Talk me out of buying a Spec Miata race car.
>inb4: cosmetology school jokes
Do you plan on racing it?
Do you have the income to afford it?
How do you plan on getting it to the track?
Sounds like fun, anon. Do it if you can afford to race it.

Do you plan on racing it?
Yes. I race win SVRA and SCCA with another car now.
Do you have the income to afford it?
Oh yeah..
How do you plan on getting it to the track?
In the F150 truck & 18X8 enclosed trailer trailer in my driverway
Redline me on Toyota Land Cruisers

Fuck off queer
Hi /o/
Redpill me on the m6 v10
Will i dump all of my money into maintaining it? Should I just suck it up for that sound? Are there any noticeable differences between year models?
Yeah buy it
no real differences
only real problem with them is the throttle actuators which like to eat shit. SMG ones are kinda slow, manual is a lot nicer
>>17335152
>Redpill me on the m6 v10
you must've missed the memo but on /o/ we don't say "redpill me on X"
We say "redline me on Y"

All that happened to it is someone ate a shotgun in it....
Only the first 30 minutes or so of cleaning up gore is hard, you get used to it pretty fast and then it's just another task to complete.
Patch the hole in the roof, clean the interior and you have a 3 year old shitbox for under 1k.

What are the odds I've screwed myself? It had oil when I got it, but who fucking knows how old that might have been.. I even took the fucking thing on a 500 mile trip last weekend FUCK.
Anyways stupid shit you've done thread, I guess?
it's a used car what do you expect lol
>>17334939
What car OP?
>>17335042
2008 forester. The oil light hasn't come on and it hasn't been overheating or anything so I'm hoping I noticed before i fucked the engine
FUCKING sick of wankers in their DSG bullshit nazi mobiles flying across my street hearing that piece of crap, REEEEE, thankful that Australia has such amazing hoon laws or else it would be worse.
You mad tho?
>>17334787
>hearing that piece of crap
Do you mean in the upshift-fart? It's not that bad, is it.
I mean I live in wolfsburg and every assembly line monkey gets a leasing GTI/ GTD/ R and thinks they are the hottest shit, you hear the BRRRAAAPP several times a day
>>17334787
Sounds like someone got walked by a Golf and is traumatized by the sweet clarion call of the DSG fart.
I'm working on a 94 civic. With a D16Z6 with vtec engine.
Currently have a P06 ecu. I know it's the wrong one but that is all I could get my hands on for now.
Previous owner either swapped the engine or the ecu. Evidence points to the ecu since it didn't have the factory labeling on it. Was labeled reman.
Now. She had a blown head gasket which was surprisingly easy. (Did an Audi and i wanted to die)
With the blown head gasket and poorly reman ecu (pic related) she ran. Shittily but she ran.
In the process of breakdown I noticed the coolant had residue bud m buildup in the iac and fitv so I've replaced both. Cleaned throttle body. The works.
After fresh parts install and proper fluid, she cranked up more beautiful than ever and even ran better (uh doi)
Seemed to not have properly tightened down the fitv choice plate so if fell off somewhere amidst driving. Fell into subframe so it wasn't lost. Replaced it and she hasn't started up since.
Just replaced the distributor and she turned over finally but only stayed running fire about 2 minutes before she bogged down to death. She shut off and had been that way since.
After replacing the dizzy was told I've also got a vacuum leak somewhere so i eliminated the charcoal canister so the only vacuum lines are for the brake booster fuel pressure regulator, pcv valve, and the throttle body. Still have open hoses where the charcoal canister should be.
Should I plug those?
What else should I look for as far as it not wanting to turn on?
Summary.
New dizzy so I've got spark,
Replaced the main relay and can clearly hear the fuel pump prime before ignition. ( also loosened the fuel filter banjo bolt and turn the key to on not crank and had the fuel spray for 3 seconds so it's putting out pressure)
So I've got fuel.
Can't find anything else in the engine with a vacuum line besides those listed.
So I'm guessing I've got air.
Any help?
Also pretty sure I've got the timing down correct. Like I says she ran previously
If that's the original engine then the ECU is indeed swapped. The P06 is a non VTEC ECU.
I'm no expert myself but I've been learning on my own 94 Civic. Maybe the MAP sensor has gone bad?
Why don't you own the coolest car on the planet?

>Kei Car plates at that
>On a car never sold in Japan
JDM brah.
At the same time with some of the weird westabo's that import USDM versions of JP cars over there and shit, I can see some of them digging these since they never did get them.
That steering wheel cover is radical!
Because I own the coolest bike on the planet

Hi, i'm 19 and I'm looking to buy my first 'fast' car. I currently drive an 03' Buick Century. (The epitome of handling, speed, ingenuity, etc.)
I have not done a lot of searching, I found a 1981 Corvette for 6k. ( https://brainerd.craigslist.org/cto/6146835044.html ) Is that a car I could put 2k in to look/drive nicer?
I figure if I spend 8k all together I can find a faster car anyways but I like the look of corvettes I guess. My friends a car fanatic and tells me to buy some sort of cobalt v6 sti or something like that. Help a kid out?
>>17333967
>put 2k into
General rule for anything older than 20 years.
Whatever the asking price is, expect to put 150% of that into unfucking the last decades of poor maintenance. More if you don't do any of the work yourself.
Also 100% of the time, one crucial part will have broken that does not have a commonly available replacement, and the only ones online are disgustingly high priced. For instance, I just paid $75 for 3 air flow meter mounting bolts because snowflake engineering.
Remember that a car that looks awesome but runs and drives like shit isn't much good for anything but parking in your driveway. Get it running well before you even begin to think about how it looks. If you rice it out I will find you.
Remember that having a fast car isn't all about having the most powerful engine. Your suspension and your brakes are as important if not more important than the engine. If the car handles like a shopping cart with a fucked up wheel but you have 800 horsepower, it'll be great on the strip, but you will dread driving to work every morning.
A Buick is fat and gay and slow, but it'll get you where you're going pretty much 100% of the time. That's something to consider if you're thinking about dailying a 36 year old Corvette.
I'm not trying to steer you away from it, but try to detach from "holy shit it's a Corvette and I want it" and impartially consider what you need a car to do. If you can put the time and money into maintaining it, by all means proceed.
>>17333993
I figured it would be something like that. Thanks for the advice. Any cars you would reccomend? Mustangs any good? I like the 05' body style.
>>17334137
A mustang from that generation should make a good babby's first fast car
Android Auto has Waze support now. PSA.
Now I kinda want Android Auto. Is it worth it?
waze blows
>>17333871
who cares? it's not worth buying a car for or replacing the head unit.
Its okay, but it pretty much locks your phone down while you're using it, so you can't launch any apps on it.
You're just tied to the dumbed down version of the apps they allow you to launch on the headunit.
Android Auto was cool for a little bit, but now I just use bluetooth.
post godmachines
Is that Horizon 3? I've only played one and two so far. did you play it and do you like it?

What's the best sort of phone cradle and where is the best place to position it (for GPS)
or should I just get a dedicated gps?
do you prefer a window suction one or one that clips into the aircon vent
also if you get a suction cup one. does the sun and cold eventually fuck it up
The Universal Magnetic Car Mount.
I've switched it out from old car to new, and it's easy to get the adhesive off. Bonus is that since it's magnets, you don't need an ugly plastic part that only fits certain phone models, and you can use it with whatever (GPS if you want). I peeled off the ugly logos on the magents themselves and it looks much better.
>>17333784
if you put the magnet under the case does it end up falling off easily?
Should I just suck it up and stick the magnet on the back of the phone case
>>17333784
If I pull the phone off, will it die?
