Go out to your car. Look in the glovebox. Find your owner manual. Read it.

>i'm dropping down gears a lot in the places i like to go a little bit faster, heel-toeing
>hurr you're going to break gearbox
>and it's not even about heel-toe
>supposedly, when you change gears too fast in consumer car, it will wear gearbox down a lot
it is true anonymose? i wanted to tell him that my dear friends at anonymous japanese meme imageboard told me it's not, but i felt like it's somehow inappropriate
i strongly believe that if gears are going in smoothly and i don't have to struggle with the gear handle, gearbox is not taking too much damage while shifting. Am i wrong? Is he wrong? Is it something in between?
Slamming it into gear probably wears the synchros a bit more but it's no huge deal as long as you're not shocking the drivetrain with fast clutch releases at wrong RPMs.
>>17425319
so, you imply that if i match the engine rotation and car-drivetrain-thingie rotation well enough, i won't fuck up my gearbox much?
i don't get rough while releasing the clutch after heel-toe, so i guess i'm doing it right. I think real question i want to ask is: is gearbox getting fucked up simply through very fast gear change or not?
Hey /o/ I was recently told that my VW doesn't have a valve cover but instead a "camshaft housing". I thought of this as a joke because I had never heard of the latter.
Is there such a thing?

is it possible at all to "identify as a woman" so I can get a lower car insurance rate? I basically just want to use the current tranny/SJW culture so I can save ~$600/yr

To start, I know next to nothing about cars, so I never post here. Which, of course, is why I've come here seeking advise. Can I get some recommendations for a current-year mid-size sedan?
I've been driving a 2006 Mazda 3 since 2006. However, I was recently informed that my engine is burning oil, likely due to worn piston rings, and that this is an issue not worth fixing. As such, I'm looking to buy a new car, and I've decided to go mid-size over compact this time around.
Naturally, my first inclination was to go with the Mazda 6. But my brother and father aren't impressed with the 4-cylinder engine, insisting I go for a car with a V6. Like the Toyota Camry XLE V6 or the Honda Accord EX-L V6.
Any input is greatly appreciated!

Do you want a manual coupe? Accord V6 (Coupe).
Do you want an automatic sedan? Accord V6 (Sedan).
Do you want a manual car with good MPG? Mazda6.
Don't get the Camry.
>>17424874
I'll be going sedan, yes. And automatic, since I occasionally give up the wheel to friends and family, and not everybody can drive stick.
However, I do care about fuel economy. I do a lot of driving, and the occasional road trip. Is the Mazda6 not worth it as an automatic?
Thanks!
>>17424921
No it's a good automatic. I dun goofed, it should've been
>Do you want a car with good MPG
I drove one as a rental car a few months ago. My biggest gripe with it was that the delay between pushing the throttle and actually going was pretty long.
Since it seems like it's up to a coin toss I suggest going to different dealerships and test driving them. Get your hands on everything, from the infotainment to the backup camera. Get a feel for what it would be like with multiple passengers.
Is the new Fiesta (not the ST) a good shitbox? The Titanium looks pretty comfy.
>>17424776
Just don't get the dual clutch automatic (the only automatic option)
I've been hearing bad things from my mechanic about them basically shitting out at 60000mi
>>17425358
This.
The dct is garbage.
So that leaves you with manual.
And at that point why not get the FiST?

>image is an ST

How will they ever recover?

The reason for this is obvious. Takuma Sato is 5'5" and weighs 90 lbs. This allows for more horsepower per lb than any of the other guys who are much larger.
