driver and passanger) make a screeching noise and have resistance when going up or down. They claimed it was because they recently took tint off the windows. Could this be true?
Tell them you'll give them 30k plus tip
>Not any faster than a V6 camaro
>>17272877
Cars like usually sit for a awhile. If it's a small dealership they can afford to let it sit on the lot for a year or two. Big dealerships may just give up and auction it because it's taking up valuable lot space.
Would you put cheap gasoline in your car?
I only use Exxon since it's the cheapest in town, plenti rewards points and is top tier.
>>17272504
I WANT TO STEP ON THE GAS
Cheapest I go is Arco.
>self-driving proponents think all problems will be solved when self-drivers take over and manually driven cars are illegal
>a sensor breaks down and the car can't drive itself for a month, and your choices are pay $300 for a sensor and wait a week to have it put in for an ass fuck's worth of money or wait a month and pay an ass fuck's worth of money to have it put in
The only good part about self-driving cars is that so many people are going to be rekt when they realize that they're being rused into adding another expensive point of failure into their vehicles.
>people laying down on the roads for self-driving cars going 150mph to kill them
>your car is used for at least one suicide a year
What a bright future
Half of the self-driving tards also advocate for the elimination of personal vehicle ownership.

How long do you think until the petrol engine is phased out by electric? It's only a matter of time because everyone seems to be sucking Elon's left nut over these electric engines
>>17269353
Just because he's getting sucked off doesn't mean that the company is going to enter the mainstream market any time soon. Or that other people are going to start phasing out everything for electric overnight.
Bolt is a good step forward, but it's not going to happen overnight.
>>17269353
Probably another 100 -150 years.
Why does the Toyota Prius trigger Americans so much?
>Car of the Year Japan Award
>Efficient
>Economical
>Environmentally conscious
What's the catch?
Like BMW - the owners are dickheads
Nothing really, its a boring as fuck Eco friendly commuter for normies.

How can toyota even compete?
Has anybody here done their own tint job? Was it difficult?
My tint is scratched and starting to bubble in a number of places. I'm no stranger to getting the tint off, but I'm worried that if I do the application myself I would fuck it up.
Tips or stories would be great
>>17268006
It's not hard, but can be tricky.
I put 8 mil thick security film on my windows and it was a bitch because it was so stiff. Regular tint is much easier I would imagine.
Tips: mix up your own slip liquid and use lots of it everywhere and don't bother trying to tint shit outside. And watch some guides on youtube. they're pretty good.
>>17268042
I've watched a few guides. Not too concerned about the top 99% of the side windows, but I am concerned about getting that last mil under the weather stripping (that rubber blade that fills the void at the bottom of the window)
I'll probably be using 3M CR40 or similar so it'll definately be way thinner.
Luckily I've just started renting a place with a double garage so I'll have somewhere to do it at least.
>>17268061
To get under the weatherstrip you just blast everything with the soapy water and slip the tint under it after it's semi stuck down. And using a reasonably thin tint film makes this easier to do.
Another tip is to be very careful to not crease the tinting. Thats about the only way to fully fuck it up and have to start over.
Trump promises to curb German car imports and impose huge taxes on all imports. What will this mean for cars in America, /o/?

I can smell another monopoly coming, chicken tax 2.0?
This was painted with harbor freight paint guns, harbor freight sander, water traps on air compressor are from harbor freight. Still shocked it came out this good.
Did you paint the door jams?
Do you have experience?
If I can paint my car on the cheap without it looking like trash I'll do it.

>>17255258
there's no way you got an 80s civic that clean for $750
>>17255272
it's this clean after putting 40+ hours into washing, cutting, polishing, waxing, and buffing the paint, and then cleaning the vinyl trim and treating it with trim gel.
Plus I bought it non-running, and did a whole carb rebuild on it.
