Now that the dust has settled, what is the overall consensus on The Grand Tour?
it makes me miss tanner faust
I genuinely like it (except the American).

New thread, a little over two weeks left. It's time for the Mid-Atlantic /o/ meet, all kinds of shitboxes are welcome
>When
June 25th (Sunday) at 12pm
>Where
Meeting at the Sonic in Edison, NJ. From there we'll drive to Island Dragway and do some racing. Possibility of going somewhere for food afterwards
The route shown is not final, just a general idea of where we'll be going. Any cars are welcome as there's usually a wide variety that show up. So far we have about 20-25 people confirmed
Not quite sure what I'm going to drive there. I may break my streak of never bringing the same car twice.
Confirmed for bringing the $400 E46 (still need to name it), getting a temp tag so I don't have to worry about getting through inspection (no cats).
Gonna cut the fender and pop rivet sheet metal on

Land Barge General #1
We gather here we praise the holy boats across all brands. Discussion of buying and selling, modifications, debate, advice, and so on are welcome.
Common held ideas of a land barge are having most if not all of these qualities in a car:
>Sedan/coupe
>Body on frame
>V8 engine
>Slushy automatic
>Shifter in the steering column
>Rear wheel drive
>Comfy bench seats
>More than 3800lbs curb weight
>At least 16 feet in length
>Fit at least 3 dead hookers in the trunk
>Bonus points for hood ornaments, rear gas caps, shag carpets, red interiors, and manual transmissions.
Let us celebrate our comfy boats
Show us what you got!
What is the second car from top to bottom?

I'll try and make it out
How many other baikus going?
The v8 48,000mi and the Elise is clocked at 17,000mi. Both are similar in price. I have ridden in a v6 SC exige track only car and it's my first choice but it's out my price range. Unfortunate because it strikes the best balance between displacement and light weight performance. The Elise leans to much to the track side of things and the esprit is honestly just a little too on the side of supercar side. Since the lf1 exige I want is track only and costs $130k I will have to wait a long while before I can afford it as well as pay for trailering it since it can't be road driven.
Anyways the car I get won't be commuted in but I do daily drive except in winter. Long road trips to tracks and just general hooking. The esprit looks killer. I would do a gearbox upgrade and possibly push the engine to 450hp. I believe it is a much smoother comfortable ride than the Elise, which is a fun as hell car to rip around tracks and tough on.
I understand the choice e comes down to driving characteristics. I think I may regret getting an Elise when I'm driving it 4hrs to the track or lotus dealer. The only time I would regret the esprit over the Elise would be on tight tracks where guys in NA miata are other performing me on the twisting sections.
I really do prefer displacement over turbo. The lotus will just end up being a fun piece of rolling jewelery for me and I will push it hard. I've pretty much decided on the v8 esprit but wanted some feedback. I understand the service and reliability issues as well. I will straight pipe the esprit and replace the lotus wing with a Le Man's style carbon unit and probably wrap it in animal girls, lol. Plz no bully. It will be totally a reflection of, personal sense of style.
So I've basically made my mind up but any input would be needed. I posted about a month ago and got so,even good replies. The exige v6 is my ideal car desu but out of my price range. Luckily I can import and esprit that will be legal for road use.
>>17362495
Tougè not tough and anime girls not animal
>>17362520
Here's he $148k lf1. Two sitting in showrooms for nearly three years with no sign of price drop. The dealers think he Ltd edition warrants the price gouge. You can import as a track only car the faster and newer more advanced exige race 2017 for the same money.
Lotus and it's dealers are cents. They won't write the letter allowing me to import and exige or Elise as a road use car even though it's easily update able to ,eat insurance standards. Luckily the esprit is exempt from 2000-2004. There are literally 0 exige for sale on used or new in Canada, except the lf1 which can't be insured for road use. And lotus won't even help u import any model to prot3ct dealers, who ironically don't have any stock
esprit is way cooler, but i think i'd rather own an elise. i've never driven either though, so who knows
i already dd a decent turbocharged car so the lightweight na would be a fun change on the weekends. just my opinion and what i would do. coming from a huge lotus fanboy btw

Redpill me on the new BRZ ts, /o/
Why can't Subaru just put a decent engine in it?
If it ends up being more expensive than a WRX why would anyone get it aside from BRZ fan boys?

It's a toyobaru, if subaru wants to drop a new engine toyota would have to do the same. Aero and suspension is interchangeable making those viable production upgrades.
You can change the garnish but never give up your mama's recipe.
>>17361633
They don't want it in direct competition with the STI so they can't give it more power.
Also there might be a joint contract between Toyota and Subaru that neither can used forced induction.
Tbh Toyota should make a supercharged TRD version and Subaru should make a turbocharged STI version. Both cars would appeal to different people and I can't imagine it would hurt sales for either company. But if anything it would hurt Subaru because Toyota currently doesn't have anything else sporty.

This.
>waiting for green
>clutch and brake in, 1st gear in
>suddenly grinding gears noise
>stick reset itself to neutral without touching anything
What's happening here? It the 3rd time this happens.
>>17361394
Your synchros are dickered, mate
Let me ask you, have you been putting the car into neutral without using the clutch?
I've heard of some people doing that and over time it fucks up your gearbox and will throw itself into neutral randomly
>>17361400
Yeah. You may need a tranny rebuild. At least a manual tranny is cheaper to fix than an auto.
What's /o/ opinion on window tint?
Anyone tint their cars?
What percentage VLT do you suggest?
Best film?
I don't like people seeing me when I'm driving, Especially If I'm driving though the ghetto on my way to work. Plus it insulates your defroster lines and keeps my car a little less hot.
I have 3M 20% VLT, I can't recall how much it was but I remember it was under 400 dollars with a lifetime warranty
It looks darker then it is when It's bright out.
I would say It's not too dark and not too light.
It's like limo tint at night though, So you have to be careful turning and have LED reverse bulbs
Front window tint and windshield tint are rightfully illegal. Nobody gives a shit about your I DONT WANNA BE SEEEEEEN WHILE BEING THE DRIVER sissy fits. It's like permanently driving with sunglasses.
>>17361159
It's not illegal to tint your front windows in like 3/4 of the U.S. An if you have a prescription you can tint your whole car and the windshield 5%.
Also my tint is not illegal and I didn't tint the windshield

How do you people afford the cars you drive?
Sincerly,
A poorfag.
>earn some money from working and purchase a cheap car
why did you even ask OP?
I have a job. It's this place I go to for 8 hours a day where I do chores for them and they give me money, which I use to pay for my car.
>>17360133
No, I'm talking about people driving those nice ass cars. Minimum wage allows me to buy a boring shitty daily.
I want to drive neat cars.
Why isn't this in the sticky?

Why doesn't aprilia make a sportbike smaller than a liter? They use to make the excellent 125 and 250cc bikes but not it's pretty much only the RSV4.
>>17356533
because the RSV4 is the best sportbike on the planet currently.
I'm looking at the website right now and there are half a dozen 125s. They do have quite a gap between 125 and 1100 though.
>>17356557
>>17356557
In the US market nobody sees a 125 as a viable option for transportation, even in Europe most of the major makers produce a 125, 300, 600, 1000.
today Richard hammond survived a crash he had in an electric supercar and i wanted to see /o/s best guess as to why
heres the video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOQL7hyFXtc
to me it looks like the car doesnt have ABS and it seemed at the last second decided to turn left and get the brunt of the force the collision on the side of the car he was not on.
>drive to fast into a corner
>crash
what a surprise
Probably combo of no abs (boutique car), and super heavy (electric)
>>17352383
Is he okay?
Mother fucker just can't not crash can he?
