Hey /o/ i need your help.

>have a 2006 Ram 1500 SLT 4.7 V8
> just hit 148k miles
>engine suddenly cuts out when driving. No warning, no signs of struggle.
>battery stays on and can be turned over
>happens multiple times
>take to dealer and they say "oh hurr its your EGR and we want to charge you $600"
>howaboutno.jpg
>replace it myself and truck runs fine for 2 weeks
>dies 4 times yesterday and 3 times today. Same thing, no warning or consistency
>just checked EGR and it's attached just fine

Am I fu**ed or is there something im missing? Any suggestions?

Car noob here who wants some advice on buying and owning his first car.

I'll most likely need to buy relatively soon and I've narrowed it down to two very different vehicles. Ether an early model Nissan 350Z or late model Lexus LS400. Aesthetics more or less reign supreme, but reliably and low maintenance is a close second, and price and low MPG can be overcome. It will be a daily beater but I won't need to drive a great distance except for the occasional road trip. Storage and passengers aren't a concern. I've always loved the way Zs look but I've seen some clean LS400, partially VIP style. I do like fast but considering I'm driving a four banger, anything is an upgrade. Which would be better suited for a first time buyer and owner?

How do you get to go on test drives in interesting cars? Like the new MX-5?
Please share tips and experiences.

I'd love to spend a couple of weekends driving some new cars, the more interesting the better, but I wouldn't mind some ordinary ones either.
What do I need to do to get dealers to let me drive their cars or get invited to events?

Should I sign up to newsletters? Does "request a test drive" actually work or do they want to talk to you for a long time beforehand?

I'm ~30, can dress and behave properly and show up in an appropriate car, so that side should be fine.

I'm in the UK if that matters.

Anybody here ever wrapped their car? I'm not talking as in tacky chrome wraps or anything, I'm just considering it as a cheaper alternative to getting my car painted. Also, 3M don't seem to sell their wrap to consumers here in the UK, what gives with that? I would consider getting it done by a professional, but it seems easy enough to do myself.
