What the fuck was Honda problem in the 90s?
i find out they have a couple versions of different cars that had longitudinal engines but were all FWD?
How easy is it to get these cars like the honda Legend or the honda rafaga and find a miata drive train and convert it yourself?
It's been done before. But if you're asking here you probably can't do it.
say somebody is dissing your fly car. what do you give em?

Advice thread, I guess.
So many months ago (September or October) I left my shitbox at a filling station. It had either a bad starter or bad alternator but I left it there because the damn gas float was stuck and I was unaware I was out of gas. 15 Minutes from home and without my wallet for some stupid reason I decided to just Uber it and come back in the morning. The morning came about three days later and to my surprise my exceptionally shitty shitbox wasn't there. I'm not really the worrying type so I assumed it had been towed and decided to just wait for the invoice.
It's much, much later now and I haven't heard a thing. I looked into most if not all of the local towing companies a few months ago and couldn't find anything.
Of course now it's time to have the plates renewed and I don't have the old plates, much less the vehicle. The only way to stop my license from being suspended is to bring a police report to the DMV.
So, uh, can I get in trouble for this seeing as how it's been a disgusting amount of time since the vehicle disappeared? I feel like if it's actually been towed it'll be okay but it seems to me like it's been stolen and I should've probably reported it a long, LONG time ago. On a scale of 1-11 how fucked am I?
You can to a police report anytime you want. It's free and takes 5 minutes.
You get your license suspended if you don't renew your plates? wtf?
>>17349058
I know, but what kind of repercussions are there for my legendary level of stupidity? Seems to me like they'd be kind of irritated at my unbelievable tardiness
>>17349058
Right?? It's not the renewing so much as the fact I dropped it from the insurance like a month after it disappeared and you're supposed to turn in your tags then, apparently.

So the interior of my truck is in need of a revamp, cracks are starting to grow after 200k miles. I found http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Dodge-Ram-3500-Quad-Cab-SLT-Laramie-Driver-Bottom-Leather-Seat-Cover-Gray-/322549541425?hash=item4b19736a31:g:30AAAOSw0e9UrxvJ&vxp=mtr on ebay.
Do any of you have experience with this company's fit/form/color match to OEM parts?

I was driving for an hour at highway speeds (50mph), when I started smelling burning rubber for a couple minutes, and then the burning smell disappeared but a high pitched squealing happened.
The squealing happens when travelling >40mph, and is dependent on vehicle speed. If I put it in neutral while going 40+mph it still squeals, and if I rev it while stationary, it doesn't squeal.
I checked the belts and they're pretty good, any guesses for what is going on?
I'm suspecting a wheel bearing or CV joint, but the noise only appears when going +40 mph

Your engine sounds like an autist, OP. kYS.
If it has anything to do with the belts you'd notice it in lower speeds because of the rpms going up as you shift, so try blasting your car in first gear and see if it squeaks, that'll tell you a decent amount of info. Or your brakes, check those too
Hey /o/ total retard when it comes to cars here. I just got a uses 2012 passat last week and everything is going ok. But in the past couple of days I would start it and the alternator light would come on and I couldn't control the car. Then today I was in a turning lane when I suddenly lost my power steering and the light came on again. All I have to do is turn it off then turn it back on and it's fine but I don't want to be in that situation again. What do?
Feel like talking about the panther platform tonight. I have a 1999 Crown Vic LX. Post what you've got and let's see some pics too!
I also wouldn't mind doing some circlejerking over the robust suspension and power-train of these bad boys.
Lastly, what have you done/do you need to do to your panther?
I spent $100 and got 2 front rotors and ceramic pads from the auto supplier at work. Getting it through work means I got it for $39 a piece, which is about half the price from Autozone and the like. I have to put them on plus change the oil sometime soon.

Inb4 "That's a 3 valve." I know. I forgot to upload the 2 valve image. Hey, at least the Marauder has that engine, so technically it does go in a panther platform car.

If this isn't proof that European displacement taxes are getting out of fucking control, I don't know what is. Turbos may be great at cheating emission and fuel economy tests, but guess what, people actual use boost in the real world to get places, and the advantage disappears. Some of us prefer the superior sound/response of NA engines (and better NVH of engines with >4 cylinders), why do you cunts want to take them away so much?
Because all of Europe cucked themselves with the Paris Accord. They have to get greener and give billions to third world countries that don't have to do anything.
NA is for cuckholds

Alright guys, this concept of putting 5x115 wheels on my 5x114.3 is foreign and seems hard. I asked a facebook page but they were very confusing talking about how all i need is wobble nuts and I will be fine but I do not believe that. I know i will for sure need a hubcentric ring(s) for it but how do I calculate if offset will be an issue for all of those with experience. please, need help. Pic is wheels
>if you can identify the wheels is bonus points
>>17348438
No, do not try to fit 5x115 wheels on a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Use parts that were made for your vehicle, and do not try to nigger rig parts from other vehicles onto it.
As for finding wheels that will fit and what offsets you want: http://www.willtheyfit.com/
>>17348444
they make hub-centric rings which fill the gap from small differences in the center hole diameter which countless people have said give factory ride comfort. Im skeptical, as you, but the way they work seems logical.
>>17348455
I would avoid spacers/rings as much as possible. Just adds another point of failure on one of the most important parts of keeping a car on the road.
Hi /o/,
I am looking to purchase a welder for hobby work. Quarter panels, repairs, random shit, etc. A mechanic friend suggest some Millermatic 215, but they cost $2k and will do more than I will ever know how. Probably the last welder I will ever need to buy.
I was thinking of purchasing it, but then just saw this video of some 8 year old girl welding with a Eastwood Mig 135 ($300). Reading up on it, it seems like it can do everything I need it to do. And I can start small, and maybe purchase the Miller 215 when I grow out of it.
It also just seems like a better use of my money since I wont know the capabilities of the 215 for years. Thoughts, suggestions?
I need to weld pic related. (Frame horn)
Try this, I used to frequent /b/ a lot and they wouldn't shut up about how great JB is.
>>17348400
Bumping, Pic related of damaged part.
I've seen issues with those Eastwood welders like the feed mechanism getting jacked up and the trigger failing. The problem with those cheap welders is they are hard to get parts for. Get a Miller or Lincoln 110v that can use a bottle, like the Lincoln Easy Mig 140 or Millermattic 125. The 215 is cool but stick capability doesn't really add anything for things you will be doing to a car. Start with the cheaper MIGs like I mentioned, take some classes to learn oxy acetylene, TIG, stick, etc. and when you develop your skills you can worry about buying an expensive TIG or all in one
Hey /o/, what's a cheap and ""easy"" to maintain american car from the 60~70s that'll make me look like a retarded boomer?
Looking to buy a used 1995 wrangler its in great condition completely rust free the only thing that's bothering me is the front driveshaft is disconnected, he has a new one but is it likely that he disconnected it because the transfer case is fucked, is there a way i can test it without connecting the driveshaft?
bump for 4x4
Not unless you want to look inside the thing to see if it's spinning
>>17348697
This pretty much, put the rears up on a jack, put it in 4x4 and see if the transfer case is spinning.
When's a good time to start thinking about selling your car? I've got a 23 year old Nisan Altima in my garage right now I got from my parents. It still drives, and its only got about 110k miles on it, but I just spent $450 to replace the distributor, and that's close to what the car's worth. Should I wait until it breaks down again, or try to sell it now and pick up a replacement?
I only drive about 10 miles a day, so I don't really use it much.
Depends on if what options you have if the car breaks down, in my opinion. Driving an old shit box isn't bad if you have another ride to work, but say you live in the middle of nowhere and it breaking down would screw you and your job. I would start looking for another car and sell that one after you have it.
If you want to keep it, you have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. Something like anything you can't do yourself or any part over $200. The good news is that the car doesn't really suffer from depreciation so drive it into the ground if you can.
If you had to pay a mechanic to replace a distributor on a ka24, you have no business owning a car that old.
