So I'm about to move from Texas to Florida where my brother is, and I'm in an odd spot right now. I have a 2004 Ford Explorer. I was going to rent a U-Haul trailer to move my stuff from Texas to Florida, however, because of lawsuits U-Haul doesn't rent to Explorer owners. Renting a truck and then a trailer to tow my Explorer would cost like 5 times the amount of just getting the trailer. I was wondering about ways to get around that. If I were to use my dad's Durango and rent the trailer, do they check which vehicle you have when you turn it in? Maybe I could have my brother return it. Does anybody know any helpful info?

Just pay the money. Moving will require more space than the small uhaul trailer. 15ft truck minimum.
>>17406031
Besides, it's tax deductible so you be fine as long as you can afford it up front. Just keep all receipts
>>17406081
I'm only moving a bedroom set. Smallest trailer is all I need.
>>17406094
I can't afford it up front. $370 vs $1400 is a big difference. Not to mention gas for driving.

see title, I want to get the old school sounds of a carb'd v8 into a modern day muscle car (e.g. challenger).
Is this even possible?
Like the sounds in the video below

Maybe a more aggressive cam? Or If you really want to you could take the EFI off of the new engine.
>>17405711
>more aggressive cam
any you recommend?
>take the EFI off of the new engine
how would that work? make it carb'd? even with the computer stuff & sensors?
>>17405726
>more aggressive cam
Kind of, but the idle wouldn't waver like it does on that Charger. It would lope, but not drift apart and converge again like in the vid.
>take off the EFI
That guy is a total retard. There's no way you can just straight up carb a modern engine with all of the sensors involved. The O2's would be freaking the fuck out, the ICM / ECU would probably do it's best to kill the engine.
The only real way to get the sound is to get an older engine. And no, there's no good way to put an older engine like that in your new car and keep all of the amenities you have.
Other than the sound, carbureted engines are wholly less efficient and obsolete. EFI is far more efficient and can squeeze way more power out of the same engine than if it were carbed.
This is coming from a guy that has owned multiple carbed engines, it's just the truth.

Anyone here know much about the Night Rod from Harley Davidson? I love the look and am thinking of getting one. Just want an honest opinion on performance.

HDs shake like a motherfucker so invest in some fat grips and check your hardware frequently. They are notorious for burning and leaking oil but I have yet to ever see a stain under a new one. Parts can be expensive because you are definitely paying for the name. All in all if you like it get it

So I'm taking an economics class and we were going over a 'supply and demand' concept. Basically the way I understand it, the more people want something, the higher the price goes, until more of that thing is made and sold, and then the price falls. It's a strict law of nature that if less people want something the price will go down, and if more people want something the price goes up.
I'm thinking about it, and I'm thinking this could be applied to the new car market. Everyone bitches that new cars undergo horrible loss in value when you buy them, right? A 30k car could turn into a 20k car the second it leaves the dealer's lot. That's a huge amount of money just totally vanished and removed from the economy forever, and it's the reason why it's a better idea to always buy used.
What if everyone collectively decided to not buy cars for a few months? By law the price of new cars will go down, and eventually it'll get to the point where a new car could be at the price of a used car, and at that point everyone could just buy the new cars at used prices and avoid the depreciation hit. This way, everyone saves some money and it's not removed from the economy. Any thoughts?

>That's a huge amount of money just totally vanished and removed from the economy forever
take many more economics classes. The money isn't gone or vanished, it has been transferred to the dealer, who then transfers it to employees, government, manufacturer, advertisers etc.
Car manufactures crush unsold inventory before they would sell them super cheap. Selling them super cheap would flood and they would hardly make anything.

>>17404347
The moment when people collectively decide to start buying cars again the demand would be very high and the prices would increase instantly. Try thinking it through.

If you've comfortably got the cash I'd do the BMW or the 370z. Otherwise either the used miata or 86. Never the new miata.
>>17403499
In order of preference assuming you can afford them without being jawed into finance.
235i
86
370z
ND used
ND new
if you can afford it go for the BMW
another good choice would be e92 335i, it would cost you around 20k
