I have seen many youtube videos about people stealth camping in cargo vans. The idea is that unlike a camper van, the cargo van blends in and can be parked anywhere. This allows people to travel the country freely with minimal expenses.
I think this is an interesting lifestyle and I would like to buy a van and live in it. The money I would save on rent ($850 a month) could easily pay for the van in less than a year. I don't know much about cars, so picking out a van will be difficult. I probably want to spend $4000 - $6000 with a total budget for the project of $10,000
Any thoughts?
Don't cheap out and buy some clapped out van or you'll be broken down, stranded, begging for money like most "vanlyfe" people on Youtube.
Here is a van I came across the other day that I am tempted to purchase.
> 2003 Ford E150
> 180,000km = 110,000 miles
> $1000 CAD = 820 USD
I have read that these vans can easily withstand 300kkm - 400kkm. I am really tempted, but buying this van would probably be a stupid idea. A van this old and at such a low price probably has a ton of expensive issues. I would invest a bunch of money in the conversion, have to do a bunch of expensive repairs, and then end up with something that doesn't have much resale value. Really tempting price tag though.
We had a namefag, Vandweller who lived in a van but he graduated to being a truck driver. Maybe you should just skip straight to that.
Bros, now that the dust has settled, what is the consensus on the Mercedes CLA?

What are my options if my hood looks like this? Do car painters do just the hood? How much will it cost me? Any good recommendations in San jose?
I brought this from a dealership since I desperately needed a car but the paint was off.
You could sand it off and do a rattle can paint job

I'm looking at buying a 2000 Buick Regal GS, does anyone know much about them or if they have any common problems I should look out for?
>>17855677
I've driven both a grand prix GTP (same engine) and a 2001 regal, same car. Grand prix gave me a lot more issues because it was higher mileage and the buick was my grandmothers who barely used it. I still have the grand prix, the engine has an issue where it will cut off while running. I stopped driving the car because of that, it would cut off while going down the road and you lose power steering and brakes. Shop said it was a bad rotor in the super charger so we replaced that but the problem persisted so I stopped driving it.
The regal was much better to me, but it was a very low mileage car when I got it. Took me and 4 friends to panama city Florida for spring break with no issues. Once I got out of college and started commuting though the issues piled up. Alternator went first. Then the transmition began slipping if the car was used too hard, like bumper to bumper traffic. Pretty sure the tranny was on it's last leg when I traded it in for my current car.
The regal was not the coolest, but was extremely comfy (think leather couch with wheels). I did like that car, and the l67 engine is no joke either. Lots of parts available from a company called zzp that can get good power gains out of that engine for relatively cheap.

Well, the car im looking doesn't need anymore power since it already has a 3800 performance stage 6 kit (which is basically a smaller pulley, comp cams and supporting mods), is making 350hp+ and was primarily highway driven for 80% of its life. Is the alternator a common problem with these cars? Also what mileage was it at when the transmission problems started?

I'm 19, was happily driving my beloved 06 Saab 9-3. (ECU tuned, new intake, front lip etc)
However I had a couple seizures in late winter/early spring, which kinda stopped me from driving for 6 months.
My dad, (who is cheap as fuck despite making 300k+ per year) wants to get me a new car with some sort of collision avoidance system.
Car needs to be below 25k.
I'm currently looking at a Impreza sport hatchback with EyeSight, looks pretty well-rounded to me.
Are there any other companies that make good crash avoidance systems? And no, I'm not going for the fucking hotwheel looking hondas or toyotas.

Hey /o/ I'm looking into getting my first car and was thinking about a used Mazda 3. I like the look of the 2014 update, and it seems they seem to be reasonably priced in my area, especially compared to the civics and corollas with similar mileage. I don't really see Mazdas other than the Miata discussed here, but I would appreciate if if anyone would share any experience they'd had with one of these. They seem to be well reviewed and are apparently mildly fun to drive. my driving experience so far is with my family's old Civic and my Dad's Jetta.

Where you from? Im assuming USA, i dont know much about the USDM market but assuming the Euro brands are like the ones we have here, I cant recommend the Ford Fiesta enough, particularly the ST model, extremely fun to drive, If your looking for better economy then I recommend the VW Golf or BMW 3 Series.

Walking home today and some fucker bumped into me and instantly started talking shit about V8s being the best engine. I tried to remain calm and explain to him that V6s were actually the best engine, but he wouldn't take a hint. He started throwing around words like "displacement" and I lost it. Punched him right in his V8 loving fuck face.
I hate V8s so god damn much.
